Lowell Russell Concrete

The patio looks very nice, it look really nice when they got done, there was a little I don't know miscommunication or misunderstanding, but it's actually lower than I thought it was gonna be I was hoping it would be little bit out of the ground because of water actually pool on top of it, it kind of drained onto the edge of the patio than rather into the yard so then we had some discussions about that after the fact but at that point it was too late. Maybe a little more detail on what to expect coming out of the job, We got three steps coming of our hours down to the patio and we were kind of hoping or maybe more than a raised patio up above the ground level not right at the ground level and I guess we never discuss that so there was a assumption made and it wasn't really clear what, again on both sides.

The work was done as planned and it looks nice. Challenges with roots and sprinkler system, but his crew addressed all.

The owner, Lowell, met with us at our house and reviewed the project. There were a couple of concerns initially, because he seemed to want us to tell him the square footage of the area where we wanted concrete. It was our opinion that he should measure the area we explained to him and tell us the square footage. Also, he brought up several "red flags" about the drainage for the area and clearance from the bottom of our siding, that other contractors (4 in total) did not seem to think were major problems. In addition, Lowell also seemed rather concerned about having to take away wood material when he did the demolition - he wanted to charge an additional cost for this removal. Other companies didn't have any concerns about the wood material removal. Lowell did take quite a lot of time to talk through our project with us, and explain various stamp and color options which we appreciated. He had lots of examples of his work and seemed to want to be sure we understood his background and credentials, which we also appreciated. I believe that Lowell has great experience, and would probably have done a good job. However, we didn't get the professionalism from him that we expected and his bid did come in a little higher than the contractor we chose. Ultimately, the contractor we chose gave us a very fair bid which included the cost of a drainage solution, was very experienced in stamped concrete and professional, and is working with our specific timeline (coordinating with other contractors also working at the house).

It went beautifully! They did a fabulous job. I am so glad that I waited the 3-1/2 months for Lowell and his crew. I am in the construction business, so I know my concrete. The work that Lowell did surpassed my expectations.

The work was done as stated in his bid and did an excellent job. I would recommend his services to others.

The project was complicated, with footings, foundation walls, and brick and a special stone facing, all having to be very precisely installed, and then a stamped and colored concrete sidewalk installed. The work was started in the fall, and then delayed over the winter. The work was finished the following spring, later than we had requested. In the end we are very happy. The workmanship was excellent.

It went very well. I was concerned that I would have water puddles like old drive did. This contractor worked it out where it drains naturally, no problems.

it is late in the year but he was able to fit me into his schedule, the job went smoothly and as planned. He was very helpful in the planning of the location .

The day went well. Cement truck drove up to house and put the chute through a an egress window and wheelbarrowed the cement into the back of the basement through to the main family room. the leveling of the cement and the reconstruction of the two step staircase went really well. The cement dried for a week when the crew came back to cut the design into the cement, there were a few cracks (that was told, due to the cement thickness, and agreed upon prior to starting work) but incorporated the cracks and added to the character of the basement. I was impressed with the speed and workmanship - I would hire again for other cement work.

Lowell came out to give an estimate and patiently answered all my questions. He also noticed one problem along the brickwork that no other estimator had mentioned. Once we had chosen this company, they put us on their schedule as soon as they could; so as to get the concrete poured and cured before cold weather set in. Schedules did have to be changed because of rain, but I was kept informed. When they were doing the work, the crew worked together rapidly and efficiently. Our new driveway and sidewalk look fantastic - makes our house look much newer overall.

The workmanship was excellent and was done quite quickly, even though we had some rain issues that slowed the project a little. Very nice looking driveway and decking. Very pleased. Now have room to park another car to the side of our garage and more space to get out of your car and walk to the front steps without having to walk on the grass.

Lowell had great ideas on how to design/sculpt/layout the patio. He and his team did work. I rated his professionalism poorly only because of the language between he and his son on the job site. When dealing with us, he was always professional.

We were very pleased with the outcome of the work. Lowell and his team showed up when expected and got the work done before the first freeze hit us. I believe we might have been the last job for the year. We were nervous about it being so cold but Lowell assured us if we allowed the concrete to set, we would be fine. He also said he would take care of any issues this spring if we had any. We love the way it turned out and are looking forward to fall when the pit will get used frequently!

They were very good. They were knowledgeable, and stuck to their estimate. They were prompt and finished the job on time. Lowell was here the whole time and we appreciated that. He advised us on caring for the floor and explained it well.

He was very rude to me and kept asking why he would waste their time coming out to my home. He didn't even know where we live. He also asked why they would waste their gas to come. He said this in a very condescending manner.

His men dug, and hauled away all of the old concrete and dirt on Friday, Oct. 1, On Saturday Oct. 11, his crew worked until Noon cleaning up the area and starting to put forms around where concrete would be poured. He did not come on Monday because he thought it was going to rain. On Tuesday Oct. 14, he poured some of the concrete and finished with the forms etc. On Wednesday, Oct 15, he finished pouring all of the balance of the concrete. On Thursday, Oct. 16 one person came over to seal the concrete, "cut" expansion lines in the concrete, washed the area clean and was gone. It was a big job done in a very short time. He had a very good foreman and a hard working crew. Lowell Russell came very frequently to see that everything was in order. Also, when they were pouring the concrete for the driveway, he was working in the middle of the job seeing that everything was being done properly.

I was pleased with Lowell's knowledge and credentials from our first meeting. Driveways done by him I've seen were excellent. I like that he's not afraid to put his company stamp on. It tells me he's proud of his work and ready to take responsibility. I made quite a few bids and he definitely stood out of the crowd. Besides, price was very reasonable - right in the middle. The only problem was that he was booked 2 month in advance. I decided to wait and do not regret about it for a minute. When we met right before the project start he made couple very good suggestions that I accepted plus I made some changes as well. And he was very accommodative and again reasonable price wise. I watched his team working - very good. Excellent job, excellent result so far. I would not hesitate to add to my review if something go wrong in a year or later but my guts tell me that I'd rather write how pleased I'm at that time.

Met with Lowell in early July to discuss our project. He told us it would be two months before he could schedule the project. He arrived in early September, on schedule, and helped us plan our patio, His crew arrived a few days later, and completed the project in three days. Workers were excellent and very professional. Cleaned up when the project was done. Especially pleased with Matt, who did the cutting, staining/sealing. A real artist. Would highly recommend this contractor to anyone who wants a stamped concrete project done right.

Old cement patio was removed & replaced. It was so late in the year when looking for the replacement. Russell responded to my request with an estimate & was able to fit the job in. I was only able to get one other estimate & that company wasn't sure they could do it in the time frame I needed. Also, the other companies were already thru for the year taking jobs for cement. Russell & his crew did a great job & cleanup was very good.

We can't wait for spring to enjoy our new patio. Lowell Russell Concrete put in a colored stamped concrete patio 300 sq feet for our back patio. All of the employees worked hard and fast to get it done in the cold. It looks great.

Drive way looks great, they removed old cement driveway and installed a new concrete drive. They provided styling other than a an ordinary square drive. They damaged a lot more of the yard than I would have anticipated. Additionally they cleaned off their tools in the grass and left the cement on the lawn killing a 5 foot suare area. Although they damaged the sprinkler system, they did repair it. They also cut the invisible fence even though it was marked and discussed but was left for me to repair. Stone work on the front of the house (which was only three years old) was damaged and repaired but not replaced, and it is obvious to the eye that it was not in the same condition that it was in before they started work. On the upside they went the extra step to complete some tuck pointing that was not part of their scope of work. Lowell was very knowledgeable on the criteria required to install a superior product. time will tell if it holds up. Overall, I am happy with the outcome, not quite sure on the value. If I were to take on another project of this type, I would discuss my finished product expectations to make sure that I understood the condition that the yard would be left in.
