American Sewer

We actually had someone else do it over the weekend, so we didn't need this. But they were professional and directed us to Angie's List for a refund/exchange. We would consider using them again.

Unfortunately, we have a continuing problem with root clogs from boulevard trees. We have used another local provider for several years, and had become increasingly unhappy with them for several reasons. I actually became an Angie's List member because we were looking for someone else to provide this service. We tried American, and have used their services 3 times now. This last time we had Seth, and he was very professional and friendly. This was a bathroom drain, and he quickly got it running again and also gave us a tip to keep it that way. This company is punctual and professional, and I highly recommend them.

They were all right. My husband dealt with them when they came out. It wasn’t the issue that we were having. They just charged us what I paid. It was not a big deal. My husband didn’t have the code for the purchase and he paid them.We called them back with the code and then they sent us the check back. They were very friendly and very good. We had no issues with scheduling an appointment. They came out when we need them to. They were professional and courteous. They were just wonderful.

It turned out great. They were professional and on-time. They cleaned out the drain in our basement. They came out within a week. It was a good value. I was happy with the work that was done. Fairly priced. They took off their shoes when they came in my house. I appreciated that.

In the middle of doing laundry on a Saturday morning, I discovered water backing up on the basement floor. I quickly perused Angie's list for a reputable service who would be available on very short notice to help with the problem. I placed a call to American Sewer and received a response within minutes. An "emergency" service request was placed and Seth was at my door in just a couple of hours. He assessed the problem as a thick root ball and not cracked or broken pipe as I feared, and quickly went to work. After an initial attempt with the larger snake that wasn't able to clear the roots, he then ran the smaller snake and removed an enormous pile of roots more than 3 feet long and matted so thick I was stunned that there was any water flow through the drain at all. He ran the line through again to make sure the clog was cleared then ran the larger line through to make sure the drain was completely root free. In the past I've had issues with root clogs and called a well known competitor that, as Seth explained, only managed to cut a hole through the massive root ball but did not completely clear the debris. In the end, the process took nearly two hours to complete and still cost considerably less than fees charged by the competitor. I feel confident that the job was done thoroughly and completely this time. I was very pleased with the professionalism, courtesy and efficiency and will most definitely contact American Sewer for any future drain issues. In fact I've already referred my sister who was having similar problems with water backing up on the basement floor.

It went well because everything went smoothly. The work was good and the price was reasonable.

The service was scheduled within a 3 hour window between 12 and 3 and John called right at 12:00 and said he would arrive in 15 minutes. He came in, checked the main bathroom tub and master bath shower, looked at the piping in the basement and decided to try through the shower. It took about 15 minutes and he pulled out a large amount of long hair, courtesy of my daughter. He cleaned up very nicely and we were back in business. The service was prompt, thorough and courteous. We couldn't have asked for more.

Jonathan's brother came out and had the job done in about 20 minutes. He was prompt and friendly. I highly recommend utilizing this business.

It was great! They showed up and cleared roots from the main sewer line from hour in about an hour. Great service!

My basement floor drain had residue within a few inches of it indicating liquid had backed up and overflowed around it. This happened 3 years ago when I then had Roto Rooter come and clear what was some apparent roots out toward the street in our main sewer drain. I figured this would be a similar scenario. Wanting to support the local ma-and-pa business, I bypassed calling Roto Rooter and found, on Angie's List, a local (just blocks away) vendor (American Sewer) which also included a $99 coupon which covers the first hour of work. I completed the basic form to enlist their services (this was on a weekend...Sunday I believe). On Monday morning, I received a call that they would likely be able to be at the house later Monday afternoon between 3-5pm. Christmas was just days away and I was a bit anxious to have it done, but it was not an emergency. Jonathon called me personally early in the afternoon and confirmed he would be out yet that afternoon. Time went past 5pm and I was beginning to wonder if they would need to reschedule (hey, things happen and sometimes you just can't always meet your anticipated plans due to unforeseen circumstances. About 5:20pm, he pulled in the driveway. I told him I didn't need it done yet that day since it was so late now (we STILL had a drain, just very slow) and he could come back if he wanted. He said he'd still do it...no problem with him! By shortly after 5:30 he had the snake machine (with help from his assistant) in the basement (I already had the access cover off the main line for him) and he did a few quick basement sink/drain checks with water and said it looked like a main line clog. He ran the snake to the street but didn't hit anything, and said it looked like the blockage was going to be between the main floor drain/vent, and the access cover we just ran the snake down. He mentioned something about $150 (?) for the additional main-line drain (I can't recall the exact verbage) and we moved the machine into the next room and proceeded. Sure enough, it was clogged and subsequently cleared. It was suspected the clog was chunks of debris cleared from our bath tub drain piping a month earlier by another plumbing vendor when we had some similar work (snake) and rusty piping replaced). After some confusion/misunderstanding about the Angie's list $99 payment I had made online, my invoice was for the additional $125 for the extra mainline job (between the floor drain the access cover). For the most part it was around an hour and a quarter total time spent here including me writing the check. I gave a B for price only because it seems a little confusing when Angie's list was $99 for the first hour and the $125 for the "extra" mainline work. I'm not fluent in how most vendors price out their work, but I'm also in the service business and I understand minimum costs and such, but our business does not utilize coupons and such, but does have a minimal labor time and bills in quarter-hour increments thereafter, etc. You could pay similar prices toward "national" companies, or pay your local-owned service vendor. I prefer the local-owned. I recommend Jonathon for anyone (including my best friends and family) and I will certainly consider him for future needs. He did a fine job, works hard, worked late, and knew what he was doing.

They answered the phone at 7:30 on a Friday night and came out at 10:30 the next morning. Very professional, quick, and gave me tips on how to keep the trap clean and how to clean up the mess. I will definitely call them again if the need arises.

Showed up on time. Called in advance with a heads-up on arrival time. Explained everything he was doing as he did it. He also answered questions I had about how to do preventative work. He recommended some remediation I could do and offered his professional advice on DIY options. This is the second time I have used this company. If you have any kind of drain issue, I would definitely recommend.

I wasn't overly-impressed but I wasn't under-impressed with American Sewer LLC either. If they had another deal similar to the one that I purchased I may use them again. They were very responsive and came right out after I purchased the deal.

Called to get main laundry line cleaned out. Came out later that afternoon and unclogged the drain in a matter of minutes.

I called Friday morning and he was at my house by Friday afternoon. Two men came to the door, proceeded to the bathroom and in just a few minutes time they were able to clear the drain of the hair and build up and the shower once again drains perfectly. Thank you!

They came out the day after Christmas, at night, when no one else was available. They were so responsive, but charged no more than other quotes I received from companies that couldn't make it out to the house for days.

The service was prompt and excellent. We had a very knowledgeable tech out. He explained what he was doing, why it needed to be done and also explained as he went along. Very experienced, professional, extremely pleasant to deal with. The service was fairly priced. We will definitely be calling on this company again for our needs. WE also took extra cards to pass on to family and neighbors if they need sewer service. Our experience was super.

I called Jonathon after calling another provider who did not respond to my call. He answered the phone right away, and said he could be out that same day between 3pm and 6pm. Jonathon and his assistant showed up a little after 3pm (amazing!! I didn't think any provider showed up at the beginning of their scheduled range!!). He and his assistant got to work promptly and made sure to take off their shoes and to cover the work area to ensure that our wood floors wouldn't get dirty or damaged. They proceeded to snake the drain which took about 20 minutes and that fixed the problem. He tested to make sure that the drain worked properly and that there were no leaks underneath the sink. He also thoroughly cleaned the less under the sink so we could just put our stuff back under there without cleaning it ourselves. I would highly recommend American Sewer LLC and would not hesitate to use them in the future should the need arise.

It was good and it went fine. The plumber was very nice. We had no problems with the scheduling.

You know you're getting someone who knows what they're doing and with that, they give you confidence. The method of doing the work done was fast, clean and simple.

Technician cleaned drain and discussed ways to keep pipe clean in the future. Have had no issues in the month since the drain was cleaned, even with heavy water usage.
