DBA: K D & Company. DMJ is one of Minnesota’s oldest asphalt contractors. We are a third generation contractor. Our specialty is asphalt, from patching and maintenance to complete excavation for all types of pavement areas. If it is pavable in asphalt, we can install it. Our experienced estimators can help you design your project, as well as coordinate or serve as general contractor on your job with qualified subcontractors if you have a need for concrete, electrical, or sewer.

Description of Work: Complete take up of 250' ? Driveway. Had to add dump truck of gravel - original driveway was built in 1962. Laid down 4" of new asphalt. Took maybe 2 days. That was 2 years ago and the driveway is still perfect. I love it and my neighbor used DMJ because how mine went and looked.

Unfortunately, customer did not follow installation and back filling guidelines per their contract or care packet. We met with and informed customer of what needed to be done with their landscaping (nothing to do with the asphalt installation) and they chose not to follow instructions or directions to protect their investment as advised.

No problems from start to finish.
Description of Work: This was a complete replacement of a fairly large driveway and parking area. DMJ removed the old asphalt, filled and graded with sand/graval, and put down new asphalt. The work was done efficiently and neatly. The driveway has held up just fine over the first winter. I would recommend this contractor.

THE ENTIRE PROCESS WENT WELL AND ALMOST UNEVENTFUL. THE COMPANY GAVE ME A DATE AND WARNED ME AHEAD THAT THE DATE MAY SLIP DEPENDING ON WEATHER. THEY SENT SOMEONE TO REMOVE THE ASPHALT FROM OUR DRIVEWAY ABOUT A WEEK LATER THAN THE INITIAL DATE. IT WAS ANOTHER TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEY PAVED THE DRIVEWAY. I WISH THEY HAD KEPT US MORE UP-TO-DATE. WE SPENT QUITE A BIT OF TIME WONDERING IF THEY HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT US AND WE WILL HAVE TO DRIVE ON UNPAVED DRIVEWAY FOR TWO WEEKS. ANYWAY, OTHER THAN THIS MINOR COMMUNICATION GLITCH, EVERYTHING WENT WELL. THEY DID A GREAT JOB ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE DRIVEWAY LOOKED GREAT AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED.

AFTER RECEIVING A QUOTE FROM ANOTHER COMPANY, DMJ WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS HERE BEFORE THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT AND ALREADY HAD THINGS MEASURED OUT WHEN WE ARRIVED. HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS. THE COMPANY ITSELF HAS BEEN GREAT ON THE PHONE AND THE WORK WAS DONE ON TIME AND BEAUTIFULLY.

Description of Work: WE HAD THEM DELIVER 'GARDEN MIX' FOR OUR NEW GARDEN. WHILE THEY DID DELIVER IT ON THE DAY THEY SAID THEY 'PROBABLY COULD' THEY FORGOT TO CONTACT US FIRST LIKE AGREED UPON. THEN WHILE I WAS MOVING THE DIRT I NOTICED PIECES OF GARBAGE (PLASTIC, WRAPPERS FROM POP BOTTLES) AND MORE ROCKS THAN WE EXPECTED FOR A GARDEN MIX. WHEN I CALLED TO EXPLAIN MY DISAPPOINTMENT THEY TOOK MY NAME AND NUMBER AND SAID SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME SHORTLY, NO ONE DID. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.
