The plumber, DJ, did an excellent job replacing an exterior faucet behind our house. He told us exactly what the price would be and how he would replace the old leaky faucet. We will definitely use TJK Plumbing for any future projects. Fast, reliable and professional.

We have been customers of TJK Plumbing since 2010. TJ has completed seven prior jobs for us, costs ranging from $145 to $1000. On April 2013, TJ replaced two toilets in our home, both of which were purchased from him and installed by him. On April 19, 2013, TJ replaced the tub and shower valve and spout in our bathroom; the valve and spout were purchased from him and installed by him. He completed additional jobs for us in May 2013 ($500) and in March 2016 ($415). In June 2016, we contacted TJ for problems with one of the toilets he had put in in 2013. When TJ came out, he replaced the fill valve and supply line ($230). In April 2017, we contacted TJ for two problems. One of TJ’s assistants came out. • Problem 1: Tub and shower spout he’d installed was not working properly. TJ’s assistant told us the tub and shower valve and spout needed to be replaced. He did not have a spout that matched the tub/shower fixtures and wanted us to let him install whatever he had on hand. We told him we would prefer to have the fixtures match. He was clearly not happy about our choice and said he’d have to order the parts, which would mean he’d have to come back the following week. He returned on 4/15/17, and put in the new tub spout/shower valve for charge of $215. Why the tub spout/shower valve TJ had put in only four years ago already needed to be replaced was not dealt with. • Problem 2: Large wet circular area on living room ceiling below the upstairs toilet. TJ’s assistant checked area on the ceiling and said it was dry to the touch, which he said this suggested it was probably not the toilet. He then removed a few inches of caulk from the base of the toilet. He said if the toilet was leaking, water should run out when the caulk is removed. No water ran out. He stuck a piece of paper into the opening where he’d removed the caulk stating that if the toilet is leaking, the paper will be wet when it is removed. The paper remained dry. He told us he could pull the toilet, which would cost $250, but since there was no sign of water from the caulk removal and the ceiling was dry, pulling the toilet was not necessary. He said as an extra check, he would leave the caulk off until he returned the following week to complete the faucet. He said if the toilet is leaking, we should see water coming out where the caulk was removed. He also told us to periodically slide a piece of paper into the opening to check for water. No water ran out and the paper remained dry every time we checked. When he returned on 4/15/17, he told us that if no water had come out all week, the toilet was not leaking. He replaced the caulk he removed. About two weeks later we noticed the discolored area on the living room ceiling had gotten worse; it was bigger, more discolored and paint was flaking off. We got up on a ladder to fell the area and it was very wet. Based on TJK Plumbing ruling out the toilet as the source of the water, we had a construction/roofing contractor come out. As soon as the contractor looked at the area, he said it had to be the toilet because the discolored, wet area is directly below the toilet and there was no evidence of water coming from another source (e.g. there would be a line across the ceiling where the water had run from its source). He cut a hole in the ceiling, which confirmed the water was coming from toilet. He pulled the toilet and pointed out that the toilet had not been installed correctly. Although two wax rings had been used, they were barely compressed and had not created an adequate seal. As he explained it, in older homes such as ours, it is common for new floor to have been laid on top of the old floor resulting in the toilet flange being too low to seal with usual wax ring. He said, when that occurs, the poor seal results in water running down into the gap, which is below the floor level and water would not be seen coming out at the base of the toilet when the caulk is removed. The contractor built up the flange and replaced the toilet. Total charge for pulling toilet, rebuilding flange and reinstalling the toilet was $150. We then had to have the ceiling repaired. We contacted TJ to let him know that in fact a toilet leak was the problem and express our concern about his assistant not identifying the leak and the improper installation. TJ was not receptive to our concerns and was quite defensive. He put the responsibility on us for not having the toilet pulled. We explained that we did not have the toilet pulled because his assistant told us it wasn’t necessary. TJ’s response was ““We can’t make people spend money.” We again tried to explain that his assistant told us if the toilet was leaking then water would come out when the caulk was removed paper put in the opening would get wet. TJ kept repeating that it was not his fault that we did not want to spend the money to have the toilet pulled. We pointed out that he had sold us the toilet and installed and if installed properly, it would not be leaking after only four years. TJ acknowledged a properly installed toilet should not be leaking that soon after installation. However, he did not acknowledge a mistake or error, offered no apology, and offered no corrective action. In fact, his only comment other than not being able to make people spend money was to suggest that he gave us a break by not charging us for having to return to complete the spout replacement. He was clearly annoyed that we were not willing to accept whatever he had on his truck and wanted fixtures that matched. This is a completely unacceptable response to long-standing, loyal customers. Although TJ’s prices have been significantly higher than competitors, we continued to use his plumbing services because he did quality work and was personable and responsive. Given the questionable quality of products sold and work completed and lack of accountability, we will no longer be using TJK Plumbing.

Work was done promptly, worker was courteous-honored $10 coupon I had-will call them next time I need any plumbing work done.

In both cases they were fixed very promptly!

Plumber suggested I purchase a new one instead of the repairs I thought were needed.

The part that was leaking water was replaced.

TJK Plumbing was really fantastic. He gave me a quote to begin with so I knew about how much it would cost me. He did the job in a very reasonable amount of time. He cleaned everything and well it was perfect. If I ever have a need for plumbing again TJK will be my first call.

TJ called me shortly after I reached out to him and a few contractors. TJ called me back first and walked me through a couple things I could try on my own FOR FREE, which resolved the issue! He said I might be able to fix it on my own and if not, he'd have someone out the same day. My issue was fixed at no cost to me; incredible service!

I had an unidentified leak. It was fixed and cleaned up in less than 2 hours.

Dan came out first to assess our very low water pressure problem. He decided it was caused by our old water lines that had copper to galvanized steel connections had caused major corrosion inside the pipes. We had a quote written up and decided to go ahead and have our water lines replaced. TJ and Dan did the work. They were great. We even saved money on our quote since they didn't have to replace lines in one area because there was no corrosion. We would recommend them to anyone who needs household plumbing done. Our water pressure now is better than it's ever been living in this house. We are very happy with the work we had done.

TJ provided the recommendation that before he come out and charge us that we run bleach through the washer. It did the trick. I'm so thankful for the recommendation because he could have charged us to come out to look at it but instead provided great advice saving us time and money. Thanks so much TJ!

TJ always does a great job and makes sure that is team does good work as well. If you have any issues with a team member he will fix the problem and come out to do the work himself if that is needed.

The night before the double sink in the kitchen backed up. I searched Angie's list and called TJK to see if they could do an emergency service that night. TJ called me back within a short time. He explained that he could send someone out but the cost would be more since it was after hours. He said if we could wait till morning he would explain how to shut off water. I said I think we could wait. He gave us a window of 9 am-1 for the next day. He explained the pricing and said that the plumber would call 30 minutes ahead of time. They called about 10 am and were there in 15 minutes (he asked if that was enough leeway time). I said yes. The colorful TKJ truck pulled up and Josiah and Sid came into the house. They took their shoes off, and went to investigate. He presented possible scenarios and hoped he could solve the issue by snaking the pipes. He also checked the pipes in the basement. They snaked the drain and then tested it but it was still plugged, so he snaked it again, and Voila! it was fixed. They checked for any water leaks both downstairs and under the sink. All checked out. They cleaned up the area. Josiah served in his apprentice role to Sid. I also asked if they would give me an estimate for a rattling faucet on the side of the house. They checked that out and determined that it was an old faucet and that to replace it would be about $295.00. He said there was no harm leaving it that way but if we wanted to get rid of the rattling, the faucet could be replaced. I thanked them and said I would wait on this work. Both Sid and Josiah were professional in every way and didn't mind my hanging out and watching along with our wire hair fox terrier. They also had great things to say about the company. I highly recommend this company and am glad to have found them.

I just bought a gas stove and needed a gas line installed. They did a really great job with minimal mess and with a really reasonable price considering how far they needed to go to extend the gas piping in the basement ceiling. I was really impressed and they do a really great job. I will certainly use them again in the future when I need some work in my kitchen and bathroom and in my basement remodeling.

They showed up on time and were very professional and friendly. They thoroughly explained what my options were and what would happen if they found more serious problems. They fixed both faucets very quickly. They gave me reasonable expectations about how long other equipment would likely last in my home. I will need a new water softener soon, and they told me the pros and cons of different kinds at different price points. They were quick, professional, and friendly.

I initially contacted TJ through Angie's list , we set up a service call and TJ arrived promptly at the start of the 2 hour window. He very quickly replaced the outside faucet and added an inside shut off. He was so awesome I asked him to look at a faucet in my upstairs bathroom and asked if he had time to take care of that or if I could schedule another appointment to have him fix this. He went right to work, I ended up needing a new faucet, which he replaced. He did such a great job and his prices were less than other plumbers I had contacted for the outside faucet. I've already scheduled TJ to come back and replace and relocate a second outside faucet. and will definitely call him for any other future plumbing I may need.

TJ's great. Ended up charging less than the very reasonable bid even though the job took longer than he'd planned that day and it put him behind schedule. Plus, he loves friendly dogs! I'd call him again in a heartbeat.

TJ was great to work with! His bid was at the high end compared to others (though not the highest). We asked him to explain why it was more and he graciously ran us through the whole process and explained everything that his included. Since our job included tearing up concrete and installing drains and running water lines, we wanted to make sure we had someone that knew what they were doing and we felt very comfortable working with TJ. He is an expert at his trade and knows EVERYTHING about plumbing. We have already recommended him to our neighbors and will continue to do so. Great work with a great personality at a fair price. Highly recommend.

I like the results. A previous plumber did a poor repair job that didn't last a year. This was a very different experience.

TJ was recommended by a neighbor in 2012, and I had him remove the tub and install new tub/hardware in main upstairs bath at that time. The basement shower was not installed properly by the previous owner (the mortar was not properly leveled and the walls were glued to the sheetrock instead of attached to the studs), but I had other more urgent improvements needed at the time and so just had the basement shower demolished and replaced this month. TJ and/or his employee worked very hard all day, and the shower walls/pan are beautiful (and level!!). They even worked around my need for a phone conference (I was working from home the day the work was done). I plan on having TJ replace my old water softener in a week or two, as well. Very ethical, quotes only necessary work, is willing to work with the homeowner's style/budget (as a single female homeowner, I have previously run into issues with unethical contractors; no such problem with TJ). Highly recommend.

TJ is an incredibly helpful plumber. I found him on Angie?s List last summer and used him for other work on my house. This time, I noticed my water heater was acting funny and gave TJ a call. After texting pictures of my heater, and explaining the problem, TJ gave me a quick and fair estimate on replacement of my old unit and/or repair. It only came to several hundred dollars to replace the water heater (ours was 12 years old), so we went with this option. He was able to come out 3 days later, and gave a courtesy 45 minute call for heads up. TJ worked with our home owners warranty people over the phone when he arrived and installed the unit with no problem. In all it took about 2 hours for him and his co-worker to replace and remove the old water heater. Our new one is awesome, and my wife and I both love having truly hot showers again! Thanks TJ, I?d definitely recommend you to anyone needing a plumber.
