Description of Work: Scherer Bros. installed a Marvin sliding French door to replace our regular slider off of our deck from our kitchen. We LOVE it! The quality is top notch - the wood is beautiful - Marvin isn't cheap, but definitely worth it for this project. Other than it was 10 below that day (unusual), and the door was open for several hours, they did exactly what they said they'd do, and in the time allotted. Excellent installers.

Description of Work: We had four windows replaced (3 bathroom windows and one transom). The new windows are Marvin Infinity. Definitely would use again.

Description of Work: Replaced 13 double hung windows and 1 sliding patio door. Job was well planned and executed. Our Salesperson was attentive and responsive to our needs. The installation crew was punctual and did high quality work on time. We are extremely happy with the results.

Description of Work: Purchased and installed 3 windows. The windows are high quality and we are pleased with the final product. The installation was delayed a few days as there was a miscalculation on the window size that had to be resolved. The installation had to be corrected for the trim work that was not properly aligned. The sales and installation staff were all professional and responsive. The problems were all corrected in a timely manner. Both problems did arise due to errors by this company and could have been avoided.

Description of Work: Replaced most windows in our home with high energy efficient models (actual dates, Spring 2011). We had used them before to replace several downstairs windows. This time, we hired them for all the windows in a major renovation. Not the cheapest company, but the windows look and function great and we appreciated their professionalism.

Description of Work: to date, Scherer has replaced 6 windows in our 1920 home. They have done an excellent job. The first job was to replace four windows, including the interior and exterior trim. The second job was to replace two windows, maintaining the original wood trim. We have been very pleased with their quality, attention to detail, and professionalism. Each job was completed in one day and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. We continue to use them as we replace additional old windows in our house. We just placed an order for three more windows. They are expensive, but we had multiple bids and Scherer windows was inline with what others were charging, plus they offer no interest financing to mitigate the expense. We will happily continue to work with Scherer until all of our windows are replaced. The new windows have made a significant impact on our utility bills!

Description of Work: The service provider was very professional. The work was done on time and the quality was outstanding.

Description of Work: Long, long story, but in a nutshell the sales associate at Scherer Lumber failed to ask if we needed tempered glass, then ordered a very expensive window without it. He wasn't truthful about the incident to his management, who then blamed the mistake on us. Scherer Lumber eventually paid for replacement sashes, but Scherer Window and Door Consultants, who offered us a contract for installation, wouldn't cover the cost of installing the replacement sashes. After a struggle to get them to reconsider, I gave up and decided to sign the contract. Just before signing it, Scherer retracted it because I asked too many questions about the fine print. Very unprofessional conduct. Almost no regard for customer satisfaction.

Description of Work: We converted a 3 season porch to a 4 season mudroom by replacing the storm windows with 3 big glider windows. While we are very happy with our windows and the installer was fantastic, working with Scherer Bros scheduling was really frustrating. The sales guy was good when we purchased the windows, but after putting down the deposit, they never called to schedule the installation. I called after 6 weeks, and it took two weeks of me tracking down their scheduler to get the install scheduled (he was on vacation, which would've been fine, but they kept telling me he would contact me while on vacation and then he didn't). They didn't tell me when I bought them that I would need to be home the day before install as well to receive the windows. They suggested that I just leave my garage door open (which you obviously can't do in S Mpls without getting your stuff stolen). The day before a dumpster was also delivered unannounced to my house and blocked up my driveway since they didn't have a permit to put it on the street. It was just one thing after another and I'll go with someone else next time to avoid the hassle.
