+ -1 moreSimilar to another review on this site, I had several windows replaced with Fibertec windows. The seals were defective on two casement windows. By the time we reported the problem to Above and Beyond, they had severed their relationship with Fibertec. That meant that we needed to pay the freight to ship the replacement glass from Ontario Canada to our house, which is quite a chunk of money. If we were to get the glass to our house, Above and Beyond would install the replacement at their cost. We appreciate that they are willing to do that. Our problem is with the manufacturer and not with Above and Beyond. They did a fine job installing our replacement windows. It is not their fault that the manufacturer provided defective windows.

+ -1 moreThe installation went well once the windows arrived. However, it turned out the window seals were faulty causing fog/haze on 6 windows (western exposure) due to a manufacturing defect. Fibertec backed the windows with a 25-year warranty, and Above and Beyond, Josh Rosen, was quite helpful in coordinating w/ Fibertec (Canada) to get the replacement service initiated as well as committing to the installation of the 6 new glass panes at $90 each. We are so pleased that Above and Beyond is still in business and so responsible to their prior customers.

+ 0 moreWe hired A&B in 2015 for new windows, mostly because they were the only company offering triple-paned windows and we wanted to increase our energy efficiency. We were and remain very happy with our windows. We hired them again in 2018 to install 3 new exterior doors, including 3 storm doors as well. We had some hiccups with the storm door installation. The product was very good but one part of the frame was installed incorrectly and they leaked. We called and A&B came out and fixed it and assisted us with testing the doors to make sure they didn't leak. Very satisfied with the product and the service. They are not the cheapest but they are very high quality, durable, and energy efficient.

+ -1 moreThe owners, Arlo Cook and Josh Rosen are fast talkers. The initial installation seemed to go pretty well but we noticed some flaws in some of the glass. We mentioned them to the installers and they agreed and said Arlo would call. He never did. I also found that Arlo's son, who was part of the installation crew, had caulked over the old caulk and left gaps all over. I tore out all the caulk and redid it myself. That fall I noticed a haze inside our South windows and reported it to Arlo. He said it was the glazing. Well, later these windows' seals began to fail. That's when the real issues began. After extensive delays and excuses I finally threatened to contact the better business bureau and post a negative review on Angie's list. That finally got Arlo to act. We still waited but we got the failed windows replaced. Unfortunately, we have had more South facing windows and sliding doors seals fail. It takes a year or more to get one of these replaced. We recently had 3 more panes of glass replaced (they were supposed to replace 4 and even quoted the cost for four) and they charged us to replace the glass. They were to supposed to replace the 2nd half of our kitchen window, which Arlo had personally told me was in their warehouse, but when I got home it had not been replaced. When I called Josh to see why they hadn't replaced the kitchen glass he said they never had the glass. We have been staring at streaks inside the glass for over a year now and it looks to be months more (maybe next spring) before it gets replaced. We have had at least one more south window seal fail and it too has streaks in it. Now Josh says I have to contact Fibertec directly for the warranty replacement because they no longer communicate with Fibertec. Josh says it is because Fibertec owes them over $70K for warranty work that they didn't pay. I suspect it is really because Fibertec has received so many complaints about Above and Beyond that they won't deal with them anymore. When A&B they replaced the 2nd piece of glass on our Master Bedroom window, the installer damaged the would veneer on the window frame. When I told Josh about this, he said "Impossible!" When you deal with these guys they are quick to interrupt and try to fast talk their way out of everything. This company has been my biggest disappointment out of anybody I have ever contracted with..
Description of Work: We hired Above and Beyond (I hate their name now because they do anything but) a number of years back because they were the only source of Fibertec high efficiency windows. They replaced all the windows and sliding glass doors in hour home with double and triple pain windows. The job was over $18K.

+ 0 moreWe had them install two FiberTec patio doors. We found the installer to be unprofessional and his workmanship shoddy. The interior trim work was bad and the exterior installation was poor as well. It seemed they took shortcuts to make it work rather than doing it correctly. It took three returns to our home for them to get it right. When we complained of the poor workmanship, we were told to contact the installer directly rather than him taking care of it. We did not experience good customer service and the communication was poor. Doors were good quality but a little heavy. I would not recommend this company for installation.

+ -1 moreWe replaced some original windows in our 30 year old house and one set of an H window that was 20 years old. The H Window was a triple pane that just could not hold its looks or function. Flipping the H Window over to clean it was nice, but that operating arm allowed too much cold into the house. The new Fibertec windows are so much quieter, I told my wife I could hear her thinking. We got the wood veneer like the original window we replaced in 2014 and they look super. I had a blower door test done on the house and there were no leaks on the windows. The installation was perfect. Clean up was very well done, no sign that they had been in the house. We also got the new interior trim that they just started offering and that also looks super. We did have trouble finding out what stain they used on the trim (it came stained and sealed) in order to match the wood veneer that we finished ourselves. We are planning on doing one or two more purchases to complete the windows in the house. They are expensive but well worth it.

The one glitch was that they had quoted us as having 2 footings on the deck but the township made them put in 4, so there were additional costs at the end of the project that were unexpected. The deck turned out great and we have been enjoying it so much this summer.

+ 0 moreGREAT!! Two installers took their time and did it right! I have never been so happy with a project! Since it was on the second floor I was expecting some problems, but they had scouted out the location when they had given me the bid and it went in without a hitch. Very neat and tidy with drop cloths and their own vacuum. The window looks great and true to claims we didn't have any problem with condensation on this window. Considering how cold it was this winter, I was pleasantly surprised.
Description of Work: Replaced one window on second floor. The only company that could do an operating window in one piece of that size. Every one else wanted to make it into two units. It is a fiberglass awning window made in Canada with an oak veneer on the inside.

+ 0 moreThey did a good job, I was pleased. It was quite expensive, but we chose a high grade door, because we wanted the energy efficiency. We got a triple pane one, and those are a lot more expensive. It took a long time to get the door, and that was the hardest thing. This was because the door was constructed in Canada, and they had to wait until they had a full truck before they came across the border with it.

+ -1 moreI called because the brick mould above and around my back door was rotting and the aluminum covering was falling off. Various storm doors over the years had never hung nor closed properly. I knew that replacing the brick mould was too small a job for Above and Beyond (who have replaced almost all my windows over the years). But I called anyway, wanting to know if they could recommend a handyperson who could handle it. Alan came out and said that I really needed a new complete door. Because I trust Above and Beyond and it seemed reasonable, I agreed. We worked through the selection of styles, colors, finishes, hardware and placed the order. It took about 2 months for the door to arrive. The installer came on one of those hideously cold winter days and completed the installation. He and the back hall were covered with dust when he was done. But the doors are in, they look great, are solid and will last forever (fiberglass). If it hadn't been so cold, I might have expected a little more cleanup but I didn't feel I could complain because of what he had accomplished so cheerfully.

+ -1 moreAbout three years ago, I contracted with Above & Beyond Construction to install 11 windows and 2 patio doors. I searched and reviewed a number of window companies and their products, but none compared to the Fibertec windows used by Above & Beyond Construction. Two well known Twin Cities window companies came to our house, measured and quoted a price for the windows and doors. The quotes seemed high and I felt the salesmen used undue pressure to try and get me to sign a contract immediately. (One company later called back and said a calculation error was made and lowered their price over $13,000.) When I met with Arlo and Josh of Above & Beyond Construction, the information provided was presented in a factual, straightforward manner with no hype or pressure what so ever. They did not rush and answered all questions completely. Because of the product quality, energy ratings, quoted price and the manner in which Arlo and Josh presented their services, I decided to contract with them. The crew that installed the windows and patio doors was very professional, courteous and neat. Each window and door opening was carefully prepared after the old windows and doors were removed. The new windows and doors were installed quickly and I was especially pleased with the care that was used to insure the new widows and doors were properly fitted, sealed, leveled, plumbed, insulated and caulked prior to the trim being replaced. After the work was completed, the crew chief took me around to inspect the windows and doors and showed me the ease at which the windows and doors operated. I have used a number of contractors over the years in several states and I rate this crew at the top of the list. In April of this year, I had the remaining 13 windows installed. The weather was cold, but the crew that installed the windows was mindful of the weather and worked quickly to complete the job. Again, this crew was was courteous, professional and neat. The installations went just as smoothly and accurately as the first set of installations. They are true professionals and they take their jobs seriously and with obvious pride. We have thoroughly enjoyed the Fibertec windows and doors. The house is much quieter and warmer. We have had no issues at all with the windows and doors and all operate properly and effortlessly. We have highly recommended Above & Beyond Construction to a number of friends and neighbors.

Their products seem to be a little pricier than other estimates I received, but the product is high quality and I enjoy working with this company. My interactions with every employee (from Sales, to installation and service) has been good. They call ahead, arrive on time, are very professional, very knowledgable. I know from past experience that they are responsive to questions and problems, even years after the installation. For this particular project I took advantage of a "Previous Customer Special" to receive a 20% discount.
Description of Work: I replaced 2 entry doors at my house. They came and provided the estimate, measured, ordered the doors and when the order arrived, they removed the old doors and disposed of them and installed the new doors.

+ -1 moreCalled Above and Beyond Construction Aug 2008, Arlo and Josh came over and pitched us their product. We came up with a replacement plan and ordered the windows. The manufacturer had issues getting the windows ready before winter so we ended up waiting until May 2009 before the windows were installed. The good: 1. The crew were a good group of guys, they replaced all 15 windows in 2 1/2 days. 2. The bay window installation, the window was quite heavy and they did a great job of installing it 3. Cleaned up the debris from the old windows 4. the construction of the windows is solid The bad parts of the installation: 1. the installation crew left knowing a screen for our sliding window was bent and doesn't have a good seal, have not had any follow up on that. 2. The outside aluminum wrap looked rushed on some windows in my opinion 3. The insulation around the windows, they pushed fiberglass insulation into the gaps, but we still have a lot of air flow around the windows, we re-insulated a room and when we pulled off the interior trim boards we could see gaps where insulation had not been properly installed around the windows. I would recommend to anyone replacing windows to have the expanding foam used around the windows instead of the fiberglass insulation, even if it costs a little bit more The bad of the windows (not the installers fault); 1. lead time on the windows 2. the bay window has fingerprints in between the panes of glass, not an easy fix once the window is installed 3. the seals on the double hung and sliders, maybe the windows are a little too rigid, the sealing system needs work, I feel a lot of air movement on these windows where the windows meet
Description of Work: Had all of the Anderson wood windows replaced in house with Fibertec triple pane Fiberglass windows. 2 of the windows had the interior trim pieces replaced. All of the outside was wrapped in white aluminum. Replaced a large living room picture window with a bay window.

Description of Work: Hardi Plank siding, replaced storm windows, and put up a stone wall. The quality of the work is great, the workers are sharp and polite and pleasant to work with. The quality is exceptional. They pay a lot of attention to detail. Their stone mason is slow (but awesome work). He is only slow because he does the work on a part time basis - stone work is in addition to his regular job. So that means evenings and weekends. The quality of his work is unbelievably good for a very reasonable price. The stone mason is a perfectionist and all my neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. If you have a little more time use him. You will like working with Arlo and his team.

Description of Work: Windows were installed in 9 openings, including a picture window with sliders on each end, and a "three light" (1/3, 1/3, 1/3) opening with a fixed window in the middle and a slider on either end. There were also 5 bedroom slider windows and an awning window in the bathroom and an awning window over the sink in the kitchen. Originally my wife and I had signed a contract for windows with another company but purely by chance I met Josh Rosen and we began discussing windows. I decided to have him come to our house and discuss various window options. When I began this process I thought that buying windows would be an "easy" task. Not so. However, Josh patiently explained to us the pros and cons of various window options and answered all of our very, very detailed questions. (I'm a retired finance professional so detail is important to me). My wife and I decided to cancel our contract with another company within the 3 day time limit and we were glad that we did! Had we gone ahead with our initial decision I'm convinced that we would not have achieved our primary objective which was "noise mitigation". We live on a busy county road and in the final analysis we had triple pane krypton vinyl windows (full windows-not inserts!) installed. The installers (Brian and Aaron) were meticulous beyond belief. We watched the two setting the windows in the openings and close was not good enough. The windows were absolutely level and plumb which makes the sliders and the locks work smoothly. Josh asked us to consider awning windows for the bath and kitchen and we were glad we went with that style. The existing windows were awning windows "tipped on their side" to act like casement windows. That presented some unique problems that were solved and every step of the process Brian discussed with us the issues and proposed solutions which were elegant to say the least. All the windows were thoroughly insulated with foam insulation around the frames before the jamb extentions and trim were installed. Brian installed new oak jamb extensions and new oak trim that Above & Behond provided to me ahead of time so I could stain to match to the vinyl windows. The finished jamb extensions and miter joints for the trim were expertly finished. Aaron wrapped the exterior brick molding and caulked the windows. Caulking is an art and Aaron would be second to none and the brick molding and sill wrap was meticulously applied. As to noise mitigation, we are delighted with the end result and would always select triple pane krypton for our situation. As to climate control, we were absolutely amazed at the difference in how the temperature is maintained in our home. We turn our thermostat down from 72 to 65 at night and to date the coldest night has been 38 degrees but the furnace never came on and the morning temperature was still 67 or above. Astounding! The name of the company is very fitting: Above and Beyond Construction. Josh, Brian, and Aaron went "above and beyond" to make sure that we ended up with that which we were trying to achieve. For the record, the windows are by Alside and I the NFRC ratings for the triple pane krypton vinyl windows are superb. I would hire Above and Beyond Construction for any project that falls withing their area of service.

The second time he came back to do the measurements, he is a good salesman! He was very accommodating, and the windows should be here by October, so I will update after they are installed.

What we did not appreciate about them was there were two of them, and one was like the head of the deck part and the other one was maybe the project manager. They gave me a price. One looked at the other one, and asked if they could give me a 10% off, and they gave me a 10% off. Then, they looked at each other again and gave me another 5% off. I responded to them that I did not care for that kind. Just for that fact, we wrote them off our list, plus they really, really pushed for a cedar deck, and that is not what we wanted.

+ -1 moreThey did a great job. The windows look great. I felt pretty comfortable with the product that they showed me. I had no problems. They were here whenever they said they would be here. They even got the job done quicker than they said. On the downside, there was a long lead time. It was at least three months after I ordered it that I got the windows. It would've been nice to get it in sooner, but it was not such a big deal. I went through all the different brands, and I found that they were all expensive. However, Above & Beyond Construction were cheaper than one brand. If I had any issues they would always call me back within that day.
Description of Work: I used Above & Beyond Construction to install windows. They even replaced a kitchen window.
