The treatment really did seem to strengthen the tree and as a result I have fewer branches to pick up, even after a windy day. I gave their service a B for quality only because I expected the trim of the ash to include branches that were overshadowing our crab tree and to basically remove all dead branches, however small. Part of the problem was that I was probably not specific enough, and was not at home when the work was being done. Cleanup was pretty good, but I still had plenty of small branches to clean up. They were very punctual and responsive in terms of getting back to me.

Chuck Madsen from Shadywood was painfully honest (and, as we told him, either a very bad salesman or a very good one). He told us that the landscaping work we were planning would not be good for our trees. He also told us that we did not need any other work done (and pointed out a few minor things that we could do by ourselves and told us how to do them). This is why we ended up spending nothing. We would have no hesitation calling Shadywood in the future and, based upon this experience, are unlikely to seek quotes from other companies when we do so.

They did exactly what they said they would do on the day and time they said. They did a very, very professional job.

Brian Curtis met with my husband on several trees that we wanted removed. Brian took excellent notes and marked each tree to be removed with a ribbon and gave my husband a written estimate (they charged us exactly what they quoted). When the team came back a few days later to remove the trees the supervisor showed up first to confirm which trees were to be removed. They gave an estimated time of 5 hours to do the job, but they were done in 4 hours with a complete clean up of all the areas. Everything was done as we expected. We will definetely have them back as our experience with them was great! And we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to our neighbors and friends.

They were clear on what work was going to happen and when it was going to happen. While I was here, I asked for them to take out some abound the line brass as well and they happily did that for little bit of extra charge. They were really open and communicative. They are a great resource, so get a bid from them.

They called with estimate. I gave them the go ahead. They cut down tree and sent us the bill. They also cleaned up some other branches that were in the back yard without charging for it.

Very good and professional experience. Requested quote via their website on a Saturday, received quote in my door that Monday. Received prompt response via email when I had a few clarifying questions. Work was done as discussed and per quoted amount. Clean-up was very thorough, nothing left behind.

They were professional from start to finish. My maple tree had split in two and needed to be cut down as soon as possible. I wrapped a chain around it to hopefully keep it from splitting further and falling on my house. Shadywood Tree was prompt in calling and scheduling and the price was right. As friends and family would cut up the wood, I needed only for the tree to be cut down and the stump removed. They cut the tree in manageable pieces and respectfully asked where I would like the branches to be put. They even did a clean up, which was more than I expected for the price. About a week later, the stump was removed with special equipment. The charge was $295 for the tree and $107 for removal of the stump. I am very pleased and would use them again.

Called Shadywood since we had used them in 2006 and were very happy with their work. Received a quick response back to our call and an appointment the next day to get an estimate. Received a range (min and max) and that our final bill would be based on the number of guys and the hours to complete (not no higher than the max). The work was scheduled based on our availability but had to be rescheduled due to the "inland hurricane" weather. Rescheduled within a week. Received a call on Sunday to confirm when they would start on Monday. They worked fast and efficiently and cleaned up everything very well. Some of the large branches were difficult since they had to be careful not to damage other plantings. There was no damage to any of them or our yard. We were billed for less than the maximum. Great job and would recommend them highly.

Especially considering that I turned out to be the high-maintenance, diva client, these guys were amazingly friendly and professional. The website is well-organized, well-written, and user-friendly. Keith, the multi-certified arborist, responded quickly to my online request for a bid which he left (as requested) in my door. During a follow-up phone conversation about mulch removal and stump-grinding details, however, we both realized that I'd been unclear about which row of scraggly trees I wanted to have removed. Fifteen minutes later, Keith came over for a walk-through. Basically, if he hadn't been so attentive to the details, I would have been the neighborhood pariah who killed the privacy trees. He marked the right trees with red tape, adjusted the bid, and graciously rebuffed my embarassed apologies. Then I changed my mind about one of the mature elms marked for removal: could I really justify taking this one down? I called the office and spoke to Tracy who pulled up my file immediately and recorded/confirmed my requested changes. On the designated day, a crew of friendly, professional men showed up 15 minutes early with trucks, a crane, and traffic cones/signs. We reviewed the game plan one more time, referring to Tracy's detailed notes. As someone who frets over the perils of cleaning the gutters, I appreciated the ratio of machines and men to the size/danger of the job, and the fact that they wore orange vests and plenty of safety gear. I couldn't stand to watch for more than 20 seconds at a time as these guys scaled huge trees with chain saws, but from what I did observe, they did a surgically-efficient job. They removed the smaller branches, and cut the remaining skeletons into large chunks which they lowered with the crane into a front loader (and then a waiting truck). Ten minutes into the project, Keith the arborist showed up to check out the process in person, joke about my guilty, tree-murdering second thoughts, and (again) update the pricing. I really appreciated the competitive cost, and the high-detail/low-subjectivity of the bid and final bill. Four hours later, you could hardly tell from the grass that Shadywood had been there at all. At one point I even saw one of the guys raking walnut brush out of my next door neighbor's vegetable garden. Our lot looks great. We're enjoying the extra sunshine. My neighbors still like me. This is one of most positive experiences I've had in over sixteen years as a home owner.

Decided to go with another firm. It was a toss-up.

called for estimate with specific completion date. They completed on time and did an excellent cleanup job.

Brian came and gave an estimate. When I said I needed the branches taken away and not ground up, he said that isn't what he normally did, but provided me the name of a company that could.

I called and left a message saying I was interested in an estimate. They called back about 2 hours later and sent someone out the next day. He was very knowledgable and polite. His prices were good too. I got a discount for being with Angie's List. The guys who did the work were also very polite and cleaned up all the branches and brush so that there was no mess left in the yard. They are coming back to do some additional work this winter when our crab apple tress become dormant.

They arrived on time and did a very professional job. They were very efficient and clean up the yard of branches when they were done.

They came and took down the limb and chopped it up. Cleaned up all the branches that had fallen.

Very satisfied on the work performed. They were attentative to the job needed. They were available & responsive when I discovered a few tree roots not cut the first time out.

Brian Curtis arrived at the appointed time. His opening comment was that he had only 15 minutes. He checked out tree #1 while I ended my phone call. For tree #2 he needed to check out a cavity about 10 feet above the ground. He had a ladder on his truck but said "I don't go up ladders". "That's to paint parts of my house". He looked at the cavity from the ground (no real view) and said it was "OK". Spent all of the remaining 15 minutes trying to sell his firm's capabilities. Showed no interest in my yard, my trees or my concerns. All of us have a bad day from time to time, but my experience with Brian Curtis was totally negative from start to finish. I will be looking for another contractor.

The estimate was a little lower than another that I had for the same work. The company was able to come the next day and they were very easy to work with.

The trees I wanted trimmed have difficult access, power lines on both sides, on the property line and close to two houses. When making the bid they took the time to listen to my concerns and tell me how they would address them. They were polite with the neighbors and did a very good clean up. I'm happy and my neighbor is happy.

They did a good job and I appreciate them coming out promptly.
