They were good installers. The windows and doors were what they said they would be. They were on time and were courteous. The quality of the product was excellent. They were professional and had good knowledge. The workmanship was excellent. We looked at five other people, and the price was fair for the work. We would use them again in the future.

I called Scherer Window & Door Consultants numerous times during September 2010, requesting several quotes on various options, before finally deciding to go with the Marvin product. My sales representative was very patient, and extremely helpful in providing all the information I needed to make an informed decision. Once the windows were ready, the Scherer team arrived on time, set up and went right to work; sealing off all the work areas with plastic wrap and tested for lead-based paint. They then removed all the old window inserts, and installed the new INFINITY windows from Marvin. The crew was very professional, very quiet, and very tidy. I was impressed with how quickly they got the job done, while being efficient and thorough. They cleaned the enitre work area, and removed all debris, and plastic coverings. I love my new windows, and am very impressed with how much warmer it feels around the windows, with no frost build up like I used to get during the coldest days of winter. I will definitely call Scherer Consultants back to replace my remaining windows, and have recommended them family and friends.

There was a minor mix-up on the installation date--the installer had to reschedule the installation, but on the original date the truck showed up with all the windows, and we had no place to store them. I explained the situation and they delivery guy from Scherer took care of everything--didn't just dump the windows like it wasn't his problem. That was no big deal, these things happen. The installer was really great--there was one window that was tucked next to a staircase--really tricky but he didn't complain and he figured it out. He even took down the blinds and put them up again for me, even though that was my responsibility--he told me not to worry about it. The windows look great and we are happy with them. I especially want to thank the women in the Scherer business office who was so nice and went out of her way to let me chunk up the payments so I could use my credit card and maximize the frequent flyer miles I could earn. The credit card company was jerking us around--a long story but when Delta took over Northwest my frequent flyer credit card magically converted to a much lower limit... I told Scherer I could just write her a check for the entire amount, but she let me charge my max on my card, pay the card off the same day, and the as soon as the payment cleared, max it out again, etc., so I could get my miles. She would even check with the credit card company and let me know when the payment cleared. Unbelieveable! Who does that these days? I felt like I was working with a small company that really cared about me and was on my side.

Salesman was friendly and professional. He gave us a quick quote and answered all of our questions quickly and courteously. The installer did an excellent job. The door works perfectly, and all edges were well sealed. He matched our existing woodwork, and everything looks really nice. Our entryway was completely cleaned up before he left.

When we ordered the windows we ordered all high efficiency windows, but when they ordered them they only ordered the high efficiency for one side of the house and regular for the other side. However, they charged us for high efficiency windows for the whole house and I didn't appreciate that. I found out all this and called them on it they gave us the choice of ordering the correct ones or keeping the ones we had, so we had them order the right ones. They recommended a company for painting the trim because the windows are fiberglass and difficult to stain. So we hired that company and they came out and wrecked the windows and I didn't appreciate that either. Scherer ordered the windows again that were ruined and they had to reorder so we waited another 4-5 weeks.

I think they are very reliable. I've done a lot of business with them over the years.

Chris, my initial contact, was fantsatic to deal with. He measured all windows and made solid recommendations on which ones needed to be replaced and which ones did not. Chris made the process very easy. Ths only challenge I had was on the actual installation. Twice the wrong parts were sent to complete the job, causing an 8 week delay in having the window completed. Chris was helpful in communicating to me about the delays. I did receive several calls from their billing desk asking for final payment when the job was not completed due to the wrong part issue, so it appeared as thought the communication was not made internally on the delay.

The sales representative was very thorough and most knowledgeable about Marvin windows, the windows that we were interested in purchasing. They were pleasant to deal with, very responsive and had a competitive bid. I would use them again in the future to get an estimate.

I got several bids. Most companies tried to pressure me into low-cost vinyl insert windows. The fact that I don't like vinyl windows didn't concern them. Also, my house has a lot of rotting trim on the outside. I was never satisfied that the other companies' work would fix the problem permanently. Scherer listened to what I wanted and recommended total replacement of all trim inside and out and the price was not out of range. The project took 2 days. I was not there at all for the installation. They cleaned up spotless after both days. The quality of work and product is amazing.

After receiving an unapproachable quote from another Angies list highly rated company I contacted Scherer Window and Door Consultant. This company also had good references on Angies and carried the Marvin line of windows. Our salesman was wonderful and did not berate competitors nor try to push our costs out of line. Actually, he listened to what we wanted and gave us exactly the product we wanted at the price we had budgeted. When he left the house we had a full writeup of product and costs in hand good for 30 days. Typically I wait at least overnight but in this case I called him an hour later to complete the paperwork. Our windows were all custom sized. Product and installation was available a couple weeks earlier than estimated. On the day of installation a crew arrived. They were extremely personable and professional. These were inserts but there was still a fair amount of work required. The installation looks good and the Infinity inserts do not scream insert. They look quite nice and operate nicely. The trim work by this crew is very nice and a definite cut above some trim work a previous window company had done in our house. The installation was completed by early afternoon. The house was left cleaner than found.

They were very professional, gave good service, and were very prompt to respond. I would use them again in the future.

They are very, very good. They are fairly priced and local. They do very high-quality work. They are well-known in this region and have been in business since maybe the 1920's or 1930's. Word-of-mouth is very good, and they have multiple sites. The installation great. There were no problems.

The company representative was knowledgeable and was very responsive to calls and questions. The installation team was professional and did a quality job. We were very satisfied with the job.

Very good in store and at home presentation of options and services. Very clear information regarding what would happen during the install process. Price was moderately high but the doors were high end and the install was in an older home. The installer was very considerate, professional and competent. It took a good day for him to carefully remove and install the new doors and hardware. There was no incidental damage to property and the the doors work perfectly and look great.

We thought they were pretty good in just about every area. Their price was also pretty good, and their quality was good also. They were pretty quick too.

I would recommend Scherer Window and Door to anyone looking for quality work, professionalism, and promptness at a reasonable price. I'd had 5 other vendors come out to provide a quote for replacing my 11 ancient windows, but when Dave Wahlstrom arrived from Scherer, I knew I'd be making the right decision to hire his company. He had a friendly, helpful, no-pressure, no-BS approach, and didn't try to up-sell (like everyone else). He listened to what I needed, prepared quotes (and changed them -- patiently! -- as I changed my mind about grid designs), and kept in regular contact throughout the process. He answered my questions with great explanations of the product and installation process, but was never condescending or "sales-y" in doing so. He was readily available -- and quick to respond -- through both e-mail and phone. And he was happy to work with me to complete paperwork for my city's "Rehabiliation Incentive" program, which refunds a portion of the purchase price to me after I submit (lots of) paperwork from my contractor. My windows were ordered, made, and installed within one month of my approving the final quote. Greg installed them---he was polite and did an excellent job (even offered me good ideas for a couple other home improvement projects I had in progress). Everyone showed up on time, the mess was taken away before the installation was even completed, and the new windows are perfect. I couldn't be happier with Scherer---the product, the service, and the end-result. It'll be an easy decision for me in the future: I'd definitely hire them again, and might even replace some doors soon, since I know a great contractor for the job!

I can't imagine our experience going any better than it did. We visited Scherer's showroom in Hopkins twice, and were helped both times by knowledgeable (and non-pushy!) consultants who answered our questions. We asked Scherer for an estimate, and they worked with us to find a suitable time to measure our window openings. When the window measurer came, we asked even more questions. In addition to honestly trying to determine the pros and cons of vinyl vs. fiberglass, our questions were meant to evaluate *how* the consultant answered. Did what he said fit with what representatives from other companies had said? Did it reflect the information we had found online? Did the consultant appear to make up answers to keep from appearing ignorant (like sales people from other companies seemingly had)? Thanks in part to how honest and straightforward Dave W.'s answers were, we decided that Scherer was the company that we wanted to do business with. Scherer let us know exactly how long we could expect to wait while the windows were being made, and sent us instructions ahead of time so that we would be prepared when the installer came. Both the windows and the installer arrived on time, and in about a day and a half we were looking out of our new windows. We were as impressed with Scherer's consultants and installer as we are with Marvin's fiberglass replacement windows. The windows are beautiful, and we are confident that they were installed with care.

I started researching windows Fall 2008. Dave was my sales rep. I wasn't sure whether I wanted wood vs. vinyl and full vs. insert replacements. Dave wrote up multiple estimates for different possibilities. Spring 2009 we again had a couple more conversations and he refigured a final estimate again. He is knowledgeable and gave a good presentation on the product and fully answered my list of questions, helping me to make my final decision on what would best meet my needs. Mitch and his crew that installed the windows were great. We weren't sure what was going to be behind the wall where the new window would be installed. But Mitch checked to ensure what he thought he needed to do would meet code and was intent on ensuring my cove ceiling wouldn't be damaged. That attention to detail gave me confidence that the new window would be installed properly. His crew completed the entire job in a day and a half. The oak trim around the new windows was done very nicely and perfectly matched the style in the rest of the house. They did a good job cleaning up both the inside and aroundthe outside of the house. I love my new windows and wished I had done this many years ago. I would definitely reecommend Scherer Window and Door.

They came out and gave us an estimate. They were one of the cheapest because they weren't going to rip everything out like the other companies. I have beautiful wood work in my home and I didn't want them to tear it out. The guy was in and out in about an hour and cleaned up when he left. We would have probably gone a different way if we were younger because the windows we have lasted 15 years.

Placed order for windows in November 2008 and installed in January 2009. Crew arrived within the 1/2 hour arrival time window when the installation appointment was made. They went to work right away setting up the area with drop clothes. Shorty after the crew arrived the windows were delivered to the site. The foreman covered the process of removal and replacement with me. He also gave me a copy of the installation manual and warranty information from the manufacturer. It took about 6 hours to install the 5 windows and the crew was good about clean up after installation. I elected to keep the debris from the old windows and was issued a $50 credit on the overall cost for taking care of the disposal over the quoted price of the windows. This could have been pre-arranged at the time of the order, but at that time I wasn't sure how much materials there would be. There ended up being 2 lawn bag sized materials plus the old window sashes, not a whole lot. Winter may not seem like the time to replace windows, but in the case of 1928 windows and their heat loss it made more sense to do the work in the Winter to achieve overall heating savings. Also installers often have extra incentives to work all Winter long so a better price can be negotiated for the windows and installation.

The entire process was easy and even fun! Gary from the sales dept. came out for our initial consultation, measured openings and delivered information. He came out again to double check the measurements and to have us sign a contract. On installation day the crew came promptly at 7 AM with the windows. They were very professional. They laid down drop cloths to protect the floors in my home. They worked hard all day, remained cheerful and with a good attitude. Their work was systematic and done with exceptional quality. All the windows were installed by the end of the day with one worker returning the second to finish trim work and other small details. No damage was done to my home in the process of installation. My new Marvin windows are beautiful!

Dave Wahlstrom at Scherer Windows was our sales consultant that helped us design a beautiful bay window to fit in the space where we had a non-ventilating picture window box in our living room. Instead of a prefabricated bay window, Mitch (the subcontractor/installer) created a bay with a large center picture window and two double-hung flanker windows (all Infinity by Marvin windows). They insulated the previously cold wall, as they had to build out the frame of the bay window. The windows were finished with a maple stool and apron casing to match the other windows of the house. They re-sided with cedar shingles on the exterior of the window box so that it appears as though the bay window was always a part of the house. We are now able to enjoy a living room with functioning windows in the summer and no ice sheets forming during the winter.

Dave was punctual and honest. The work crew delivered a quality product. We are very happy with our windows.

They did such an excellent job on our window, they were able to meet our specifications with the design and the size of the window. They were very professional to work with, they took out the old window and installed the new window all within the same day. They cleaned up very well and didn't leave a big mess behind.
