Discovered the leak at 10:30 at night, found Hoagland Plumbing on thde list and gave them a call. As the leak was located just after the meter, I was able to shut the water off, and did not require "emergency service", but I still needed someone early the next day. Spoke to Dana on the phone that night, he indicated they could have someone out the next morning, my reponse was "If it costs, $400 for someone to be here at 7 AM, or $100 for someone to be here at 4 PM, I'm good with 4 PM..." He told me not to worry about it, and that I would recieve a call by 8:30AM. Their office called me in the morning and indicated Josh would be there by 9:30. Josh called at 9 AM and said he was on his way. He arrived promptly at 9:30, and was done with all the work by 10:30. Greta guy, proffesional, friendly, and had everything he needed in his truck. Upon his departure, he said he would have to have the office bill me, as he did not have his invoices with him, but not to worry, It would only be 1hr of labor standard service call, and parts. When my bill arrived, I was plesantly surprised to find out it was under $200, despite the short notice and urgency. Dana Hoagland Plumbing is not in my contacts and will be my first call for any future needs!

After running the shower for a while, our plumber suggested small cracks in the grout were the reason for the leak. He sliced through a section of the grout with a utility knife to help prove his point, but in the end this only made my problem worse.

Response from Dana Hoagland Plumbing Inc
The owner, technicians, and office staff at Dana Hoagland Plumbing Inc. strive for customer service and quality workmanship. Our reputation on Angie’s List, including this report, reflects the type of business that we are – honest, consistent and skilled. Our plumber, Luke, visited this home. As stated, the homeowner was experiencing leaking from his shower. Luke did not cut into the grout, as stated by the homeowner. Luke used his utility knife as a “pointer” to show the homeowner the gaps where grout was missing. At no time did Luke do any cutting of grout or any other surface in the shower. Luke ran water in the shower to investigate the leaking. He could see that the shower tile and grout was very old and in need of total replacement. Luke informed, and also showed, the homeowner all the areas where water was leaking through the missing grout. Luke recommended options to take care of the shower leaking issues: 1. BEST OPTION: Remove the old tile and grout and replace with new materials. This could be done by the homeowner or hired out to a bathroom tile installer. This is really the only permanent way to cure the leaking issues. 2. Patch the areas where the grout is missing. This option is only a temporary fix and will only buy the homeowner some time until he is ready to re-tile and re-grout the whole shower stall with new materials. Because Luke had been running water in the shower, he could not apply any sealant to the gaps where the grout was missing. Moisture would not allow the sealant to adhere to the tile. Luke explained this to the homeowner. Luke told the homeowner to run fans pointing into the shower so the area could dry out. Luke even gave the homeowner a tube of sealant, at no charge, and instructed him to apply the sealant in the gaps once the shower had dried out. Luke told the homeowner again that this was only a temporary fix for his leaking problems. When we make a service call, we charge a service call fee of $135.00. If it is necessary to work past an hour, we charged an hourly rate of $135.00/hr. Luke did not charge the full $135.00 for this service call which he should have done. Neither, did he charge for the tube of sealant he gave to the homeowner. We would have appreciated a phone call from you when you had confusion as to the condition of your shower and the solutions to resolve the leaking issues. We always welcome all calls from our customers. We will be calling you to discuss your shower issues so you can proceed with your repairs. We have been in this business since 1985. We have enjoyed our Angie’s List clientele and all of their valuable feedback. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate this in the future to all of our current and new customers!

My call to them was answered promptly. They were very curteous. Jake arrived right on time and did a great job. I had him fix the faucet in the kitchen which he did right away. He had some time left (given it is a 1 hour minimum) and hence helped fix a leaky toilet as well as change an older toilet seat (I had the new one from home depot, but did not have time to change it). Overall I was very satisfied and would definitely call them again.

The drain on my ancient utility sink had rusted badly, and was leaking water when the washing machine emptied into it. I'd been using another plumber over the last few years, and was less and less satisfied with them, so I checked the list for a high-rated company and chose Dana Hoagland Plumbing. What a fortuitous choice! Dana himself came out to look at my sink, and gave me a very clear explanation of the problem and solution: the drain was built in and could not be fixed or removed for a new drain; the entire sink would have to be taken out and replaced with a heavy-duty fiberglass sink. He did what he could to stop the leak temporarily, scraping off a lot of the rust, and applying epoxy. A little more than a week later the company sent a bid which I forwarded to a contractor who has done a lot of work on my home. He agreed with the problem assessment and solution, and said the quote was in line with market prices. In the office Kathy and Lou handled my phone inquiries very promptly, and were able to schedule my appointment for the day I requested. Luke was here right on the dot, and Jake less than 5 minutes later. They were friendly, extremely courteous, and careful. They asked about removing their shoes, and laid down dropcloths inside and out on my wooden porch steps. They broke the old sink in 2, and hauled it out out of the basement. Then they installed the new sink, copper pipes, a faucet with shut-off valves, PVC drain and trap. When they had finished, they cleaned up COMPLETELY, and even did a quick wipe-around to get up any dust. Luke showed me that they had bolted all 4 legs of the sink to the floor (which is code), how the shut-off valves worked, and pointed out the other pieces that were installed and why. It was a big job and took them a fair amount of time, but the price I paid was exactly what the estimate had been. And I was pleased that I could call the office afterwards and put the whole thing on my credit card - more points toward an airline ticket! While they were here, I was meeting with a furnace sales rep. He told me about one of his customers who had just paid a big-name, big-advertising plumbing company $2000 to have a utility sink replaced, and the old one hadn't even been a behemoth like mine. I feel I was really lucky to find Dana Hoagland Plumbing. I like that they are a family-owned and operated company; the work isn't farmed out to others. I've already been singing their praises to my friends and co-workers, and I will certainly call them again for any plumbing that my home needs to have done.
Description of Work: They removed my old concrete utility double sink, hauled it away, and replaced it with a new laundry tub, faucet, and necessary water pipes.

Luke arrived on time and looked at our problem. He found out the cause and was able to fix it fairly quickly in a professional manner. He also checked out our tub and took care of the slow drain. We didn't expect to pay as much as we were billed and that is why a B was given on the cost.

Mr. Hoagland performed excellent work, was friendly and courteous. I would definitely hire him again for any more plumbing needs and also refer him to others.
Description of Work: I had a toilet to replace and two separate bathroom faucets to change out. Mr. Hoagland picked up the toilet that I had purchased from Menards and changed it out very quickly. He also changed out the faucets. He advised me there was a small mold problem from a small leak and repaired the leak. He also gave me some good advice for keeping the faucet hardware shiny..

They didn’t really do anything. The water pressure was low and he showed my husband that he just had to push the button on the water softener. He charged us $150 for that. I feel that that was wrong. The responsiveness was terrible and he was late. The plumber was more interested in our nice living room was with the television than he was with the work.

The company owner, Dana, visited this member’s home personally. As stated, the homeowners were experiencing low water pressure. Rather than create a fictitious, billable problem – Dana showed the homeowner the simple temporary solution to the low water pressure issue, which was a user-friendly feature on the water softener unit. Dana observed that the water softener was approximately 15 years old, if not older. He explained to the homeowner that they had the option of either having the water softener serviced by a water conditioning company or replace it with a new unit. The button that the homeowner was describing was the “by-pass”. That can be pushed so the water does not go through the water softener but is diverted directly to the faucets. This increases water pressure because the water isn’t being run through the defective water softener head. This temporary solution and the options were clarified to the homeowner. We charged the homeowner our standard service call fee of $135 (not $150 as stated by the homeowner). Our service call includes travel, problem diagnosis, and time with homeowner to discuss the plumbing situation. This price is an industry standard. We have not charged any service charges for this unpaid balance which is outstanding from May 15, 2012. We have made many attempts at contacting the homeowner. We would still happily discuss their water softener issues with them if they so choose. We would also appreciate their response with a payment in full, without finance charges, so we can close out their invoice. Dana also paid this homeowner a brief compliment on their lovely home while walking to the water softener unit. This is the same friendly nature that you will be provided when you contact Dana Hoagland Plumbing Inc. for service. We regret that this particular homeowner interpreted our friendly nature and integrity as bad business practice. We have been in this business since 1985. We have enjoyed our Angie’s List clientele and all of their valuable feedback. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate this in the future to all of our current and new customers!

!I had let several plumbing issues pile up: leaky tub faucet, loud washing machine, and a slow sink drain. I found Dana Hoagland Plumbing on Angie's List. I called and left a message hoping that someone could come out the next day. Kathy called back within an hour. She said that Dana could come out the next day. She suggested that I might want to pick up a new tub faucet that would work with my current Delta faucet in case it needed to be replaced. Dana showed up on time. He spent nearly two hours in my home and was very friendly and professional. I asked him to work on the tub faucet first since my daughter's bedroom is right there and it was almost naptime. He was more than happy to do that. The faucet took only a few minutes to fix and I did not need the new faucet I bought (I returned it later that night). My front-loading washer was very noisy--loud bangs of the pipes as it was filling. Dana suggested installing water hammer arresters that would absorb the shock before it reached the pipes. The cost of the parts were only $32...the result was amazing! Before, I couldn't run the washer while anyone was sleeping or it company was over. Now, I can do laundry any time because the noise is so reduced! Then Dana went to work on my kitchen drain. It was slow and sometimes when I ran the garbage disposal, junk would fly out of the other side of the sink. Dana did several things to address this drain. It does seem improved. As Dana was leaving, I asked his opinion about an outdoor water spigot that had pulled loose from the house siding. Dana looked at it and offered to reattach it with longer screws. All in all, this was a great experience with a plumber!

I had a small pool of water in my basement and called them and got an appointment the next morning. The provider showed up 30 minutes late but did call me to let me know. He gave me a ton of details and showed me ideas of how to maintain so that this problem doesn't happen again. He was there for 1.5 hours but only charged me for 1 hour since he was late. Really nice guy! Loved the service.
Description of Work: I had a small pool of water in my basement. Turns out the drain that has a pipe to the street was pretty badly clogged. Jake couldn't have done a better job on our leaky sink. The connection between our sink and dishwasher was leaking and I couldn't even get the valve closed all the way to stop the leak. Jake was able to replace the leaking valve in very little time. He also suggested that we replace the other cut-off valves on the sink and I was quick to take him up on that because of the trouble I had earlier. He was able to get all of that done in under an hour which was awesome! I will definitely use Dana Hoagland Pluming again in the future!

After our water heater failed on a Saturday afternoon and flooded our basement we purchased a new water heater and my husband was going to install it himself. But time and fatigue got the best of us and Dana Hoagland Plumbing came to our rescue. They came out the same day we called and did a fabulous job. They were professional, prompt, and efficient and as a bonus were also friendly and pleasant to work with. In addition, they were very reasonably priced. I called in the morning and he was able to be there by early afternoon. Very polite and responsible. He covered the carpet where he was working to be sure that there was no mess from the plumbing work. He brought in the snake machine, and worked for several hours trying to get the blockage removed. He even brought in a bigger machine, which finally did the trick. He had to remove the sink in order to get the bigger machine to fit in a small space. After releasing the clog he replaced the sink, cleaned it (!) and picked up. He only charged me for the time that he was actually on the job and not for the time spent getting the bigger piece of equipment. I thought he was very fair. The sink works great now!

Kathy Hoagland was wonderful to work with - professional and quick with answers. I was considering switching out the whole sink and she gave me a lot of information about the scope of the project. In the end, it made more sense to wait until we replace the counter tops and install a new bigger sink then. I appreciate that she understood when in the end I only wanted to do the faucet. Certainly when it's time for bigger projects, they will be the plumber I call! I emailed Kathy a picture of a faucet that would meet our needs, and she had it ready from her supplier in less than a day - saved me a trip to a home store!! Jake did the work - he was prompt, kind, and left everything immaculate. He went above and beyond - he saw that the seal between the sink and counter top was leaking a bit, and resealed the entire sink. I definitely plan on using them again, and will refer people to them.

I was selling my home and getting the last details done before the walk through. I had turned on the outside water for contractors doing work. Little did I know that the pipe had frozen during the winter and ended up leaking into the basement. I called Dana and told him my problem. He had done great work for me when I installed the granite counter tops and the 5 new sinks and faucets and gas grill. I kept his name. He was there the same day! He replaced the faucet and repaired the broken pipe. While he was there he went in the utility room and noticed that one of our two water heaters were leaking, again needed replacement prior to the new buyer coming in the house. Dana gave me a bid and returned to remove/replace the water heater on time as he said he would. A few days later I notieced the second water heater had a small leak around the bottom of the unit. I called Dana, and he came out to look at it. Again we needed another removal/replacement. While he was there he also fixed a leaky faucet we had in the laundry room. He not only fixed it, he replaced it with one that looked just like it that he had "upgraded" for the person before me. It tuned out to be a more difficult fix then he planned on as the custom cabinents interfered with his access to the faucet. He stuck with it and the replacement worked wonderfully. I cant say enough about Dana and his work. He is honest, timely and works to make sure you are satisfied with his job. Plumbers are not cheap, Dana is a master plumber, and a good value. He gets things done quickly. His work and professionalism are amazing. He is proud of his work, which you dont see in many craftsmen today. He gets a thumbs up from us for being there when we needed him and resolving all the issues to our satisfaction.
