Custom Remodelers Inc blamed every mistake on the LINDSAY factory and workers. If they are correct, then you do not want to purchase any LINDSAY products and to me that means that their product is the problem. I was a project manager before I had to go on disability so I have everything documented and pictures taken so this could be interesting. Below is an email from a tech from LINDSAY after their last visit. From: Stephen Huberty [] Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 7:46 AM To: Robert Frederickson Subject: Window Pictures We had a pretty strong wind yesterday from the south ? south/east. I checked the windows and the wind does not seal the inside seal tight. From: Robert Frederickson [] Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 7:55 AM To: Stephen Huberty Subject: Re: Window Pictures Did you feel air on your windows ------- I would not even respond to his email. How stupid does he think I am. Here is the letter from John Roise the owner and President of LINDSAY windows and doors from May 24, 2010 after I sent a final letter stating I was done and they had two weeks to come up with a plan to fix my windows. Our service rep and our salesman have been to this home to adjust and inspect these windows several times. At the completion of the last service call in April, our conclusion is that these windows are installed properly, operate properly and are fully in compliance with all our window specifications. Mr. Huberty has windows that operate and function in accordance with all our standards. The seals are performing as designed, meet manufacturers window specifications and are within manufacturing tolerances. Some parts of the weatherstrip are not designed to be visible when the window is closed, but this does not impair their function. Thank you for inquiring, but in our opinion we have done everything we can to satisfy Mr. Huberty. Please contact me if there are further questions or you need additional information. ~inCerelY, ~ ~se Owner/PreSIdent Mr. John Roise does not specify anything about the seals being open or that the wind should seal the inside seals but he does say that my windows are up to their specs so unless you want a substandard window, buy elsewhere. I will be having independent contractors inspecting them. I still can slide paper between the inside seal and frame on most of my windows. The two basement windows are the worst.
Description of Work: LINDSAY windows are the manufacturer that provided the product to Custom Remodeler Inc. to install. When the Custom Remodeler sales representative showed up, one of the key selling points was the three seal weather stripping window that LINDSAY provided. It had the Outer, Middle and Inside seal that would insure a secure seal at all times. The screens fit well in the windows also. It would take about a week to a week and a half to install all the windows with about eight weeks to order them. So we bought them for $20,000.00 on 4/13/2009 with $5,000.00 down. I won't go into detail about how bad the Custom Remodelers Inc. experience is but the bottom line is that I have a complete set of windows that the LINDSAY tech states have seals that are like refrigerator seals, but all winter I had three windows that had spaces that you could drop a silver dollar between the Sash and the window frame. I have casement windows. I have fifteen windows where you can slide a piece of paper between the seal and the frame in different spots around the windows. Most of these are in the corners and on the top of the windows with a few on the sides. To correct some of the problems, LINDSAY and Custom Remodelers Inc. came out on Monday, April 12 2010 and adjusted the windows to the point that you can not even see the seal any more when the window is closed because they have it adjusted so tight. I still have fifteen windows that have this problem where I can slide a piece of paper in-between the seal and the frame. The LINDSAY tech stated that the outside wind blowing on the window would seal the window. Now does that sound like a refrigerator seal to anyone? The two basement windows you can actually see the crack and I would bet that it would take more than a hurricane wind to seal them. If these are the products that LINDSAY are truly marketing, then I would recommend that people stay away because they are not being truthful in what they are marketing. This Three seal weather window is only two at best and maybe not even that. Burt the LINDSAY sales rep, throughout the summer made comments that he thought that maybe they would have to reinstall the windows because they may have been measured wrong or installed too tight. Now they believe that everything was done correctly even though I had major problems with the installer from CRI. I watched the installer pound the cedar frame around one window to make it fit and they have replaced at least 8 sashes with two for sure being downsized and possibly more, trying to solve my problems. Either way, they are stating a product of three weather seal windows and Custom Remodelers Inc. is selling the window with the guarantee that if either one of the outside seals fail (which you can not see), the inside seal will always be there to seal out the cold. Well not if it fails right from the factory. And LINDSAY is protecting the same people that did nothing but blame them throughout this process(CRI).

Response from Lindsay Window & Door LLC
The Members windows operate and function very well. We have suggested that he have a test done on the windows to prove that these windows seal properly. The Member has refused to have this done. We have complied with the BBB and every other agency the Member has brought this to. We have remade sash, adjusted the sash and made numerous trips to try to resolve his complaints. We have thousand's of these windows installed and this is the first homeowner I am aware of who has not been satisfied although we have tried everything.
