The projects went very well. We were more than satisfied with the results and was even able to add on to our initial order and had a new CO/smoke detector installed. Our team was hard working and professional. They serviced two locations and did not complain or stall. We would not hesitate to call them again or to refer them to others in need of an electrician.

Everything was done well and on time.
Description of Work: We remodeled our upstairs and used Affordable Electric for everything. They helped us with redoing all of the electric and all new fixture. Nick was very helpful in telling us what was standard/in style/ on trend vs. worth/not worth the expense.

Can't say enough good things. Nick & Jason have a real eye for lighting design. Take their recommendations! You won't be disappointed!
Description of Work: I contacted Affordable Electric for cabinet LED lighting for my kitchen remodel. We then added new LED can lights throughout, dimmer switches here & there, toe kick lighting & new bathroom fixture! We hired them next to go to our shop & install commercial grade auto-lot lighting on our brick building exterior Next - my Mother needed some major electrical overhauling at her home. They switched out breakers, swapped out old wiring, fixed dead boxes, and installed a brand new electrical box to ensure her home is up to code & providing her safety for years to come, in addition to installing new fixtures throughout.

The electrician was punctual and professional during his visit. He successfully relocated the wiring in the attic to where the new fixture would be hung. However, two issues arose. First, upon completion of the wiring (instead of checking before any work was completed), he realized that the arc fault breaker kept tripping. As new homeowners at the time, we were told this breaker had to be installed to comply with city code as the house was built in the 1950's and did not have updated wiring. He said in order to correctly diagnose where the issue originated, he would have to do much more work and that it would be double what we already agreed upon. This took us by surprise because why wouldn't you test the new breaker before completing all the work? We were now in a tough spot because this seemingly small project was beginning to cost us much more money. The electrician said he would speak with the inspector, tell him of the issue and that he would be "okay with it" and would pass the inspection. Secondly, he claimed that the new light fixture could not be installed until the city inspector approved the permit. Again, as new homeowners, we thought this might be accurate. The electrician went on his way and said they would file the permit in a few business days. Two weeks go by and no word from the inspector to schedule a visit. Given this amount of time, we called the city. No, they had not yet received the permit. We called Affordable Electric and asked why it had not been sent. They said, "Oh, we just mailed it, should be there soon." We called the city again a week later and they had finally received the permit. During the conversation with the inspector we told him of the arc fault breaker issue (and that Affordable would speak with him and resolve the issue so that we would not spend more money) and that the electrician would not install the light until the permit was approved. The inspector was not very happy with Affordable as they were clearly misleading us. He said the breaker must be installed or the wiring will not be up to code. Also, the light must be installed before he will come to the house and inspect the work. We finally got Affordable to come back and install the light fixture and at this time they claimed, for the second time, that they would resolve the arc fault breaker issue with the inspector and he would approve the permit because they can't "force you" to install the new breaker if it doesn't work. As we knew from the conversation with the inspector, the permit would not be approved until the breaker was correctly installed. The light is now installed so that we are not without a dining room light (was disconnected for 1+ month); however, the old breaker was put back in the meantime. Update, this post was initially drafted in 2017 and never submitted. Shortly after this major debacle of working with Affordable Electric, we sought out another electrician to fix the mess. The new company did a wonderful job at a fair rate. This company has received repeat business from us as we were extremely satisfied with the work done to fix Affordable’s issue.

I did not know I had a dangerous fuse box. I just knew I could not use my disposal or dishwasher. I called four companies. They were the only one to come out first day. They found serious problems in the fuse box. They showed me the problems and explained how it happened. They ordered the parts, had the warehouse remain open to get the parts, and rearranged their schedule so they could come back and do the work next day. They were here at 7:30 the next morning and finished the work by 3 pm. They were extremely courteous and respectful of my home.
Description of Work: Replaced dangerous fuse box inside and out. Brought grounds up to date inside and out. Checked every outlet and marked them in the box. Replaced two faulty outlets. Provided whole house surge protection.

They arrived on time and were very pleasant. They informed me that my house had a lot of issues and it needed to be addressed ASAP. I asked them to please send me a write up of all the work that needed to be done so we can estimate how much it was going to cost. Well it has been almost three weeks and i still have not gotten any information of the services that need to be done on my house. I have emailed asking when I can expect to receive the information and while they are quick to respond it is always with an excuse as to why I haven't received it yet. Either they have been to busy to write it up or someone is out of town. However they weren't busy enough to send my their quote per hour they would charge for the work. Why would I ever agree to have them come fix anything in my house when they never told me what was wrong?

I called on a Sunday, in the morning because I had no heat. I got the owner's voice mail. Within minutes he called back and told me he would be at my house within two hours. He gave me an estimate on the phone. He was at my house in less than an hour. He worked quickly and efficiently, found the problem and was gone in less than 30 minutes. He reduced the fee from the estimated amount. I was very satisfied with the job he did and especially pleased with his quick response. I had called 6 electricians, all of whom are on Angie's List. Only one other responded and that was a couple hours later. I highly recommend this company, which is small and responsive to it's customers, and in this case, on the weekend.

Nick and his partner were to my house twice- the first time which proved that pulling new wire was not an option, and the second time to do the work needed. Nick was very helpful and consultative, and didn't pressure me to hire his services. I was very pleased with his approach and willingness to answer my questions and provide answers that were in the best interest of my long-term remodel objectives... even suggesting that delaying work would be cheapest in the long run if more extensive remodeling is to be done at a later time. Ultimately, I had the work done. Nick and his partner did a nice job cleaning up after themselves and completed the work as I'd wanted. While the final quote for the job was higher than we originally discussed, he was up front about the cost before we agreed to move forward. In fairness, more was done than our initial discussion. I felt they were thorough and did a quality job, and I do not feel like I was overcharged. The office also called several times and coordinated the city inspection to finalize the permit. Affordable Electric took care of all of that. I would contract them again.
Description of Work: Provider ran two new circuits from my basement panel to my main-floor kitchen to be used for Dishwasher/Disposal as well as a spare. Provider also replaced breakers for my wall oven and cooktop and ensured that the proper service was provided to my appliances, and finished installation of my wall oven.

The work that he did was fine, but he got to a certain point and said he couldn't complete the job, then just left it there. ?He didn't have the boxes and doesn't make them. ?He couldn't give me a recommendation as to who could do the job so now the job is unfinished. ?It has been sitting here for a couple of months without completion. ?It originally should have cost $750 but only ended up paying him $600 because the job could not be completed.
Description of Work: I had hired Affordable Electric to install two wall sconces with a switch inside the house. They were also supposed to build a box around the opening where the fixtures lie. The base of the fixture was to be flush with the side of the house, and the same color as the siding.

At the company's suggestion we saved some money by purchasing various replacement options for the closet and security lights before hand so that electrician didn't have to spend time for another trip to get the right light; then we returned lights that weren't chosen. Tracing the source of the short in the security light circuit was a methodical process that finally identified a short between two wires deep in the wall of the basement. Curtis informed us of each stage of the search.

I received a large estimate bill for electric work needed. Electrial socket overloads are a problem that cause the electricity to blow out and need to reset; in the basement bedroom and kitchen. I have questions on items of concern. I will be following up with question and possibly hiring this company. C rating given for overall due to just an inspection and no work has been done yet.
Description of Work: Quick assessment of electrical sockets and electrical outlets and electrical box in basement. There were two young men and they gave some feedback as they went-luckily I followed them, usually I allow professionals to their own business but I have learned that I learn nothing doing this...I tried to get this accomplised before I had to leave for work which was successful.

I needed a few days to think about this review. Some of my friends came over to see the "work" that was done and only enlightened me. For anyone who reads this, with any contractor. Get a ballpark price upfront before ANY work is done. And be specific with what you want, if they can't do it find someone that can. I wanted a coaxial cable, internet, and an outlet moved to my firepace. I wanted it to look clean and seamless. The positives. Affordable Electric came on time as described. Three guys did the job but they only billed for two. They were allrReally nice and pleasant. They were able to come the day after I called. Immediately on arrival but I feel as if they were fitting me in between jobs- and for that reason there was a rushing sensation. With rushing quality goes down. Basically what I got were messy holes in my drywall with those circle attach-a-patch over the hole- not entirely my idea of a low-profile modern look. Internet couldn't be moved "get a low voltage guy to do that" At least I got 2 of my 3 wires in and one of those working...... I would use them again if they were cheaper, gave a specific quote, and took their time. The owner/supervisor? obviously is skilled and knows what he is doing.

I am very happy with the ceiling fan that Affordable Electric installed for me. We got off to a rocky start when somehow my appointment was erased from their calendar, but once I called, Aaron arrived shortly thereafter. Aaron was very nice and helpful. He outlined my options and made sure I understood each one. We had a number of unexpected problems (including my brother-in-law having disconnected the wires to the ceiling fan connection), but we were able to work through them and get the fan installed. The ceiling fan looks and runs great. I will definitely call Affordable Electric again if I need electrical work in the future.

Two of the outlets in the basement found by the inspectors that were not grounded. Have the Affordable Electric over and installed the GFCI outlets with A/F breaker. After the installation the circuit/breaker keep tripping... The reason I rate them A - is because they layout the best approach that I should consider. Instead of adding new breaker just for those two outlets that required new wire and cutting walls, Nick and Jim explained to me that there are somewhere that caused the breaker continuous tripping. They start working on other outlets and fixed the tripping issue. I am glad that they convince me that we should look into other outlet instead of cutting walls. To cut this review short: they stop by 4 times and they waive the Service Fee on the last three visit. Thanks for all your help to get the issue solved.
