MD Concrete handled all aspects of my concrete project with a high level of professionalism. Matt worked with me personally throughout the proposal and design process. At first, I thought it was great and the driveway looked excellent. Then, the first heavy rain that fell after the job was completed showed me that the driveway was not sloped correctly and the rain water flowed into my garage. From there it went to the side garage wall and down into my basement and flooded my basement. The root cause of the problem was that the old asphalt was two inches thick and the new concreted was 4 inches thick. Instead of taking out the two inches of asphalt and then taking out an additional two inches of gravel to make room for the 4 inches of concrete all the way from the road to the garage, they shaved down at the top of the driveway by the garage and at the road so that the mating joints were 4 inches thick for the pour. That, however left almost no slope by the garage and extra slope down by the roadway. I mentioned this to the contractor and I saw them back at my place later in the day with a bobcat so I figured they got the slope set right. Unfortunately, when the pour was completed I found out when it rained that they did not take out the underlaying gravel throughout the whole span of the driveway and there wasn't enough slope up at the garage to shed water away from the garage. After much back and forth, they came out and replaced a section. This helped a little bit because at least it no longer slopes towards the garage so a light rain will not flow into the garage. However, it's almost still perfectly flat so anytime there's a heavy rain, water still runs into my garage. They proposed raising the garage floor as well, but they refused to both raise the garage floor and re-pour a section outside the garage. They would only do one of the two remedies and they wanted me to pick which of the two to do. I wanted them to do both adjustments but they refused. So, I picked the external re-pour which you can see in the pictures. Also looking in the picture, you can see that the water gets stuck at the bottom of my garage door and edge of the driveway pour that they did because there's no slope and the driveway concrete is higher than the garage concrete and it fills up with water. Because of this standing water there, you can see that it is rotting the bottom of my garage door. They took a short cut by not taking a full two inches of fill out of the entire length of my driveway so there is proper sloping to shed water. Unfortunately, they would only do so much to fix it and this is what I'm left with.

Working with MD Concrete was great. They were very punctual to the estimate and we were able to walk the property and get a quote very fast. Scheduling with them was also a breeze. They worked to get our project done early in the season which we appreciated. The day of, the crew came out and took a couple of hours to cut out the old concrete. Then they came and poured the next nice day. Everyone was very friendly and personal. Afterwards, they had a crew stay behind and do any last minute touch up work. They even were very gracious to me after I stepped into the wet concrete apron (whoops). Don't use a cell phone while walking around wet cement folks... All in all, I would use them again if I had a future concrete need. Super easy to work with, very reasonably priced, and very courteous and professional. We love our new patio and sidewalk apron.

MD Concrete and I entered into a dispute over some drastic discoloration in the driveway. Through Angie's list and the work of our mediator, an agreement was reached and MD Concrete came out almost a year after the initial job and power washed and resealed the driveway with a tinted sealer to darken the whole thing up and make it appear uniform. Now, it looks all the same color and I'm very pleased with the results.

After getting a recommendation from my in-laws who had hired MD Concrete for their stamped concrete, we hired them to lay a 12 foot stamped concrete circle in our backyard. They were responsive to my first phone call. In fact, I recall that I called after 5:00 p.m. and received a call back later that evening. We needed to make a trip to Hastings to look at the color options which wasn't the most convenient, but I understand that it would be difficult to have customers choose from pictures. MD Concrete was very willing to work with our schedule. Because our house was new and we didn't have sod, everything was on a tight time frame around that. MD Concrete worked with us and even managed to squeeze in our neighbor's patio the same day (our neighbors would have had to wait a month if MD Concrete hadn't found a way to make it work). On the day of the work, the crew arrived on time, looking professional (both in their attire and their vehicles). They worked swiftly. I noticed that the owner was present also which I respected because it tells me that the owners stay engaged in their business. I happened to be home sick that day so I wasn't thrilled when the crew decided to turn on their radio loudly. I went outside and asked them to turn it down and they did so right away. They finished in the time they had estimated and Mike came back later to put the sealant on. We have not been able to have a fire yet because we have struggled to keep water out of the pit. Our yard sits on clay so it doesn't drain well. I am hoping we can figure something out this year so we can fully enjoy our concrete circle. We were pleased with the work MD Concrete did and would hire them again. The only thing I would recommend is not to put the stampers on the grass (this happened at our neighbor's house). Doing so damaged their grass. It came back, but it was yellow for a while.

After leaving a message on Matt's voice mail this morning, he promptly returned my call. I described our situation to him and he was very knowledgable about advising what could be done to try to alleviate our concrete issue. Our driveway was not poured by MD Concrete. However, Matt listened to my concerns and did not hesitate to try to help me and lead me in the right direction. I appreciated his kindness, honesty, communication style, and professionalism. I know that our landscape designer from Pahl's Market and a close friend of ours have been very pleased with MD Concrete's work over the years. I would definitely call Matt again if I had the opportunity to have a new patio or driveway done.

Contacted Matt through Angie's List. Matt called me back that day and said he could stop by within a day or so for an onsight estimate of a concrete patio to be installed in back of my home. I had sent him pictures of the space and estimated the size I wanted. I had also interviewed two other companies for the same job. I really liked the pictures on the website and the comments on Angie's List. Matt's price quote was a lot less than the others and his professionalism was great. It is too late in the season now, but I am on the schedule for spring installation.

The finished product looks much better than the old one which was removed. The crew was seen drinking beer after the framing was done, and my wife commented on that. I didn't see that, and if they were substantially done I didn't see any harm in that, but it did make an impression on her. When completed there were areas around the concrete that needed landfill, but I will take care of that myself. I did have intermittent contact with the Mike Dodson, but it was difficult to contact him in a timely manner often, but when contact was made any questions or issues were resolved. I received several bids on the project, and MD Concrete was not the least expensive, but I'd seen his completed projects in other areas of the neighborhood, talked with the owners and none of the owners' names were given to me by MD Concrete. I was impressed with the final product he completed on several other projects, and that was the deciding factor in selecting this contractor. HIs price was within my expected budget, and I very much liked his finished projects in the neighborhood, and time will tell if the finished product holds up, but I expect it will. I REALLY liked working with Mike Dodson, and REALLY like the finished product and the price was well within my budget range. The and quot;Band quot; rating on professionalism, price and responsiveness would really be a and quot;A-and quot; on my scale, but that's not an option. There are NO major issues with this contractor. Overall, I'm VERY pleased with Mike Dodson, MD Concrete, the price and the finished product. I would recommend him to others as well as use him again in the future.

Great initially when work was done in August, then realized there was a dip in the garage that puddled up in the winter. The size was about 9 sq ft. They fixed it after a year or two. Loved the design, the recommendations, friendly, hard-working group. Would recommend them.

It went very well. The owner, when he came out for the estimate was very thorough and took a lot time with me, gave me different options, and explained a lot of things. They were very clean with the job, they didn't tear up my yard. It was competitive with the other companies that I had contact with and they were in the same ballpark.
