Dick Raiche is now operating under Raiche Engineering, 234 Barry Avenue South, Wayzata, MN, and he was hired to fix a water intrusion in my basement. He "guaranteed" his work. When backfilling and replacing the landscaping, he left it sloping toward the foundation, including depressions where water could pool close to the foundation. I continued to get water in that area, and he refused to fix the landscaping he messed up. During my 10+ attempts to contact him to remedy the problem and adhere to his written "guarantee," he refused to accept responsibility, made personal attacks, slurred his words, and swore.

Called Dick because he had installed sump pumps at our house for the previous owners. Called to have Dick come out and look at an issue we were having with water in our basement. Spoke with Dick on Sunday evening June 1st. He said that he could come out that evening. Great. Hours passed and did not hear from him. We called to get an updated and he informed us that he was too busy and not able to make it out. Fine. Our basement wasn't flooded at that time, just some wet carpet. I told him it wasnt an emergency so we could reschedule. Did not hear back from him. Called on 6/3 Tues evening to reschedule and Dick told me that he was able to come out until Sat and that he would not be able to complete any work until July. We I told him that I was going to have to call someone else to see if I could get anyone out early. He told me that he wasnt going to get into a bidding war and then hung up on me.

I called Dick after my wife and I had spent two sleepless nights bailing water off our basement floor between our attached garage and the house.. He sounded very knowledgeable and said he knew exactly what the problem was and described what his crew had to do to fix it. He also provided an estimate of the cost to repair and guarantee the work. Oh, did I mention that I spoke with him on Sunday afternoon. He arrived Monday morning enroute to another job and provided a temporary solution and a loaner sump pump which he jackhammered in to place and told me he would be back Tuesday morning with his crew. Tuesday morning Dick and his two helpers arrived and completed the job in about four hours, cleaned up and headed out to the next job. Time will tell if the job holds but I can't say enough about Dick's responsiveness and knowledge about my problem. I would recommend he and his crew to anyone with a similiar problem.

Absolutely terrible. Not even two years later the egress window well they replaced started to bow in and had to be replaced. Owner would not return calls. Found out after the fact owner wasn't licensed or qualified to replace egress window wells. Wish I had Angie's List back then! Avoid at all costs.

Mr. Raiche showed up on time with his crew, clean up was great. He asked for early payment and I provided partial payment. He returned later for balance noting he'd be back to install electrical box for sump pump which is currently connected by an extension cord. It is now October, I have emailed and called, no response since April. Twice I got him on his cell phone. Once he was about to get on a plane and couldn't talk. The second time he was about to lose cell phone connection and would call be back which didn't happen. I called two weeks ago and his cell voice mail box was full. I called his business line and that voice mail box was full. I followed up with an email to which he has not responded. He did not provide the written lifetime warranty that was stated in his bid. I have asked for this as well as the install of the electrical box. I have given up on receiving either.

After the work was done, he will never call me back! He came out once to check a problem that we had a few years later after the installtion, but the only reason I feel like he came out was because he couldn't recall that he had already done work for us and thought we were just new customers. He never came out to fix it, so I had another company fix it.

We hired Quality Basement Waterproofing to waterproof our basement, which we plan on finishing in the next couple of years. At that time, Quality Basement Waterproofing had only one poor-rated review on Angie's List. Unfortunately, we decided to proceed with Quality Basement Waterproofing in spite of this review. The initial meeting went well and the installation date was scheduled 4 weeks in advance. A week later Dick Raich called us and asked if we could accomodate him and reschedule our installation date for next week. I told him it would be fine as long as he got paid via an electronic check rather a paper check. Dick told us that electronic check would work just for him. Overall, the installation went well with one exception: they broke a piece of our window frame. As someone else reported on Angie's list, they never fixed it even after repeated messages from us. What happened next is absolute disaster. Dick lost our electronic check (the electronic check was sent by our bank to his business address) and blamed us, our bank, and US Postal Office for his problems being unable to maintain order in his accounting. Extremely rude and unprofessional... He was absolutely outraged when we suggested him to go through his mail ;-). Of course, we confirmed the date when the check was mailed by our bank and asked Dick if he wants to cancel the electronic check and cover a bank fee associated with that so that we could give him a paper check instead. He declined. Instead he was calling us non-stop asking where his electronic payment was. We did not want to keep this going, canceled our electronic check to him, paid the fee associated with the cancellation, and paid Quality Basement Waterproofing with a paper check. Because of all of this, we put the company F. But there are a couple of additional warnings I would like to give you: 1. Doing this project could increase your radon levels. Dick has not mentioned that but you should know about this. Take measurements before and after the job. 2. Partly because of radon issues in Minnesota, partly to improve the smell in the basement, Dick suggested caulking the wall wrap and installing a fan in the basement that will suck the air out of the sump pup basket and drain tile and push it to the side of the house. After researching the subject and talking to radon mitigation companies, I realized that this is {not} a good idea. Installing such a fan in livable area is extremely dangerous. If the fan ever leaks, it could push radon right into the house. Most of the time, the fan is installed in the attic or in the garage. Second, radon should be pushed up father from windows rather to the side of the house in the basement where it could enter back into the house through an open window.
Description of Work: Replaced our drain tile and sump pump. Made more holes in the concrete block next to foundation. Installed Delta-MS foundation wrap to waterproof walls.

It's curious to me how people react when they were unable to pay when the project was completed. I have never gotten a phone call or a letter from these customers regarding any problems or dissatisfaction of the work, and we have a written lifetime warranty. Payment was finally made in full.

The company installed all drain tiling, radon fans, and placed the hole in the wall for the egress window. Initially, we waited over two months for the company to return to actually install the window. In the meantime, our basement flooded through the egress window hole because the buried drain tile in the egress window well was left capped and therefore was unable to drain. Numerous phone calls and emails went unreturned. Mr. Raiche eventually contacted us and insisted that we pay him in advance for all remaining work that he had not yet performed (i.e., the installation of the window, some remaining drain tile work, and installation of the battery back-up for the pump) before he was willing to return. We protested that his demand was in violation of his own contract which clearly stated that payment was due upon completion of work. He continued to maintain that he would not return to complete the work until we paid him in advance. We looked into having another contractor complete the work, but none could come quickly and meanwhile we continued to have a large opening in our basement wall. We decided to pay Mr. Raiche in advance and he scheduled to return approximately three weeks later. He did not show on the day he scheduled to return, but did the following business day. This was approximately three months after he had last been to our house. Nonetheless, he did not come with the window for which he had previously insisted we pay him in advance to order and install. He completed the remaining drain tile and installed the battery back up system. He also promised to return a thousand dollars that we had paid him for the window and installation time. However, he never did return the money. Numerous attempts to contact him have gone unreturned.
Description of Work: The company contracted to perform drain tiling through out the basement, install an egress window, and install radon fans.

Everything that we proposed was completed timely. She was acting as the general contractor on this huge project and I believe she was over her head. Coordinating the project was difficult for her and she was over budget. Other contractors had done some of the work which she is unhappy with. I have never received a letter from them regarding any problems with our work. Our work has a lifetime warranty. The work was very difficult, but it was done professionally, clean, and promptly. When extra work was required by our company because the other contractors couldn't complete their project, she was reluctant to pay us for the additional work. Again, she was overwhelmed. It appears that the only complaints I get are from customers who have difficulty paying. Our project is complete and we have been paid in full. We will stand by any warranty issues that may arise. To date there have been none.

It went very well. They were able to come a day earlier than originally expected. They got all the work done in one day. You could not even tell they had been there they cleaned up so well.
Description of Work: They had to break up the basement floor below the egress window and then across the floor about 25 feet into the laundry room. They dug a hole for the well and pump. They ran the piping from the room into the laundry room, to the pump. They then had to run a pipe back across to the exterior was to pump the water outside. They installed the pump and cleaned up after themselves. I have also used this company again for the replacement of a pump at another property and that went very well also.

Dick's son came out to do the work. He was very friendly and jack hammered around the fireplace so that he could run a couple of pipes into the existing drain tile. He then put an aluminum channel in front of the fireplace to cause any seepage to go back into the pipes and into the drain tile. He also ran a discharge pipe from our sump pump to the outside of the house. He was very efficient and clean. I would use them again.
Description of Work: We had this company come out and give us an estimate to resolve water seepage in our basement around a fireplace. Apparetly, it is common not to have a drain tile installed in the fireplace foundation. The owner, Dick Raich came out to analyze the problem and gave us three possible solutions. He recommended the least costly and guaranteed the work.

Description of Work: Dick and his guys cleared out the basement in our 1914 home and installed a drain tile system. They also filled in some areas where there was no concrete in the basement and installed celotex along all of the walls and taped all the joints. DICK'S TEAM WAS VERY POLITE, COURTEOUS, AND ON TIME. THEY MOVED ALL OF THE BASEMENT STUFF INTO THE CENTER OF THE ROOM AND COVERED IT WITH PLASTIC. FOR AN INCREDIBLE MESSY TYPE OF JOB I WAS QUITE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED HOW WELL THEY WERE ABLE TO CONTROL DUST AND DIRT. THEY COVERED THE STEPS UP FROM THE BASEMENT AS WELL. THEY DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED MY WASHER, DRYER, AND SINK. THEY WERE JUST A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE THREE OTHER QUOTES I RECEIVED, BUT FELT IT WAS WELL WORTH THE HELP IN MOVING THE BASEMENT MATERIALS AND THE EASE DICK HAD IN WORKING AROUND MY BOILER PIPES.
