It went very well. We reviewed different windows and guided us on brand choice. They were very friendly and informative. They will review different features which is good. It helped me narrow down the features and price of windows I am looking for.

It has been good so far. There was an error in one of the windows, and they are going to make good on it. They recognized their error and were willing to order another window. We got two bids. They were prompt in their service. They seemed to be knowledgeable, so we went with them. They know their business, and they deal with windows. Everything besides the one window was good.

We had a sales person over to the house and he gave us information about windows, with some models and some literature for us to review. We chose to have Scherer give us an estimate because they had such great ratings and recommendations on Angies List. We learned that it does not matter how good the windows are if they are not installed properly. We also know that we were looking at spending $10K and wanted to be sure to get good service and value. We planned to stop by the showroom in Hopkins on Saturday and our sales person would not be there however he did inform his colleague about us. When we went to the showroom a few days later we were impressed that the sales person there was prepared to talk with us. We also were able to observe him talking to another customer. Both sales people that we had observed were low pressure and offering information on products. By seeing the product we were able to make a decision and arranged for a complete measurement for the order. At the time of the first meeting we were informed the installation was booked out. Although our windows were available within a few weeks we had to wait a few more weeks for installation. The installation team was fantastic. They were a well-coordinated team. They were tidy, well-groomed, polite and friendly without wasting time. Each person knew exactly what needed to be done, how and when. I was home with my dog the whole time they were here. It took two days for the installation of windows into six openings. There was lead present, of course, so that had to be dealt with. Because of the age of the home and the installation of the existing windows some of the plaster was dislodged on removal. At the end of a long day one of the contractors offered to go out and buy some filler and patch the holes in the plaster. He was concerned that we would be upset about the condition of the walls. I reassured him that the plaster problems were expected on my part and that I was actually surprised they were not worse. When they did the final walk-through of the work they were clear about two items that needed to be fixed. There was a very slight bend in one of the screens and one of the windows had a broken latch. The parts were immediately ordered and when they arrived it took about half an hour to fix. So far we are pleased with the new windows. We have more light and we feel the room is warmer. I highly recommend the team.

Top notch all the way. My mother is 80 years old and decided she needed new windows on one sid of her home. She had previously used Scherer to replace her front door. My mother is rather independent and confident in her abilities. Even so, I still worry about her being taken advantage of. I followed the process without being directly involved. The process went very well. Dave Wahlstrom took great care of my mother. He educated her on the windows and the process. I checked on the pricing and he was right in there. The workers came when promised, finished when promised, and cleaned up. I looked at the installation afterwards and was impressed with the detail. My mother loved the experience and the quality of services she received. I would not hesitate to give Scherer my highest recommendation. Thanks to the good folks there that did a great job! It's good to see an organization out there to do the right thing and not just see an 80 year old as a opportunity.

They were awesome. They are known for the quality of the materials and installation. The carpenter was very experienced. I had a difficulty with the back door. Since my house is from the 1920’s, the door was very small and oddly shaped. He was able to remove the trim and install the same type of trim. The screen door was really tricky. I went with the door that they were selling. I am extremely happy with them. I would use them again. They are expensive, but they are very good. The work cost me about $2,500. I got good value for the price I paid. I will use them again in the future.

I checked Angie’s List and they were highly rated. We wanted modern windows and they were local suppliers. I spent about $13,000. We did shop around and they were competitive.

Their consultant came out. His name was Kit Kildahl. He came out and did consulting job. I told him what windows and doors we wanted to be replaced. He picked out doors and windows for me. They were great. They were not cheap but you get what you pay for. They had Marvin windows, which were best you can get. I would use them in the future.

Overall, it went well. There were a few minor miscommunication issues and the wrong jamb size (from supplier) was used for the front entry door. However, they took the door assembly back and re-built the jamb on the same day. The two installers (Jeremy and Min) were top notch and left no detail unattended. Jeremy stayed until 7:30 pm to finish installing the front door unit and storm door.

I was looking to replace a clerestory window over my front door and casement windows in my living room where the frames showed signs of rot. Chris Judd came to my home, looked at my windows and sliding glass doors. He concurred with the replacement of the windows I had selected as being the highest priority. He was willing to spend time with me, explaining what I had, what was the probable cause of the problems and what he recommended for replacement. He also told me that it wasn't necessary to purchase the most expensive windows (the engineered wood frames) to resolve my concerns. I received bids from some other companies - for Marvin, Pella and Anderson windows. The prices were comparable. The other company sales personnel did just that - sell. They did not make any concerted effort to ensure that the window replacement solution would be resolving my problems. The actual installation, on a cold day in January, went exactly as planned. The crew was prompt, competent, and extremely neat. I was not able to move one piece of antique furniture before they came (as a precaution, not a necessity) and they offered to move it, at no additional charge. They saved the trim boards for me, without my asking, so that the painters would have samples of the stain that needed to be matched. Chris Judd will be the first person I contact for any further window work.

Bid was very reasonable, professional and courtesy. Sold products and service on the merits of Scherer, not bad mouthing others. They were very nice, and followed up a reasonable amount (as opposed to every day) while we were deciding. Installation crew showed up on time with a dumpster (we replaced a lot of windows), did the job in one day with 6 crew, cleaned up flawlessly, quality of install is top notch inside and out. AFter interviewing 4 or 5 window companies, I was concerned about the installation more than the windows, and Scherer seemed up front and honest. To date I have no regrets.

They were responsive, which I really appreciated. I'm waiting to hear back from another bid but I am considering using them. In general, it was a very positive experience.

They did the first and third phase with a one man crew which we really liked. When getting an estimate, make sure they have the correct number of windows ordered and tell them if there are any size variations that you know about. Overall I thought they did a great job and I would recommend them.

They did such a good job that we are bringing them back in a couple of weeks to do some more window work.

When I called Scherer, they immediately scheduled Dave Wahlstrom to come meet with us a few days later. Dave was on time and brought us a lot of information as well as photos of their work in many different types of homes. I liked working with him because he gave us a lot of information, but I never felt like he was trying to "sell". He's a guy who has a background for many years with windows and is a window guy, not a sales guy. He worked up the quote for us right away and showed us quotes for multiple options of windows that we were considering. I was very impressed that a few days later we received a handwritten card from him thanking us for the opportunity. This was in stark contrast to the mailing we got from another company we considered to tell us that our quote would expire if we didn't call now. In addition to having the best person to work with, Scherer also had the best price of the quotes we received. The crew that came to install the windows was friendly and professional. They got all the windows installed and finished in 2 days. They checked in with us to make sure we approved their progress. They were also very thorough with clean up; the foreman toured to check the cleanliness of all areas and made some of his guys come back to clean better. We got a thorough explanation of how to take the sashes in and out. Also, the foreman told us that one of the screens got damaged in installation. We couldn't even tell until he pointed the spot out to us, but he ordered a replacement screen for us anyway. Overall we had a very good experience with Scherer Window and Door and have recommended them to several friends.

I called Scherer Window and Door Consultants and the company sent out a sales person (Kit Kildahl) who knew his stuff and didn't find it necessary to bad mouth other companies who were giving me bids, but rather, chose to describe the Marvin products without slamming other products. His years of experience as a carpenter, doing this type of work, was evident in his knowledge of the products, and in the advice he gave me to assure I was getting what I needed, based on my personal and financial wants and needs. It was a no pressure experience! When I visited the showroom unannounced the next day after his visit to give me the estimate, he took the time to show me the windows we had discussed, and walked me around the various showrooms to look at other products we had discussed. Once I decided to go with them, my order was sent in promptly and I do believe the windows were ready for installation in about 4 weeks. As I was going on travel abroad about the time the windows would be ready, they simply stored them in their warehouse and awaited my return. I kept in contact with Mr. Kildahl who responded each time promptly, with answers to my questions and other pertinent information for setting the final installation date. June 7th arrived, the installers were here on time, early in the morning, and immediately got to work removing the old windows, checking for lead, preparing my rooms for the install. They finished around 3 p.m. and cleaned all construction debris, placing it in my driveway for pickup by one of the Scherer personnel, who appeared about 1 hour later to remove the old windows and other associated debris from my driveway. I LOVE my windows and am very happy with the entire experience and will certainly call them again should I have other windows or doors to replace.
