Description of Work: During a storm lightening hit a tree sending a branching falling in the electrical wires running to my house causing the electrical mast to be ripped off the side of my house. Within an hour they were at my house. They even bet the electrical company and disconnected the electrical service. They had a new mast and meter box installed in about an hour.

Description of Work: They did a half attempt at looking at the wiring of house using a device that checks outlet for polarity and ground... It's an old house built in 1949, so wiring isn't up to modern specifications (I already knew this)... The second electrician was supposed to check out wire issue in attic, he did a visual on attic and checked the breaker box with a meter. |At the end of everything they worked all of 30 min, took me aside and told me that I'd need about $4,000.00 worth of services. Then charged me an additional $125.00 for the inspection of attic wiring... After they left I spent two hours checking out the issue and fixing it myself... |I'll never use their services again, and I don't have much faith in Angie's list for recommending them!

Description of Work: Complete replacement of 100Amp service panel with 200Amp service panel. Overall each of the three electricians that were part of the process (quoting, and actual service) were all friendly and outgoing. I had a pretty big mess of a job on my hands to fix, and they explained the process and details very well so I could easily understand and determine the best course of action. | |Had a slight mishap of them not showing up for a quote/evaluation. Did end up getting a call back and rescheduled for the next day (had written it down but not entered to the schedule correctly). | |Job ended up taking much longer than expected (it was quite a mess), and in a rush they left behind some drywall mess HOWEVER, they asked before leaving if this was OK and agreed to take off of the service cost for it which I personally appreciated. | |Overall affordable certainly earns its name, coming in with the cheapest (and most well explained) bid for the job, yet still offering exceptional service. Would definitely hire again.

Description of Work: I was disappointed that they charged $49.95 to give a estimate to start with. The estimator told me I need other work done that another company said was not necessary. The bid was for an additional $2500.00 bringing the total cost to $3448.95 with the estimate charge. The next bid I received was in the neighbor hood of $1500.00 for exactly the same thing minus the additional work that Affordable told me I needed. I was very skeptical in the first place when seeing this offer and now do not trust Angies List.

Description of Work: I am not quite sure how to rate this experience since the job we requested was not completed by this company. |We asked for an estimate to rewire from our house to the garage and shed. The estimate seemed reasonable and we hired them. One guy came and gave us a bid. When the work began he was on vacation and another gentleman came with a small crew. There was a little delay on getting started and than a concern on how they were going to accomplish the job. When realizing they were not comfortable with the bid they gave us and we were told it would be more(though they weren't sure how much more at the time), we agreed to pay them for what they had done so far, which was to dig the trench(6") and place the pipe for the wiring. We told them we would look at an updated bid when they knew what it would be and we never heard back from them. | | | |

+ -1 moreNick showed up on time for the estimate appointment and was very thorough in explaining what would need to be done to do the work and comply with codes/state inspector, etc. We didn't schedule the work right away, but when I did call to get on the calendar he was able to fit it in within the following week. Trevor called the morning of to confirm, and completed the work ahead of schedule. He was also able to arrange to have the inspector come out that day. Everything checked out great. The inspector was familiar with the company and staff, and made very complimentary comments as well. I would use Affordable Electric again and recommend them to others.

We had another bid that was the same cost, but was recommended by a family member and their time schedule fit with our schedule a little better. Nick was prompt and very professional. I will definitely look for future bids from him on upcoming projects.

Nick's bid was the lowest, and he explained that some of the other work included on the other bids was unnecessary, mostly cosmetic. He started the day early at 7:30 to accommodate my needing to get to work, and he walked me through all the work he'd be doing. He gave me a great price on updating my outlets to be grounded. The work was all completed in one day, and there were no surprises on the bill. I've called him a couple times with follow-up questions and he's gotten back to me promptly.

+ -1 moreFirst off they called an hour prior to tell me they were running in to trouble on another project which was greatly appreciated. The electrician arrived at the new time and looked over the entire situation and listened to what I had to say. He immediately began troubleshooting which he did in a fast and detailed manner (I have and aviation electrical background). In less than an hour he had found a short in one of the track lights. He removed the questionable and everything worked after that. He finished on time and with the quoted price.
Description of Work: We had a circut breaker that would not reset. Six switches, two outlets, seven lights, and one track light were on the circut.

He then checked on exactly what we needed, gave an exact estimate, and got to work. They were here for less than an hour, were professional, neat, and courteous. It was a pleasure doing business with them. We will recommend them to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: We needed new wiring to accommodate the installation of a microwave above our oven. Nick and his partner quickly assessed the situation and immediately began to work, adding a new breaker and an outlet for the new appliance.
