Make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you compare bids. I didn't - and am paying the price.
Description of Work: After my getting a bid from another company saying they would fix all of our parking lot asphalt trouble spots, we went with Midwest Asphalt. Midwest patched our parking lot and the salesman had said that they would get rid of all of the "alligatored" asphalt area that had been damaged by freeze and trucks over the years. When Midwest finished there was still ragged/alligator portions that hadn't been fixed and the crew telling me it was going to cost more to fix them because they had already done more than what the estimate had included on a map of the repairs on our lot that he was doing. It turns out the salesman had left some repair portions of our lot off the keep his bid competitive. No one was on site on the day of our repairs to talk to to resolve my concerns. When I spoke to the salesman, he offered to "split the cost" of finishing the job. I told him no - and as a result we still have parts of our parking lot that are bad because I fell for a bad sales pitch.
