From initial phone contact with receptionist, to the salesman (Tim) who did the consultation, we were highly impressed. The work crew volunteered to do a weekend job to rush our order, were on time, worked long and hard, and were very professional.

I have had several encounters with them over the last few years. I had water problems in my basement in spite of the sump system circling the entire space. One of the lead people came out and talked about possible solutions, noting that their sump system was not the problem. He was going to send me an estimate. I ended up having to call repeatedly to get the estimate and then it really didn't fit. It included installing their wall system into the wall that is made of stone surrounding the fireplace. This was a ridiculous idea and I went elsewhere for help. As I dealt with another problem, another representative came for annual maintenance and pointed out that the first section of the sump system is obsolete and was ruining the wainscoting above it. I ended up agreeing to have them replace it, totally at my expense in spite of warranty. It required removing everything from the walls which required contracting with someone else to pull off the wainscoting and eventually replace it. Once it was complete, it cost the full charge of Basement Solutions work and the additional cost of the contractor, so it was quite expensive. Oddly, the person who did the actual install left a jog in one corner that would have required building a false cover. The person who had recommended replacing it was able to come over and fix that problem, hopefully without future problems as a result. This spring my sump motor burnt out and the original person who didn't gave me the ridiculous estimate came to fix it. He did fine with that, but the pump cost several hundred dollars more than an apparently better quality pump would have cost at one of the big hardware stores. The warranty on the one installed is quite a bit less time than the ones I looked at in the hardware stores. The main reason I continue to use their services is that I need to use them to maintain the warranty. However, I am still unclear about what that warranty actually covers since it didn't provide any help with replacing the obsolete section or the pump. Apparently it covers it if I can verify that the system has failed in a pretty massive way due to the sump system rather than old age or something else. I have yet to figure out what this might be. Some of the service has been good and some bad, so I probably rated them higher than is earned due to giving credit to the good service.
Description of Work: Replaced pump and checked system. Last year they replaced a portion of the sump system.

Our salesperson was very professional and punctual, and when our installation date came, everything went very smoothly. They were very courteous in how they setup their job site and how they worked, even laid paper down on the driveway. I was very satisfied with the install. The install saved our basement and it has been dry since then. Fast forward 1.5 years, the ground is frozen and it starts to rain. With the ground unable to absorb the water, it started to pool near one corner of my house and washed some sand down into the cinder block foundation, into the system and clogged it up causing water and sand to come up through the system into my laundry room. I called Complete Basement Systems and even though it was their day off, Nate and Nick made the 2 hour drive through terrible weather to help me with my issue THE SAME DAY!! They were very professional and helpful and I couldn't have asked for better service. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with the level of service provided and would recommend them to anyone with basement/water issues. Thanks Complete Basement Systems.

The sales person did a great job of recommending products and had previous knowledge of working in a span crete space. It took the better part of a week to get the estimate (I called and emailed to follow up - and finally received it). When I received the estimate the sales person informed me that we needed to have the foam board floor insulation installed before they would be able to install the vapor barrier. As per his request this work was completed. The date and time of install was on time and performed as described. The crew installed the PVC discharge pipe from the sump pump in a way that limited use of the area so I asked them to pipe it to the wall and out, which they did so gladly. I was very happy about there willingness. At the time of the install of the in-floor heat the Energy company (Xcel) informed me the vapor barrier needed to be installed underneath the foam board floor insulation. This was a code issue and they needed it reversed before they could install the in-floor heat. When I notified the sales person at Complete Basement Systems he told me "we have been doing it this way in Rochester, how are we supposed to know the building code in your area"...... To make matters worse, the company did not offer to fix or reverse the problem and only offered a small piece of poly - for me to cut up, remove, and reinstall the vapor barrier and foam insulation. I was very disappointed in the lack of common building code exhibited by Complete Basement Systems as well as the lack of customer service. To date - they have yet to contact me back or offer resolution. I have used this company on 3 occasions now totaling well over $20k worth of work - and I will never use them again.

Response from Complete Basement Systems
Oct 16th, 2012, Nate ran an appointment to give the member a bid for waterproofing a room underneath his garage. After the appointment, the member had many questions about the project, one being; how we install the wall braces before pouring the concrete floor. Before finishing the proposal, Nate got the member information that he needed & answered all of his questions he had. Proposal was emailed on 10/21/12. The member called several times with more questions & to revise the proposal. He wanted several items removed from the proposal so a 2nd proposal was written up with those changes. The new proposal was emailed on 10/26/12, which the member approved & signed on 10/29/12. Complete Basement Systems worked with the member to get an earlier install date of 11/5/12. Job was installed on this date with the discharge line getting changed. The member wanted the discharge line to be plumbed out of the side of the sump basket instead of out from the top of the sump lid, which we did accommodate his request. On 11/14/12 the member called us, informing us that the vapor barrier we installed, needed to be under the foam insulation, noting that it needed to be done by 11/15/12 (the next day). We did offer to fix this but we needed more than a day’s notice. We also offered to give the member the plastic to fix this, which is what he chose to do. In response to Nate’s comment about the building codes: Complete Basement Systems waterproofs new home construction by installing the vapor barrier on top of the foam insulation which has always been approved by the building inspector. We did the member’s project the same way. Now the member is saying that Xcel Energy, not the building inspector, wanted the vapor barrier reversed before they could install the in-floor heat. So as you can see, we were under the impression the problem had been resolved when the member picked up the plastic to complete the project to his satisfaction. We didn’t realize there was a resolution to resolve upon the final conversation.

This company installed our drain tile and sump pump system 4-1/2 years ago and we have slept much better since then, with no problems until this month, when we had water on the rec room floor after a very hard rain. I called the company the next day, and Nate came right away. After carefully inspecting inside and out, he explained that the water was not a failure of the system but was the result of small holes around the old window that had allowed water to flow into and down the walls and out onto the floor. He also noticed that the window is directly below a juncture in the roof line where heavy rain could pour over the gutter guard in a concentrated stream onto the window well. The accuracy of his diagnosis was proven beyond a doubt a couple of days later, when we had another heavy rain (unfortunately, I had forgotten to follow his advice to lean a sheet of plywood against the house to direct water away from the window well). We had already scheduled the company to install two "SunHouse" window enclosures to replace the old window wells, and Nate recommended that we add "WellDuct" systems at the same time, to channel into the existing drain tile system any water that might get into the SunHouses. Those were installed yesterday, along with "ThermalDry" flooring in the laundry room. The SunHouses make the rec room much brighter and look much better than the old window wells. The flooring also looks great. Nate and Ben worked a long day to complete the work (they wrapped up around 8 pm on a Friday evening). Installing the SunHouses required a lot of digging on a hot day, including removal of two buckets of large rocks and two old concrete slabs. They cleaned up everything before they left. I have been very impressed with Complete Basement Systems and especially Nate. His knowledge and experience are invaluable in diagnosing basement problems and recommending solutions, and he explains everything with patience and good humor.
Description of Work: They removed two basement window wells and installed SunHouse window enclosures and added WellDuct systems that hook into the existing drain tile system to provide protection against leakage. They also installed ThermalDry tiles in the laundry room over the existing floor.

December 2010 I contacted Complete Basement Systems for an estimate to encapsulate my two crawl spaces. Chad and I made an appointment for December 21 @ 9:00 AM. He was on time and I showed him the two areas I wanted fixed. He took his time to explain their products and methods of installation. He then offered some ideas that would better the whole project. He prepared the estimate on the spot with his computer and printer on company forms that included all information on prices, warranties, descriptions of work to be done, Notice of Right to Cancel and a diagram of the area of the project. I thought that was very professional because when he left I had all the information in front of me and I didn't have to wait for the mail to come for the estimate. I told him this was a lot to think about but I would let him know one way or another what my decision was. He did come back three more times because of more questions and concerns I had and finalely on April 5, I signed a contract to have the work done. All through this process Chad did not put any pressure on me and he took the time to answer all my questions. On May 18 The foreman Jason and his crew of 3 arrived to to complete the project. They arrived a little late due to a car accident along their way. Jason and I went over the project and I told him I would like to observe certain steps of the project. Him and his crew put down plastic runners on the finished areas of the house they would need to use to access the basement. I pretty much stayed out of the way until Jason let me know they were doing the work that I wanted to observe. What I saw was very impressive and I am glad I chose to do it that way. They finished the project in one day which was nice for both of us. They did a real good job of cleaning up when they were finished. The only thing I would suggest the company do in the future would be to stock their work trucks with bags of Floor Sweep for clean-up. This is not a complaint but a constructive suggestion. From my first contact with Complete Basement Systems, through my meetings with Chad, ending with the completion of the project with Jason and crew I can say I am completely satisfied the work that took place. I would recommend them in the future.
Description of Work: Encapsulated two dirt crawl spaces with 875 sq ft of Clean Space Crawl Space liner. Added 123 sq ft of 2 inch rigid insulation in small crawl space. Removed all batt insulation in both crawl spaces. Sprayed foamed all joist pockets in both crawl spaces, 121 sq ft.
