In just one hour, Dan taught me more about the inner workings of my new house than I could teach myself in a year. He explained everything in layman's terms and clearly has an eye for detail—spotting places where the previous owner/contractors cut corners or skirted building codes. Even when he had to give me some bad news about areas that needed immediate attention, he made me feel confident that I had the information and understanding to get it sorted out. Strickland Inspections came highly recommended by our Realtor. While we did our walk-through, Dan conducted a big picture inspection ($200). He didn't find any disqualifying flaws with the 30-year-old townhouse, so we made an offer. Our offer was accepted, and we had Dan return for a more detailed inspection ($325). The first inspection took about an hour, the second inspection was a little over two hours. Dan provided us with a detailed 36-page PDF complete with color photos identifying items needing attention and suggested corrective action. This was $525 well spent.

We feel so lucky to have found Dan to inspect the house we wanted to purchase.The house was built in 1900 so it was bound to have issues. He was very thorough and honest in his evaluation, and it was very easy to ask him questions along the way (we had quite a few!). We feel very comfortable that we now understand what needs attention and the general scope of the work involved. Dan was awesome. He really knows his stuff! Definitely recommend!

Dan was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to walk my wife and I through the entire home and educate us on how all systems operated and best practices for upkeep. I am not a handy guy and appreciated Dan's demeanor when educating me about my new home. Dan also took the time to point out many positives of the home and what other's may do to save money. I walked away confident that our inspection was done thoroughly. Dan's written report covered all the bases with pictures and recommendations.

Dan is incredibly thorough, provides a spectacular level of detail and happily takes the time to talk through any and all questions prospective buyers may have. He's approachable and highly knowledgeable. His inspection really gave us the peace of mind that we had all the best possible information regarding out perspective home purchase that anyone could possibly provide. Dan's the best in the business, hands down.

Under some odd and difficult circumstances with the seller, Dan was quite the professional and did a thorough job for us. Great walk through of items to take care of and how to maintain. Would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

Apart from being extremely competent , professional and meticulous in his inspection , Dan does go an extra mile in his documentation accompanying every small details with lots of pictures and finally he gives an excellent walk through to his client often making clear distinction of what all are the 'to be taken care of' items in what urgency of timeline and what are their corresponding consequences if not acted upon. Dan Seeland did a great job. He was very thorough and wrote up a detailed report with photos and bullet points. He was very professional and seemed to care about our concerns as a home buyer. The home inspection was $350 and Radon Test is an extra $150. The Radon test seemed a little pricey, but maybe that's the going rate...

Dan was able to do the inspection immediately. He was thorough and provided a report that explained all the issues accompanied by photos. Everything was understandable. The best inspecter we’ve ever used.

Dan was recommended to us by our realtor. I didn't shop around for quotes, so I can't speak to price comparisons. However, I can say that Dan did a very thorough 2-hour home inspection of our ~1,900 finished sq. ft. home. The radon testing took place over 3 days and was included in the approximate cost below. We arrived at the home during after the 2-hour inspection for a 1-hour walk-through. Dan took us through each space in the home (including the closets, storage spaces, and detached garage), described our attic space, and walked us around the perimeter of the home/lot. In each space, Dan pointed out all major and minor issues. Furthermore, when addressing each issue, Dan made a suggestion of whether the fix was appropriate for DIY, a general handyman, or a specialized contractor. Dan included photos of all major and minor issues in the detailed report that he sent to us later that day. Finally, because we are first-time home buyers, we really appreciated that Dan told us things like how and when to change our furnace filters, how to turn off the water line, etc. I would definitely use Dan again in the future, and highly recommend him!

Dan performed our buyer's home inspection on an 1890ish Victorian. Before scheduling, I contacted him with several questions. He got back to me quickly and answered all of my questions thoroughly. His quote was very reasonable compared to other companies I researched. I tagged along for the entire inspection. He took time to explain everything (the good and the bad) and even educate me on some general home maintenance tips, which was especially helpful to a first-time homebuyer. He considered the home's historic designation and how that might affect repairs. We weren't able to access part of the home initially, so Dan made arrangements to return. After the inspection, we received a written report promptly. It was comprehensive and included several pictures to highlight issues. I felt well-informed and equipped for the next steps in our home purchase because of Dan's expertise. Additionally, his excellent customer service made the whole process quite painless!

Dan was easy to schedule, arrived promptly, and did an extremely thorough inspection. He removed his shoes before entering the home. He brought all appropriate equipment- ladder, various meters, measuring tape, camera, etc. He answered all questions I had about his process and provided helpful suggestions regarding required maintenance as he worked. When he was finished, he provided a comprehensive, easy-to-understand report with pictures. He emailed the report the day after the inspection. His pricing was appropriate given the information I was able to glean from other home inspectors. If I were in need of an inspection again, I would not hesitate to use him, and also would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend him to a friend or family member looking for the type of service that he provides.

Dan was early, extremely professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a home inspection of any kind. He was thorough of the house and pointed out to me things that needed fixing and even showed me how to fix a couple of things! He was patient, kind, and extremely helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend! He also got the report from the inspection to us the NEXT morning and in the inspection report it showed pictures of the actual things that needed fixing. We hired Dan at the recommendation of a close friend, and couldn't be more pleased. Dan was thorough, straight forward, and answered all the questions we had (which were many as our house is quite the fixer-upper). He even stayed later than the expected walk-through time of 1 hour because we were asking so many questions about so many things. Dan was able to answer all of them to the best of his ability and even offer suggestions for the future. I feel the 3 hours he spends going through your potential future home really show when you get to walk through everything with him. He provides a PDF file with all of your information as well as any pictures of any issues that makes it easy to go back later and review. My parents heard me talk about how great I thought Dan was so much, they hired him to do their new house as well! I feel anyone in the metro area would really enjoy Dan as his attention to detail is top notch and I would recommend him to any of my friends.

Dan initially performed a Truth in Housing inspection and he was so great to work with I brought him back for a full home inspection. He was very professional and thorough, and you could tell he really knows his stuff when it comes to houses. He went above and beyond to make sure we knew all of the problem areas of the house and how to fix them/get them fixed. Working with Dan was a highly valuable learning experience.
