Kirk, the salesperson I met with, was prompt and professional. I appreciated the appointment email summary, with the name of the salesperson I would be meeting with and his contact information. I also appreciated the time he took to review window options and discuss pricing. His follow-up on questions was also impressive. I really liked the quality of the Marvin Window product line I was shown (Integrity), and the color and hardware options available. One aspect of their approach that does not appeal to me is the high pressured sales to commit to the project and terms at the close of the meeting. Given I was looking at window options and service providers, commiting to the proposed plan immediately was not of interest. After meeting with various providers I did decide to pursue the Marvin line with Scherer, but wanted to see which product I would purchase (i.e. Infinity line seems to be only available for installation through "approved" companies and Integrity line seems more commonly available at certain millwork/lumber yards). Since I was not able to see either window in person during our meeting, I decided to visit the Scherer Lumber Company and Marvin Showroom in Hopkins. I thought this was the perfect plan since I could view the actual windows by walking from one parking lot to the next, since each window was in a separate building on site. When I went to the Marvin Showroom, however, my decision to use Scherer Brothers derailed. Once inside the showroom, I had some follow-up questions that could not be answered by the staff member behind the main desk. When she asked the only salesperson in the vicinity for assistance (Bob), he answered abruptly with sarcasm and directed his responses to the other staff member as if I was not present. Apparently my inquiries into the two product lines made Bob think that I was trying to gain information from him but had planned on using another company. Maybe his confusion would have been resolved by actually speaking to me, the customer. When I asked Kirk about this distasteful interaction, he explained Bob actions and vouched for his usually friendly demeanor. After this interaction I opted to take my business elsewhere, since I was concerned that if Kirk ever left the company I may need to ask Bob or someone like him for assistance with warranty issues.

The whole process went very smoothly. Dave Wahlstrom was our salesperson, and he was infinitely patient with us as we changed our minds over and over again. I believe he created five different estimates for us. He was always happy to rework the estimate, and always let us know how long it would take for him to get back to us. The only thing that happened was that the kitchen double-hung windows were not primed as they were supposed to be, but Dave immediately revised the final bill to make up for it. The installation process was excellent. The crew arrived when scheduled, were very pleasant, cleaned up extraordinarily well, and did a fantastic job on the installation. I also appreciated all of the upfront instructions from Scherer on how to prepare for the installation. Very helpful. We love our new windows, and would definitely use Scherer again. Ask for Dave, and you're guaranteed to get exceptional service.

I made the appointment and he showed up late. I told him that I had had storm damage and he ignored it. I didn't hear back from him in around 3 weeks. When I called back to follow up, he said that he got busy and forgot to call me back. I asked about the estimate and he said that he would have to call me back. I never did get my written estimate.

Painting was provided by tenant. Dave Wahlstrom was on time and with cost competitive estimate. Estimate was accurate with no surprises. Installation was flawless. Shopped two other companies.

Called for estimate and consultant Dave came out and reviewed all the options I had for replacement windows. Decided to go with wood interior and aluminum clad exterior to maintain look of current windows inside. This is more expensive option, but wood look it much better than vinyl or fake wood. Estimate was competitive or better compared with other major replacement companies, but Scherer has good track record and Marvin windows are known to be very good quality. Placed ordered and asked that windows be installed in early April. Install was scheduled around my needs and crew came and installed in one day. Crew works mostly for Scherer and were on time, very competent, and did good job and cleaned up well. My experience with Scherer Window Consultants was very positive on all fronts and I would highly recommend them.

I started looking at door replacement options in October/November of 2013. Contacting various contractors and companies letting them know that I was interested in replacing the doors on my home. I had three or four companies come out and take a look at my project after emailing with them and a few others. Tracy from Scherer Brothers was the most responsive, professional and detail oriented out of any of the people I had contacted. Tracy personally came to my home and evaluated my job, made a number of suggestions based on what we told him we wanted to do. Greg (the installer) then came by to have another look at the job to ensure they did it right the first time. Because we were in the middle of winter, we waiting until it was a decent temp prior to starting the work. They scheduled me for March 24th. Greg came out and installed all four of the doors to my satisfaction - I had zero complaints. Tracy, Greg and the rest of the Scherer Brothers team were nothing but exceptional. I have already recomenned Scherer Brothers to my neighbors and friends who have come by to see their work. I am so happy with the service and work of Scherer Brothers that I am now wondering what else I could get them to work on or help me with at my home.

Great! Really pleased with the installers from MDS remodeling. They were amazing!

One person came out to install them all. The window sashes are easy however, the patio door is a 12 footer with 2 stationary glass sashes and two sliding doors. It took basically all day to finish. He did a great job ! | |We will use them again as we have more sashes that are close to replacement. Highly recommend!

Crew showed up early, windows arrived on time, and work began. Lead test was positive, so remediation "tent" was set up. They did a great job of keeping the whole house clean during their work. The room they worked in was left in great shape as well. Windows are what we expected. No surprises during installation. We are happy with the work. Good crew, good communication all along the way. One comment - being a window installer, they should have a bottle of glass cleaner handy. The windows were covered in sawdust and debris from the install. A pretty easy finishing touch would have netted an A in professionalism.

All phases went well - sales and installation were excellent.

Installer was courteous, professional and cleaned up after.

They are a dream to work with for design and their installation crew is very professional and clever. I would use them again in a minute, except they've now done the whole house.

Wonderful windows but very expensive. Sales Rep Kirk was very patient and helpful. 6 week wait for windows to be made. The windows were delivered within the scheduled time and the contractors arrived minutes later. The contractors were careful to check which options we wanted for interior and exterior trim. They had the windows installed in one day in bitterly cold weather. Came back the next day to finish the interior trim. We are very happy with the result.

Installed two new oversized sliding windows in 2nd floor bedroom, requiring old window removal, heavy lifting, new window installation, interior and exterior trim.

There were some windows that were of a new addition already, so we didn't need them to do those but they replaced all the others. They were great! They came out and understood what we wanted, the quality that we wanted and understood our concerns about what we had and also made a great recommendation for what to do in a dining room window that we just weren't sure how to fix without spending a lot of money. They made a great recommendation that we were very happy with. They got the job done when they said they were going to get it done. It was a quality job. They were easy to work with. The people that they found to do the installation were great and involved us along the way and gave us some options when some odd things came up.

Our house was built in 1950 and although the double-hung windows had been modfied at some point with tilt-packs and aluminum storm windows, they were very leaky. The wood --blonded oak--was ugly and beat up too. After a couple of years of hemming and hawing and getting estimates, we settled on Scherer Window and Door Consultants. We chose Marvin Ultimate Double Hung windows with aluminum exteriors. 12 of the windows were full replacements with oak sills and trim, 3 were inserts, one was a large plate-glass window flanked by two smaller double hungs, we chose a bay window to replace two side-by-side double hungs in the kitchen, and had 6 pre-finished white full replacments in the back porch. Oh, and we had new Larson storm windows on our enclosed front porch so they'd match the the rest of the house. And a new storm door. I think that's it. Regarding the price, we had gotten a bid from another large exterior remodeling company, and for the same price, they could only do Marvin inserts on all the windows, rather than full replacements. So we felt Scherer's bid was very fair. Dave Wahlstrom was our salesperson. Scherer only provided the windows. They set up subs for the rest. Installation of the windows and new interior trim was done by MDS Remodeling. The wood staining was done by Tenet Painting. The windows that were inserts needed exterior re-wrapping in matching aluminum, and Kevin Johnson of Johnson Family Construction came out on a very cold Saturday to do the work. We wanted to change the wood trim color from blonded oak to dark oak in the entire house, since the kitchen had already been retrimmed in a dark stain. However, it cost way too much, so we decided only to change out the wood trim in the LR and DR. MDS Remodeling tore out trim, installed new trim and stained it. They also re-stained the fireplace mantle and fiberglass front door to match the new wood trim. (Note: Jel'd Stain is a miracle product.) They also used Jel'd Stain on the window trim to match the blonded oak in the rest of the house. The whole project took around 3 weeks, with all the additional interior work and we are very pleased with the outcome. All of the workers we dealt with were polite and hard working. They cleaned up everything nicely and even though it's very very hard to have a bunch of guys in and out of the house for days on end, we are glad we went through with it. I'd say the only gripe I have is that there is a fair amount of adhesive, gunk and stain on the windows, both inside and outside and I'm not sure what to do to get it all off. I'll work on it in the spring.

Gary the sales rep was very knowledgeable, and flexible. We asked him to price four options which he was very happy to do. We asked two other suppliers to provide estimates and he was by far the most accommodating. The installation date was delayed several time on my request and they were totally happy to accommodate. The installation crew was courteous and expert. This was a big window (actually three windows in one frame) and they made it look easy. In, out, clean, as if they were never there – except for the new window.

The crew Scherer hired was Mitch Shepeard and his team. They were very professional, quick, cleaned up afterwards, and very respectful of our house and time.

The picture window area in the living room was considerably enlarged to provide almost a floor to ceiling view of the backyard/pond with a casement window on each side. Lovely! We should have done this years ago.Scherer Window and door showed professionalism every step of the way beginning w/the initial visit and quote thru the one day installation (!) and concluding with fixing a minor issue w/the sliding glass door's lock. Calls were returned promptly. The work was begun and completed as scheduled. The areas cleaned after installation. And there were no rude surprises.Marvin windows are not inexpensive but the quality product we wanted. Scherer Windows and Doors can call us very satisfied customers!

Our houses was built in 1978 with Scherer Brothers windows. Since the mid nineties, I have been taking windows in with failed seals. They have been very accommodating in replacing new panes with just a charge for glass.

Not much to tell. We just had to decide.. That was the hardest. The window is wonderful.

The estimator was very professional and did the bid for us on the spot. We agreed to have them do the work. They came several months later because the windows had be custom ordered for our 1938 house. The installers came and it was snowing. They continued on with the installation and finished in a timely manner. The overall experience was very good and when we need additional windows we will contact them again.

. Excellent service and professionalism by all involved. The staining was done by Tenant painters (contracted out I beleive) and they too were of the utmost quality. Took care to get the best stain color match If things needed attention, they all responded and followed through.

We used high end windows. They work with a great subcontractor. The price was where I expected and the quality was great. They did give us a returning customer discount and we are going to use them again next spring for more window replacement.
