We had 4 different quotes for carpet installation and Home Depot was the cheapest of all. Since Home Depot was the last quote we received we knew the approximate square footage and room dimensions to get a rough estimate in store before they sent someone out to measure. Unlike the other 3 companies Home Depot charged $50 to come out and measure the house; if you have them complete the job the $50 is credited towards the job. Since the rough estimate in store was several hundred dollars lower than any other quote we decided to go ahead and pay the $50 and have someone come measure. The gentleman that measured for the quote was very fast and professional and had all the rooms drawn out on an iPad. The final quote after measuring was very close the the original estimate so we went ahead with scheduling the installation. As promised we received a phone call the day before the installation to let us know the 2 hour window of when they would arrive. On the day of installation they were running early and called me to ensure it was okay to come early. The job was finished in less than the estimated 8 hours and the crew vacuumed afterwards. The carpet looked great and made the place look like new. The only negative feedback I have is in regards to their insistence that we remove the old sub-flooring. In our basement there were 12x12" linoleum adhesive tiles on the floor. All other carpet companies that provided us quotes said they could install right over it. Home Depot insisted we remove it first citing their warranty. In our case though we installed the carpet and listed the house for sale 4 days later. Home Depot informed us that the warranty is not transferable and we had to make several phone calls to explain our situation and get their approval to not remove these old tiles (we started to remove them but it was exceedingly difficult and painstaking). In the end we did finally get the approval to not remove the old vinyl tiles but it was a large hassle. Lastly, I've received 2 follow-up phone calls from Home Depot asking for feedback. The calls were made by live representatives but they could have been robots for all the interest they showed in our situation. I would much rather have spoken with someone local, from the store or from the installation crew instead of speaking with a disinterested call center representative in another part of the country (or world).
Description of Work: Installed new carpeting in the entire house including areas that previously were not carpeted.

The guys showed up on time, called to let me know just before they arrived. They were pleasant, clean (carried in their broom) and finished quickly.
Description of Work: Installed flooring (laminate vinyl), which looks great. The installers were very pleasant, hard workers, and cleaned everything up. A very positive experience, as the floor looks great.

. I bought it from them. I do not know if those were sub-contracted. Our initial sales process was efficient and friendly. The installers were helpful. When we ran into trouble the sales person disappeared. Home Depot was responsive. We will use them in the future.
Description of Work: . I used Home Depot for refacing my kitchen cabinets.

The staff at the store that was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable within the limits of their training. The person we worked with made several suggestions that appeared to be simple in retrospect but were very useful because we had not thought of them. In brief, I was very happy with the design consultants and appliance sales people in the store. Several things caused us to not go with Home Depot. A major concern was the defined customer / Home Depot relationship: • There were no reviews, which I could find on Angie’s List, a condition that probably is not within the control of Home Depot. But it limited my information available and became more significant in the light of the next two items. • When asked for a reference list the design consultant told us that Home Depot did not invade the privacy of their customers by giving out their names as references. This item is within the control of Home Depot. • If we were to have used them we would have to pay the entire bill up front thus giving us no hook to get their attention if things were not to our satisfaction later on. The combination of the above three items added up to a deal breaker. In addition there may have been another deal breaker; the time to measure and install counter tops. Three things are very important to me when re-doing a kitchen; quality of product, cost, and time to complete the project. When it comes to time, I am not concerned about the get ready and planning time, the time before the old kitchen is torn up. But once the old kitchen is torn out I want NO time wasted; I do not want to be forced out of the kitchen longer than is absolutely necessary. I understand that the final measure for the counter tops must take place after the base cabinets are installed. I was told by a kitchen planner at Home Depot that it was four to six weeks from the time the counters are measured until the counter tops are installed because it takes that long to make the counters. I don’t believe it. I believe that you do not go on the waiting list until the counters are measured and if the waiting list is five weeks, it takes six weeks to get your counter top. If I were to go on the waiting list with a scheduled measure date with two weeks to complete the counters, the day I sign the contract, I could get the counters installed no more than two weeks after the cabinets are measured. Thus, cutting five weeks out of my schedule! Home Depot seems to have no interest in making the customer’s life better. Under current practices and policies I will not use Home Depot for major kitchen remodeling. If they change some practices and polices, I would consider them. We have signed with an interior design builder. I am confident that it will cost more but I also believe that the company service and concern for the customer will be better. They have given us a total project schedule that is eight weeks which is very little longer than the stated measure to install of counter tops for Home Depot.

Home Depot had a "sale" on cabinet refacing and we had a consultation who indicated we had to sign a contract that day to keep the sale. We verified that we had 3 days to cancel the contract before we signed. We quickly got some estimates from smaller re-facing contractors who were about 60% of Home Depot's price. It appeared Home Depot had quality materials and we liked the consultation except for the pressure to sign. We hired a different contractor at a much cheaper price and are very happy with the service and results.
Description of Work: We had the home depot kitchen designers come for an estimate.

It was the best experience we had during the entire remodeling project, as we were getting our house remodeled at that time. It’s a brand new Home Depot in Maple Grove. Everything was excellent about them, as they took care of us in the store. They also helped us with the selection and the cabinet lay out. The guy who installed the countertops and the cabinets was very meticulous. He knew exactly as to what he was doing and fixed everything in the right way, which was great. He had drilled a hole in one of the doors in the wrong spot and he had the door replaced in one day. He came on time and got the work done. He put some of the cherry wood trim in and around some of the soffit areas. The craftsmanship was excellent and I would use them again in the future. I decided to purchase the countertops and the cabinets from them, as the Home Depot store in Maple Grove has a system to design your kitchen for you on the computer. They also had a special center for that, whereas the other Home Depot store from where I bought windows didn’t have that facility.
Description of Work: We purchased kitchen cabinets and countertops from Home Depot about 2 years ago.
