About us

D & T Appliance was founded in January 2002 . We started our company with the intentions of providing a professional service experience to the customer; this “professional service” starts with the individual who takes the original incoming call from the customer, answering the call promptly, setting up the service call in a timely manner and then servicing the product when we said we would be there. It seems that this type of service experience was missing from our marketplace as we have since grown to 25 employees. Our company is also the only Nationally Certified Service Center in Minnesota. We specialize in the premium appliances as well as standard appliances. We strive to make sure that every customer is happy and that they want to tell their friends and family about our services.

Technition came out and could not reproduce the problem if set on timed dry. He check venting and all other typical problems but not seemed to be the culprit. He suspected it was a gas valve part he didn't have with him. He said if we continued to have the problem to call back and there would be no charge. He even gave me his cell phone if I had questions. Problem came back on the second load of laundry we did. Called D&T and they had the part needed. No trip charge but still ended up costing about half the price of the dryer originally cost. Guess it's better for the environment to repair than replace so I shouldn't complain.
Description of Work: Dryer was not heating up all the time and therefore not drying clothes.

I called and immediately the their phone was answered by a knowledgeable person, who I concluded was actually a technician because of his ability to troubleshoot on the phone. After I described the problem, he asked a few more questions and suggested reducing detergent and rinse aid settings and cleaning the system with vinegar. If that doesn't work, I should call back to schedule an appointment. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the specific product and his willingness to give me free advice with which I might be able to resolve the problem with no charge. I will definitely use D & T Appliance if I need a service call.
Description of Work: Our Bosch dishwasher was not cleaning well and leaving a white greasy film on everything. Their knowledgeable representative gave me advice over the phone on things to try before incurring the cost of a service visit.

Contacted D&T late Thursday afternoon. Scheduled an appointment for Friday. Was told they would call in the morning before 8:30 AM to give an estimated time of arrival. Technician was prompt, swift, and thorough.

Tech was very professional, worked quickly and honest. He also gave me some advice on the best way to utilize dishwashers and make them run better, longer.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher broke and there was no power to the unit. After pulling it out, checking the outlet, and flipping the circuit breaker in the basement, I called D and T. It took about 10 or 15 minutes of troubleshooting by the Tech, to tell us our front electric panel was shot, and it would cost about $300 to repair it. It wasn't under warranty, and the tech basically recommended us to go out and find a good deal and buy a new one (as it would come with warranty, plus with the economy, there are good deals to be had!!)

They are a company with highs and lows. The highs: courteous, professional, do it right the first time folks. Lows: you have to have your whole day free because they do not tell you what time they will be able to come to you until the morning of your appt. So you have to be available anytime from 9am to 5pm-that's unworkable for most of us who have to be out of the house during the day. My personal experience had additional lows: I had to have two visits and for the second visit, I again blocked off the whole day. I got a call at 8:45am on that day saying that the repairman is out sick and can I reschedule? I was furious that I blocked off a whole day(twice already)and had to do another. So they called me back and told me I could have the early slot(9-11am)on the reschedule day. Fine, but when that day came the repairman called and told me he'd be by between 3 and 5pm! I said that I was promised to be in the first slot and he said he had no notes on that. I called the main number and they said that the repairman was wrong, that there were notes. Later, he admitted that there were notes but he hadn't seen them. Doesn't matter-I had to rearrange my day-for a third time-to accommodate them, when twice it wasn't any doing of my own. They are great when they do get to you, but I will not do this waiting around all day thing for them again.
Description of Work: I had my freezer repaired, as a part went out. I had to have them come twice-once to locate the problem and the second time to replace the part.

I took the microwave to them: they evaluated the problem the same day and called me with the news that they just had to order a new fuse. They thought it would take 10 days to get but they had the work complete in only five days. Great response, great service, great price.
Description of Work: A friend used our microwave as a cooking timer: ran it full blast when empty. It was completely dead when I came home. D & T said they would look at it for a nominal fee.

I scheduled for D & T to come out to repair my dishwasher. They scheduled me 6 days out as their soonest availability. There was no set time for service, just a day. On the day of service, D & T called the incorrect number to let me know when a service tech would be out (No one arrived during that time frame). They then called during the installation time to let me know that no one would be coming (I had to take off work to sit around and wait for no one to show). I then was told that they could come out the following week, making the total turn around time for service two weeks. D & T did offer to come out several days earlier than their second estimate after I voiced my concerns, however, the adjusted time frame was still to far out. I am sure had I waited long enough for them to make it out to complete the service they would have been able to do the job, however, I ended up using a different company that was more responsive.

I called for an appointment and was able to arrange for someone to come out within a week. The gentleman (who's name now escapes me!) was right on time, and very personable. I showed him the state of the dishes, as well as the analysis provided on the manufacturer's repair site. He felt it was hard water, and yet this was a new occurrence. After confirming that the water was excessively hard, he proceeded though to clean the dishwasher and check other possibilities, on the "what if" chance. In the meantime, we contacted the city and learned that they had been doing something over the course of the prior weeks which caused the water to be hard! So, that was the cause for the staining on the dishes after all. The guy from D & T was almost apologetic that he had to charge, but I felt it was warranted for the work he did do, and the advice he gave on new dishwashers, which is something we we will buy eventually.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher was leaving a white, what appeared to be soap film, on our dishes after washing. We literally were having to rewash our dishes afterward.

I called on Monday and the first available service call was Thursday (due to summer vacation schedules). The repairman was very nice. Identified the problem within minutes. Didn't have the part on his truck, but had another van bring it out to him. He was done within an hour (even when waiting to get the part). He called ahead to give me a window of time - arrived right in the middle of the window.

Lousy. The repair man couldn't find the directions. He had trouble getting the trim strips off so that he could work on the microwave. He fiddled around for a while, then told me he would have to come back another day and bring a second repairman to help, and also needed to bring a large piece of equipment so that he could remove the entire unit from the wall and wheel it out to work on it. You don't have to do that - the microwave comes out alone.
Description of Work: I have a built-in combination oven & microwave. The microwave would not heat- everything else worked on the microwave and everything worked on the oven. I needed to have the microwave fixed.

It was a great experience. The food in our fridge had been getting a little warmer every day for a week until I realized something had to be wrong. I called D&T at 8:15 in the morning and one of their technicians was at our house by 11:00. He diagnosed the problem immediately and came back two days later with the replacement parts. They offered to come back the next day, but my schedule wouldn't permit it. At the original visit, the tech got the fridge to a point where is was working well enough to last until they got the parts. Overall great service, especially the quick response.
Description of Work: They diagnosed and repaired a GE refrigerator/freezer that was slowly losing its ability to keep food in the refrigerator compartment cold.

As last time, they very diligent. The heating wire they put in last time to keep a tube from freezing slid out. They put in a longer wire to keep in from happening again and charged me nothing.
Description of Work: Water was draining into the refrigerator from the freezer. They fixed this a year ago and came out and fixed it again.

Called ahead for appointment time window. Called again to come EARLY! When does that ever happen??? Arrived exactly on time, very courteous, very professional and very friendly. Went right to work. Briefed me on the problem and fixed it and then reviewed it with me. Looked at a couple of other things around the house. Presented the bill with explanation. As I paid him, he let me know they service almost all the items he'd seen around the house. Off he went.

The dishwasher was installed before the wood floor was laid so an easy fix became complicated because the tech couldn't remove the unit to get to the hinge. He initially thought he would have to destroy the dishwasher or tear up the floor but he eventually figured an ingenious way to get the hinge back in place.
Description of Work: Reset door into the hinge and leveled the unit.

My refrigerator seemed to be running more often and on one occasion, some refrigerator items were freezing. The D & T technician, Igor, came to the house, ran the diagnostics, and even called Sub Zero to make sure he wasn't missing anything. Everything checked out ok, so if there were a problem, it must have self-corrected. Igor advised I set the refrigerator temp a bit higher just in case. In addition, he showed me how to remove the freezer drawer and waited patiently while I cleaned the area under the drawer, something I'd not done in eight years of ownership! D & T has also serviced my Dacor oven in the past. I'm very pleased with their service.
Description of Work: Checked my Sub Zero OS refrigerator to make sure it was operating correctly.

It took two trips to accurately diagnose, but we are quite happy with the end result. Thank you D & T.
Description of Work: Our Bosch dishwasher was leaking water half way through the cycle, but not every time we ran it. They initially diagnosed it (incorrectly) as a dirty gasket. But when the problem reappeared and we left the machine loaded their tech spotted the problem immediately. The thin plastic cutting boards (Ikea), when placed on the right side of the lower rack, will eventually get hot and flexible enough to plug the air vent on the right side wall of the tub. This caused pressure to build in the machine and eventually force water out the door. The solution was to simply ensure the vent can never be covered. We were impressed with his ability to diagnose an intermittent problem like this.

We had to use D & T as they are the warranty contractor for Warner's Stellian. They came out to our house and diagnosed the problem as a leaky hose. They dirtied quite a few of my towels to clean up the water mess released from the machine (which I couldn't wash). They said said they would order the part and call me when it was in. I told them how much we depended on our machine as we are a busy family with kids in sports. When I didn't hear from them in a week, I called them to check on the status of the part only to find out they hadn't ordered until that day! They sat on our paper work for a whole week!!! I was so upset as it was below zero and I was running loads of wet clothes back and forth from my neighbors house. (I didn't have time for the laundromat). When they came back, they asked for more towels to clean up any water. It took over two and a half weeks to fix when the $9.00 part, once ordered, only took 2 days to arrive. And, why was I left with the mess?
Description of Work: They came out to my house and found a hole in the water tube of my washing machine. They later came out and replaced the part.
