It went great. This was the most stress free, easy, project we have ever hired for. Val was so easy going, knowledgable, and prompt. I have never hired someone who didn't require a deposit or ask to be paid anything until the job was completed. He estimated the job would take 3 to 5 days, it took 4 days start to finish and it turned out beautiful. We purchased our own tile, Val offered to pick it up at the Tile Shop, however the tile shop delivered to us. Val's brother actually did the job and he was on time and very informative, asked questions when appropriate and did a beautiful job. Never had a project go so well. I would recommend them to anyone!

A to Z Tile & Stone did an absolutely amazing job on our master bathroom! From the get-go Val was very helpful in suggesting where to buy tile, how many square feet of tile to purchase and even called several tile shops so we could use his contractor discount on the tile we had chosen. From start to finish the tile work took a total of 6 business days to be completed. During those 6 days, A to Z Tile & Stone was extremely courteous and responsive to any questions or concerns we had and always checked in if they had any questions as to how we wanted something finished. Given our experience with Val and the A to Z Tile & Stone team we would HIGHLY recommend them as they did superb work and the price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: A to Z Tile & Stone Inc. made the following upgrades to our Master Bathroom: 1) Removed old shower walls and base. 2) Re-framed wall between shower and tub to standard 4 inch width. 3) Built shower base with liner/curb/mud bed. 4) Installed new tile on the shower floor, curb and walls. 5) Removed old shower valve/fixtures and installed new ones. 6) Replaced backsplash around the tub with a tiled backsplash and tiled the ledge on both sides of the tub. 7) Re-tiled bathroom floor. 8) Provided/installed/tiled niche in the shower wall. Note: The price of $4,150.00 reflects the labor A to Z Tile charged for these upgrades; however all tile, shower fixtures, etc. were purchase separately by the homeowner.

The work done looks very nice. The only downside was that the marble had to be cut in my garage due to the cold weather outside. The wet marble dust got splattered over items in the garage which could have been prevented by using plastic drop cloths.

We usually try to avoid and water splashing from the wetsaw and normally cut outside, due to bellow 0 temperatures we had to cut inside the garage. We can minimize that dust and water splashing but cant totally avoid it 100%. Thank you and it was a pleasure working with you! God Bless!

Our job was scheduled to begin at 9:30 on a Monday morning with a snow storm outside and Val was ringing our doorbell at 9:30 on the dot. We're in a condo so they laid a sound barrier first, and then got to work with the tile layout. We had three rooms running together, and at the end of the job all three rooms were perfectly balanced with no awkward short sides. They were about 5% higher than our other bids, but did a much more thorough job than the others were willing to do. Communication was great, clean-up was thorough, and everyone was pleasant to deal with. The tiling itself was, of course, perfect. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

This is a family run and operated company that treats you like family (in the best sense). We had Val quote us a year ago to do the work, but due to some unforeseen delays with our foundation and other remodeling, we just now completed the work. Val and his family did great work for us over a very hectic few weeks. They were incredibly patient and willing to work around our other contractors and our old concrete subfloor, as well as provide candid advice on how to make something better when they saw an issue. Our other contractors were also impressed with their work, speed, and quality. We are looking forward to having them back to complete the master bathroom renovations in a month or so. Thank you, Val, John, and Tim!
Description of Work: Had a new walk-in shower and bathroom floor, bar floor, patio door entry floor, and foyer/hall/half-bath floor tiled by A to Z in travertine. Cost included labor, grout, sealant and all other materials except for tile. They picked up the tile after we ordered at the Tile Shop in Plymouth.

The new tiling looks great. We are very happy with the quality of the installation. The portion of the tiling that extends along the wall now ends a few inches lower than it used to, leaving a gap that we will have to paint over. But we were planning to repaint the room anyway, so this was not a concern for us. Overall, we are very happy with the results, and feel the crew did a good job working around the irregular geometry of our bathroom. They also cleaned up well after themselves, clearing all debris in the bathroom, stairway, and entry.
Description of Work: Our bathroom from 1905 home needed new tiles in the shower, and along one wall behind the sink and toilet. We hired A to Z Tile and Stone to remove the old tile in the shower, repair the drywall, install new fixtures, and install new tiles (a simple white subway ceramic tile). The crew got a late start on the first day due to a vehicle breakdown, and did not bring tools for installing the new fixtures. These delays forced them to come in an extra day to finish the work (thus finishing in four days instead of the scheduled three). Once the project was underway, the crew worked hard and cheerfully, responding well to our kids when they wandered in to check on the progress. There were no delays on the other three workdays.

Val was referred to me by another tile installer. He did the estimate, gave several options with varying costs, was okay using my previously purchased tile and his guys came over and had my shower done if a few days. The guys that came over were cleaned up all the demo and dust very well and I felt comfortable leaving them while I went to work. Over all, great work, good price and great service.

The whole process was seamless. Val came promptly for a free estimate which he honored when they did the work. Communication was clear and prompt, using phone and emails with attachment. When we requested additional work over what was originally estimated, he was very clear about the cost involved and it made it easy to make a decision about what additional work we wanted to do. The work they completed was of outstanding quality and was completed in a timely way. They demonstrated clear attention to detail and Val was great at communicating with me whethever there was a decision needed (i.e. at what level to put the decorative tiles, the tile shelves etc). Val did a lot of the work himself along with two co-workers. I really appreciated being able to chose the tiles and have the quote be on the labor alone, as this gave me more freedom to decide on the style I wanted without taking their time. They passed down the contractor discount at the Tile Shop which was also a great help to keep the cost down. After they were done our master bath looks beautifully transformed and we are extremely happy with the process and the product. We definitely will recommend them to our friends and neighbors !
Description of Work: Removal of old tile in shower walls and floor. Redoing whole shower including new mud floor and backwalls, tiles and fixtures. Removal of old tiles and toilet in small toilet room retiling and reinstalling toilet. Removal of carpet and wood backing to one side of tub and reinstalling backboard and tiles in that side area. Cost is for labor only. We picked and bought the tiles, fixtures and toilet.

We wanted to change our main bath from a big Jacuzzi tub to a bath/shower combo. We had a few estimates and went with A to Z Tile because they were willing to do exactly what we wanted done that fit our budget. We needed to purchase the tile, bathtub and accessories and they were willing to pick up those items at the store for us. With that said, we are not experienced with products and measurements but Val was helpful and patient with guiding us along the way. Val is a very skilled craftsman with a great work ethic. He did a lot of work for the money and we are very happy with the results. We will definitely use A to Z Tile for any of our future tile projects.

Val came right on time and gave me an estimate. He doesn't fool around and because he is so knowledgeable in what he does, he doesn't need a lot of time to do the estimate. I asked for a breakdown on different things we wanted to do to the bathroom. He came back when we hired him to measure for tile and tell me where to go to get it. We had to match tile from the 50s and we were able to. He was always on time, very trustworthy, very professional, his work was incredible. Unfortunately our new facet/shower leaked so he came the next day and got a new part for it and redid it at no extra cost. Everything is beautiful, everything was done on time and there were no surprises. Val is a standup guy and I would recommend him highly.

We have used A to Z Tile on several occasions now. They do great work. They are careful and conscientious. Their prices are reasonable. Above all, their customer service is excellent. With our latest tile job, we encountered a problem with the tile we purchased. This was discovered at the very last moment, when the tilers were already into the job. Val's crew very willingly ran out and bought us the new tile we needed so that the job could be completed on time, and my husband and I did not lose hours at our jobs solving this problem ourselves. We will definitely call on A to Z again.

This is the third time that we have contracted work with A to Z Tile & Stone. We contacted the owner, Val, in early April this year to evaluate our job locations and provide an estimate. He was able to come to our house within a couple of days, and provided an estimate that same day. He told us exactly what would need to be done to prepare the sunroom floor for tiling. It was a lot less work than I had planned on doing to get the floor ready - he saved us a lot of time and expense by clearly explaining what was necessary for the tile to be installed. The timing for our sunroom project was unpredictable because there was a substantial amount of renovation needed for the space. Val said that it was no problem for him, he would honor the estimate whenever we were able to come to the point where the space would be ready for tiling. In June we were able to determine that we would be ready after mid July. Val set a date for July 29th at 9:00 am and his crew showed up right on time and ready to go. The projects were scheduled to take three days and lasted two and a half. His crew was very professional. They kept their work spaces clean and were very careful of our property. Their work was excellent! They were able to complete the backsplash job without removing the faucets or the electrical. And the 'random pattern' floor tile on the sunroom project turned out very nice - a much more time consuming and artistic process than we had imagined. We are extremely pleased with the outcome on both of these projects and will call on A to Z Tile & Stone again when we have another tiling project!
Description of Work: We had two jobs performed: Add a glass tile backsplash behind the sink in our main bath. Tile the sunroom floor with natural travertine.

iOur home Installers were very friendly. He explained every thing he was going to do and why. He seemed to be very knowledgeable in the tiling process and the materials he was working with. He was very understanding about our barking dogs and curious cat. I felt completely comfortable with him in our home. When we have future work done I'd definitively request him if I knew his name. A to Z was great they gave us an estimate over the phone and that was exactly what we charged.

First off, I spent $2700.00 of this project for stonework which was done and completed in May. This phase went smoothly, two guys showed up and completed in one very long day. They were respectful of my home, very nice and the quality of work I would rate an "A". However, what I found out from them is that they are sub contractors of this company and they do all their stonework, so if your looking for just that I would recommend.. The second phase of the project was the bathroom, fireplace hearth and front steps of porch. When they showed up I took them upstairs to explain the scope of the project since they were not the ones who came and bid out the project. I had an existing counter top/vanity (that was missing the sink) and I explained to them that if they needed to pop off the counter top of the vanity they could because I was replacing this and it might get in the way with the tile behind tub (it's a very small bathroom). When I came home at lunch to check to see how the project was going I noticed that my whole vanity was sitting broken into several pieces on my front walk. I said, "You didn't pull my vanity out the bathroom did you"? To which he replied yes, I said counter top...not vanity. I actually had all the new doors for the existing vanity sitting 2 feet from them freshly painted. You would have had to have been blind not to have seen them. So now I have $980.00 worth of new vanity doors with a vanity in pieces. Then, they suggested that I pay for half of a new vanity to compensate for their mistake????? Obviously I said no, so they pieced my vanity back together and I had to pay my painter to re-caulk, sand and paint to look presentable. This was such a hassle, I then had to argue with Val the owner over the phone about this mistake. He said, " No both my guys said you told them to take out the vanity". Right like they are going to admit that they screwed up? I asked him, "Do you really think that when I have close to $1000.00 in new doors sitting there that I would tell them that"? He never really answered the logical question. The bathroom tile was done poorly in certain areas, and they left a spot which was narrow between the tub and the vanity and explained they could not get it in there so they just didn't tile it. I said well when you ripped out my vanity you could have done it at that time? They missed several areas that Val had to come back and fix, they left my property filthy and when I complained Val said he they do clean up on the last day. I said so you leave peoples homes like this? He said he could have his brother drive all the way back if I was unhappy (not in a nice way but making it seem like I was unreasonable). It wasn't until I sent him pictures of my floors and walls before he began apologizing and took money off my bill to compensate for the trouble. The fireplace hearth was done nicely and our front steps too. However, they charged additional money for the front steps which I kind of feel made up for the mistakes they had to eat in the bathroom but oh well, just glad to be done with that nightmare. Would not use them again.
Description of Work: The provider did a whole stone facade in our living room. Tile at base of fireplace. Total tile of wall and tub surround in bathroom and total re-do of stone tiled front porch. So basically 4 different projects.

Response from A to Z Bathroom Remodeling Experts
Well I am not surprised that after all the extra miles we went for this customer we still see her complaining. Just tells us that this customer can not be satisfied no matter what we do. Id like to let you know that the guys that did Beccas Fireplace wall with stone arent just subcontractors but are friends of mine that have also did my entire front face of the house which is over 1200 sq ft of stone work and I let them do my projects like these because I know they are quality, honest and hard working guys that care about the quality of works thats being done just like the rest of us at A to Z Tile. When my brother John and Serge showed up to do the rest of the projects in the house [member name removed] has asked them to remove this vanity (while meaning vanity top) because her husband was going to do that and he got called out on an emergency and couldnt do it before they showed up. John and Serge do over 40 small bathroom remodels every year and know the difference between vanity and vanity top or countertop. [member name removed] had doors from the vanity stacked against the wall which just looked like her husband was in the process of removing the vanity and got called out. Both John and Serge said they herd her say vanity which [member name removed] denies. When later I contacted [member name removed] about this Issue and she started explaining her self that she never said that and all I said that both John and Serge said that you did say vanity and right after I told her that I dont want to argue or try to figure out who is right or wrong here and that we will take care of this since we are doing this project for you. ([member name removed] states that I argued with her which is FALSE info) because I dont ever argue with customers. The vanity was actually removed in 1 piece but the other cabinets that were attached to the vanity were disassembled during removal. So I called [member name removed] next morning and told her that we can put everything back exactly the way it was and she said that she would appreciate that. I told her that because her cabinets were just painted white that we can put everything back the way it was and repair and repaint the vanity. Vanity looked better after we put it back then it did before since we repaired everything and painted it twice. [member name removed] said that she would really appreciate if we can do that and that either way she had a painter scheduled to repaint that vanity to match her doors. ([member name removed] now states that she had to pay a painter extra to repaint it which looks like FALSE info since she told me she was going to have him do that before we even started) ([member name removed] also states that Val had to come and finish up somethings because John and Serge missed a few things and thats also FALSE info) when I talked to[member name removed] I have told her that we still have 1 more day before we finish up the project and that last day we touch up anything that was missed while grouting etc... we do final clean up and seal all the tile and grout and thats all done the last day. Its almost as if she was blaming for not finishing up the project half way through the project. I was there last day to install caulking in corners, sealer, clean up etc... not because John and Serge missed something but because we had to have the grout cure before we do that. After we have installed the vanity back in the way it was and before we started tiling the floor we realized that when the house was built they installed the vanity and tub about 3/4 inch away from each other which makes it impossible to tile that area since I cant even put my hand in there. So we went ahead and tiled the entire floor and left that 3/4 inch space between vanity and tub so I can talk to [member name removed] about it and see what she would like to do about that, on the last day I showed that space to[member name removed] and asked her if she would rather have that area tiled or maybe a piece of wood trim installed there to match her vanity and make it look like the vanity was against the tub instead of 3/4. As soon as she saw that she freaked out and started blaming us for it once again, swore, and started telling us how unproffesional we are even though that space was original to the house. I just listened to all her complaining and told her I will have to pull the vanity out and install a piece of tile there and thats what I did even though someone else would have charged her extra for doing that since thats how it was before we got there. ([member name removed] states that her property was left Filthy oh wow thats also FALSE info) before we were completed with the project and still have 1 last day before completion[member name removed] has sent me pictures showing a dusty storm door handle, dusty storm door glass and 7-10 dried up water drops on the floor due to us working right by the door. [member name removed] freaked out telling me how she cant live with that for a day etc... I tried to tell her that first of all we arent done with the project, second of all we havent done our final clean up after project is completed etc... she didnt seem to be listening to me at all and just kept on telling me that we werent suppose to leave her storm door glass dusty even though her entire bedroom in the house was covered with dust from homeowners doing all the demo work in the bathroom themselves. When I realized that its not going anywhere I offered to have John come back (which is an hr drive) and take a dry rag and wipe down the door and 7-10 dirty drops of dried water spots) then [member name removed] said dont worry about it and ill take care of it myself. All I did was apologized for leaving some dust smears on the door even though we werent done with the project and told her that Ill give her a discount on the project since she will wipe that door down herself. [member name removed] seemed to have calmed down after I told her that. ([member name removed] also states that we made up the issue on her front step and thats also FALSE Info) When we took of all the old tile that was on her front outside step we realized that the reason why it was coming loose was because it wasnt a concrete slab there but a wood structure and they way it was done was incorrectly and thats the reason why everything was failing. When we took of some tiles and realized that, we didnt proceed with that untill[member name removed] had a chance to look at it and see for herself that what we were telling her was the truth. [member name removed] had a chance to do that and now she states that we made that up? Oh wow how much more FALSE info? After[member name removed] seen it and I talked to her and explained how it needs to be done she agreed to it and gave me an OK to proceed. I should have walked away from this job but didnt because we thought we can still go all these extra miles and take the blame for everything and keep the homeowner happy. But I guess thats just impossible in this case. With all the False info that [member name removed] gave on this report I now have no doubt that [member name removed] did tell John and Serge to take out the vanity while meaning vanity top or countertop and then denied saying it. [member name removed] went with mosaic tile everywhere which made the job much harder and usually theres an up charge for that, We had to do a partial removal of a tub wall which [member name removed] was suppose to do before we started and a few other extra things that we have done without any extra charges to the homeowner. We have done everything possible to keep [member name removed] satisfied and even on the final invoice I gave [member name removed] a $100 discount for pretty much just wiping down the storm door and she took the discount. Even on the last day when I asked [member name removed] where she had purchased the tile from she had told me Minnetonka Tile shop and later I find out it was the Plymouth location, just tells me that she most likely said one thing meaning another. Well I guess theres a reason why 99% of all of our customers are happy customers. We are very glad to be done with that project and would never do any business again with[member name removed]. God Bless!
