David Anderson Construction

I would NEVER EVER recommend David Anderson Construction.
He claims my written estimate got lost in the mail 3 times. Over the phone, he said it would be about $1500 to sheet rock, paint and trim my kitchen ceiling. My budget was $1000-$2000. I still never got a written estimate, but I went ahead with the job (shame on me). I thought he was doing a great job at the time and really my ceiling now looks beautiful. He had me pick out trim at Menards and pay for it, and have it held in customer service so he could pick it up. Then he brought his own trim to the house and didn't remember having me even go to Menards, so then I had to go through the process of returning all of it. One of the days he called to tell me they were right on track with time and money and that we were looking at a final cost of about $3000. I told him that was over budget and to stop all work on my house. He said he could return some things and give me a 20% discount. I said that was fine and to just finish the ceiling then and we would be done with the remodeling. After this, the guys got paint all over my counters, cupboards, appliances, and even my floor even though they were using tarps. When it came time to pay him for the job he didn't remember offering me a discount so I only got 10% off. He had taken down my kitchen ceiling lights, understandably, but then when it came time to put them back up claimed he was not an electrician and could not legally put them back up. So now I had only wires hanging out of the light holes in my ceiling and no lights. After he had left, we realized that they had not screwed in one of my cupboards. The screws were in the holes, but sticking out about 4 inches, not actually screwed in. One of my counters were pushed out from the wall, and the covering over my stove/oven electrical cord was bowed out. My project was done in March, and this spring when I went out  into my backyard after the snow had all melted, I found one of my extra kitchen chairs hidden in a little nook around the back of my house covered in boot prints of paint. Evidently one of the guys stepped in paint multiple times and used my chair as a stool over and over again. I had thought the chair had been moved down to my basement to be put out of the way. Guess I was wrong. What a terrible experience.
