Denny was able to start working on our house in Mid-July. He gave us an estimate to remodel our bedroom and bathroom of $7000, but he called that a "worst-case scenario:" He said that it wouldn't go above that price, but if the price came in less than that, he would charge us the lower price. His contract also included a date that the job would be finished by. Aaron and Fred came over to do the work-- they tore out the old gross carpet from the bedroom and the nasty vinyl peel-and-stick tile from the bathroom, as pulling out the old toilet and vanity. Once they got all of the floors cleaned up, Dallas (the electrician) came and installed the floor heating pads, which included running wires into the basement from our breaker box in the garage. The original guess of two full days to install the floor heating actually turned into two half-days-- a lot quicker than we expected! After the floor heating was installed, Aaron and Fred went back to work replacing the big hole in the bathroom ceiling-- we learned that the shower above the downstairs bathroom had a leaky drain, so they were able to fix the drain before patching the hole and redoing the entire ceiling. Once the ceiling was done, they installed the laminate floor in the bedroom and the tile in the bathroom. They installed a new toilet and vanity, and then came back and sealed the grout and hung the bathroom mirror. In the middle of all of this, Denny came by to install a roof vent that was damaged in a storm back in May. I had called a different company on Angie's List to repair it, but when they learned that the insurance wasn't going to pay for an entire roof replacement, this other company decided they didn't want my business. Denny replaced the vent in about a half-hour. Denny, Dallas, Aaron, and Fred did an excellent job on our basement remodel. Our little boy will now have a bomb-proof floor to play on in his basement bedroom, and it will keep him warm in the winter. The bathroom went from an 80's-reject to something much more fashionable. And Denny threw in the plumbing (the shower drain repair) and the roof vent replacement as part of the overall cost, even though those weren't part of the original estimate. The original estimate: $7,000. The final bill: $7,000. I think we got more that our money's worth, and we will definitely be calling Denny again when we need more work done. You should hire him too if you need work done!
