American Sewer

I had a basement sewer drain back up. This is an older house with an old sewer line. I selected American Sewer from list of contractors on Angie's List. Person who answered phone was helpful and set an appointment for early afternoon same day. I was contacted early afternoon and they were able to come early. My technician, John, arrived, reviewed the situation and had the drain open and clean within his estimated time. He had all the right equipment and kept me informed throughout his stay. He did a fantastic job cleaning up after he was done working. I recommend this contractor without reservation.

I had originally hired them to snake a floor drain but upon inspection they determined that the floor drain was not actually clogged but it was the main sewer line that needed cleaned. They used a video camera to examine the inside of the main sewer line to determine what needed to be done. Everything with the service went fine, and it was fixed with no problems. The problem came afterwards when they failed to provide me with a copy of the video that they took of my sewer line. I was charged for this and I need a copy of it to get further bids on more work that needs done. When I contacted the company about this they told me to call the technician who did the actual work, but when I talked to him he told me to contact the company directly again. Other than this I have no problems with the company or their staff and I still hope this issue can be resolved.

I’ve been using these guys for several years and always feel like they take such good care of me. They make good recommendations and are extremely thorough and pricing is absolutely fair. As a single woman with an old house it’s especially comforting to know I can trust a good plumber. They went above and beyond with this recent service to address the “root”’of the problem. Pun intended! They also clean out every entry point to the main line to get to the tree root obstructing the pipe

I want to be fair here so I'll just relay my experience. I move into a new house on Saturday (from a different state) and on Monday morning (Labor Day) at 8:00 am., while still unpacking, there is about an inch of water in my finished basement. I looked and it was clear that the main line had backed up, which means that we had to stop using the water. It is a difficult situation with a toddler and in-law staying with you and no one can use the bathroom. Adding to that situation my wife was starting a new job teaching the following day. I called American Sewer after seeing the reviews and they indicated they could get someone out there between 1-3. That was later than I wanted to wait, but with it being a holiday I figured it would do. I get a call around 1 indicating that it will be between 3-5. At this time the difficulty of the situation was escalating, but I figured I had waited this long, what is another 2 hours? With it being a holiday I imagined it would be hard to get someone new this late in the day. Around 5pm I get the call that they can't make it. They were very apologetic and I even got a call from the owner which I appreciated. They explained that it was a difficult job that kept them and that this never happens. I don't have any reason to doubt the explanation they provided and again they were very apologetic. With that said I ended up paying about $600 more than I should have in order to get someone else out. I believe in honest reviews and that was my experience.

Made the call about 2 pm on a Sunday. Was told that someone would be here yet that afternoon. There were a couple of calls before ours and if the on-call couldn't get there by 6 pm the person I was speaking to would be out instead. As promised, we got a call about 4:30-5 that they were about 10-15 minutes away. Rob arrived and went straight to work clearing the drain and testing it. He was efficient and professional and got the job done in less than 1/2 hour.

Very well. I don't know what this should cost, so I didn't enter an opinion, but the worker was prompt, polite, helpful in explaining what was happening, and it solved our problem.

100% I would not use anyone else these people are the best!

Toilet unclogged went well. Over weekend floor drain clogged and caused toilet to clog again. Floor drain unclogged and repaired. Service man very polite, explained problem in way I could understand. cost total for 2 visits.

They were wonderful. Super friendly, fast and efficient. The cap on my sewer line was corroded and not seating properly, and they had a spare one on hand to install. Recommend them highly.

Donald was great. Showed up on time, gave me a call letting me know he was on his way. He went the extra mile in terms of trying to get my line opened up. We had to use a jetter because it was in corrugated pipe and a regular snake would've damaged the line. In the end, we couldn't get the line opened but that was because we found a drywell in the middle of the run.

Great, they were super professional and timely. Our sewer drain was back up and within an hour he had us good to go! I only wish we called them sooner instead of trying to do it ourselves initially.

American Sewer plumbers are great. We have used them twice now, and will continue to call them as needed. The plumbers are friendly, and they explain everything perfectly. I like and trust them!

Couldn't be happier. They just kept working on it until it was cleared and then checked everything with a camera confirming that we had no breaks or roots. They went over and above and we couldn't be happier. We have a finished basement and they made no mess at all. Can't even tell they were there.
