+ 0 moreI needed an very old hot water boiler replaced. I have a large home with four zones ( there's a lot of piping - that need support when the old boiler would be removed). John at Aaztec had a very reasonable bid for a replacement boiler. He also arranged for an asbestos abatement firm to remove the old boiler. He replaced the boiler the very next day. I'm an engineer, and I can tell you that John knows boilers!

He was quick to give us a bid, quick to fit in the service before it got too cold and also has had a few consulting calls with me post service to ensure that I knew how to work the machine and trouble shoot if needed. + -1 moreI called John on a recommendation from another plumber, Trenk Mechanical, who had done excellent gas service work for me. John was recommended for his boiler expertise. As I own a rental property with a boiler, in addition to our own home with a boiler, I had called John on several occasions in the past since the recommendation and each time he talked me through issues to isolate and fix the problem and save us the expense of an unnecessary trip, if at all possible. As I read reviews now, I can see this is a normal mode of operation for him. But, when my boiler and hot water were really down and out, and clearly beyond just diagnosing something simple, he rapidly came out to get us going again even though we were further from his target service area than his preference would have been to take. In his diagnosis he assessed and fixed the issue with the boiler in short order, and then went on to solve the issue with the boiler fired water heater too, and provided a quote for other issues that were not immediate and would require more planning and materials. I was very happy with the service, work and fee and would be glad to use John and Aaztec again for both of my properties.
Description of Work: John and his Technician found and fixed a loose wire on my boiler / hot water system that had caused our hot water to go down.

+ -1 moreI sought help with my aging SW Mpls boiler and a radiator, was told by John over the phone he would be out the next afternoon and was told to wait for a call. No call came. Called him back, left my name and number asking when he thought he might be out. No call returned. Too busy with A/C perhaps, or has better things to do than to communicate with potential customers.
Description of Work: Perhaps Aaztec is good once you get them into your house, but they seem very selective about what work they perform. I couldn't get this business to come onsite or perform work, and was not given a reason or excuse. Waste of time.

+ -1 moreJohn at Aaztec was able to complete this work very quickly and with very shot notice. He did this work at a duplex I own that has renters in each unit during the dead of winter when it was very cold. He was very accommodating to my renters to make sure they were NOT inconvenienced and even provided space heaters for my tenants to use during the work time. He made it very easy for me by bringing in his own sub contractors to remove the asbestos, safely and legally as well as an electrician to run the proper wiring. He did all of this and was still the best price out of the 4 different bids I got to complete the work. This is the 3rd time I've used Aaztec and once again, John has delivered above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend you connect with him for any work you need with heating or cooling.

+ -1 moreOver all, I keep John's number in my phone so I can hand it out to anyone who says they need help with the boilers. He is now my go to man for any heating problems I have in the future. What else surprised me was that he some how he remembered me and my duplex even though the last time he helped me was well over a year ago. This helped him simplify the troubleshooting steps he gave me since he could relate it to my specific scenario. Additional Info: Last time I worked with John, it required him to come to my duplex to inspect both boilers. He was on time, professional and very knowledgeable. He spent the time to explain to me what he was doing and took the time to educate me on the basics I should know about the heating system in the duplex so I could solve the simple problems on my own and only call him in when I need help with a big fix.
Description of Work: John from Aaztec once again was awesome! He saved me a bunch of money and time. This week we had one of the coldest days of the year and the boiler stopped working in one of the units at the Duplex I manage. I needed an immediate fix so I called 3 Heating & Cooling companies to see who's repair list I could get on last minute and get help right away. The first two companies wanted to charge me $75 just to show up, which I was willing to accept since I needed to fix the heat immediately for my tenants. Foolishly, I called John last even though he had given me excellent service in the past and had spent the time to educate me on the simple things about heating systems. John didn't bother setting an appointment with me right away, instead he started troubleshooting with me right over the phone. He explained the basic troubleshooting steps that I can take even though I am not a handy person. After I went through all the troubleshooting steps he gave me, I called him again, at 7:30pm, he took my call and walked me through a few more final troubleshooting steps to ensure there weren't any more quick easy fixes that I could do myself. Long story short, it was the batteries in the thermostat that was the problem. John was nice enough to not make me feel like a complete fool for not checking this right away(thanks John). And he saved me at least $75 that the other companies would have charged me just to show up.

+ -1 morehe was professional from arrival (also on time). he removed his boots in the foyer without being asked. he was quiet and efficient. work began without any problems. he reviewed our requirements and went to work on his tasks. after about 45 minutes, he was finished and we asked him to look at our overly complicated temp gauge for the whole system. he offered to replace it with a simpler unit at no additional cost. since his visit, we have had no problems setting and maintaining desired temps.
Description of Work: service rep checked and replaced filters for Alpine Air filtration system. he also instructed us on cleaning filters and demonstrated best techniques for this. he removed his boots on entering the house and was professional and courteous during the visit. the whole visit took about 45 mins and on the way out, he replaced our temperature gauge that was giving us troubles setting and maintaining desired temps. this was an additional service which he was more than happy to perform at no cost.

John explained how the system worked and offered to come back and assist me if/when I need to bleed the system in the future. The price was exactly what was quoted and the system works very well! I waited until the 1st subzero day to write my report and I'm happy to say that I am warm and cozy in my newly radiant heated home!!

Aaztec's price was about $2000 less than one company and about the same as the other company. We decided to go with Aaztec because John seemed very knowledgeable. I'm glad we did. He and his team did excellent work--even the inspector complemented the installation of the new boiler. And when John's team ran into a problem (in a hard-to-reach wall cavity, a previous owner had used a poor connection between copper and steel piping), they stayed extra late to finish the necessary work. Overall, we've been very happy with the results, and John has been great at following up and making sure everything is working properly. I highly recommend Aaztec's services.

The whole job was performed very efficiently and with virtually no inconvenience to me. Everyone involved was very polite and friendly and a pleasure to have in the house. I highly recommend this service provider.
Description of Work: Complete asbestos removal from the basement. Removal of the old boiler and installation of a new high efficient boiler. Installation of control valves for baseboard radiators to prevent wasted heat in over heated rooms.

+ -1 moreI agreed to pay by check on Monday after the final parts were installed and all was accomplished as promised. Price was fair. I had a fair amount of clean up from wet boots etc., but water damage was minimal. One cabinet was scratched so that was too bad.
Description of Work: Radiators froze in an adjacent porch and they arrived within an hour of my call on a Saturday and removed and replaced my cracked radiators. It was a miracle that my big problem was solved in one day on a weekend.
