we purchased a crown royal wood stove in 2003. in 2009 we discovered the back of the wood stove was leaking at the seam. we contacted the owner of Northland Distributing in may 2009 left messages after messages with this man to contact us, finally in august 2009 we got in touch with him he told us to come in and talk, the next day we did so and he wasn't there. after that we continued several times to make contact never any luck. one time we tried to contact him and just ask the employee on the phone " is he trying to avoid us?" his response was "yes, yes he most likely is.". finally after 5 mo. of no messages returned and no meeting up with him, we did catch up to him. in october 2009 he came to our home to see the wood stove and give us an estimate on the "PRO-RATED" 20 yr warranty issue. ok so he looked at it and said to us "it'll be taken care of tomorrow." we thought great!! the next day we met him at the office and he told us that because it was purchased 6 yrs. ago the warranty is PRO-RATED in other words means because of use it depreciates over time, ok we did understand that. we had two choices 1. give him back the old stove and give him another $3600.00 for a new one. or 2. pay a welder to come out and weld the seal that had come apart for right around $1000.00 out of OUR pocket! OH MY GOD WHAT A DEAL!!! (that's sarcasm). we decided not to take him up on his offer and find a welder, for cheaper, by ourselves, we called other welders and was told we could have it welded at our home for $100.00. now that's a deal, and that's what we did. so all in all don't believe the 20 yr warranty it is not completely false, but it will cost you!! i would never recommend this company or their products to anyone!!! PLEASE, PLEASE LOOK AT OTHER WOODSTOVES BEFORE YOU GO TO NORTHLAND DISTRIBUTING!!!
