Bill, We certainly understand when personal things come up, but no return calls. We also did pay some body for the inspection - here is a cut and paste directly from a email from Angies List. Lastly, there is an opening inside the attic space - I can go up there and take a picture and post here. We contacted Gunner Insulation in an attempt to try and fix our chilly lower floor. The insulation in the a partially finished room in our newly purchased home was very old. Gunner Insulation was offering a Bid Deal on Angie's List and we jumped at the chance to upgrade to the spray insulation. Bill Dwyer was prompt at getting ahold of us after we purchased the deal and he came over and provided an estimate. After we agreed upon a price we set a date. His team was a couple of hours late with no phone call and we had to call to find out where they were. They arrived with no notice and then we got a call back from Bill. His team worked quickly but on a wall under our back porch they discovered that the buffalo board had been damaged by water to the point that they could not insulate that area and we would have to get it fixed first. We paid in full with a promise from Bill that they would return as soon as we had the repairs made. After we made the repair we called, excited to finish the project as the winter months began to quickly approach. And we called, and we called, and we called. Bill was difficult to reach, did not return our phone calls promptly and when he did he never had any information about HIS company's schedule. He always blamed someone else and promised to have more information and to get back to us on specific day but did not call back. After three weeks he finally set a date but then rescheduled it without even contacting us. We called HIM to confirm, having not heard from him for several days despite his promise to call us to let us know that everything was moving forward. He simply picked a new date and time and acted shocked when it did not work for us. When we first spoke to him we set a very strict after 12pm due to our son's Early Childhood Special Education school schedule. He pressured US to find a way to meet HIS schedule. Finally, we told him we would go to Angie's List to see if they could mediate and then suddenly we had a set time and date BUT it was still at 11pm. We simply called our son in absent to school so that we could FINALLY finish this project. Gunner Insulation worked well until they had our money. I would hate to think what would happen if some kind of problem involving their work came up and we'd have to ask them to stand behind their product. **** Follow Up Response While it did take us a month to finish the repair, other contractors are just as busy as you were and it took that long to get estimates and then for them to complete the repairs. As for "just sprayed over it" this luckily would not have worked as the buffalo board was completely gone and you would have been spraying directly on the back of the metal shingles and then they would have simply fallen off. Following the completion of the repair you could have scheduled us three weeks out and we would have been fine with any scheduled and locked date but you refused to do this, Instead insisting that it was too small of a job and a "waste of gas" to return to our home. So we had to wait for other work to be needed in the area. Our frustration for ANY type of scheduling led us to contact you and notify you that we would be contacting Angie's List which in return DID get you to finally schedule us a time as stated in your response. Angie's List mediation is not a "threat" but a very useful tool that comes with our Angie's List membership. After this you were surprised that we left negative feedback? I am sure there are customers out there that believe that how you treated us is fair and acceptable, but I doubt many pay the annual fee for Angie's List as this is the place where we can finally work together to demand good workmanship and customer service. Thank you for your response however your long voicemail rant demanding we contact you and stating that we are "messing" and with your company having "poor ethics" for giving you a "D" was not appreciated. We are entitled to our opinion of your workmanship and our review is well stated. Many might believe the a D is too harsh and other might believe the D is not harsh enough but by reading our narrative they can decide for themselves. We leave articulated reviews to tell others of our experiences with contractors not to promote or damage companies. Good luck in your future and I hope you take our feedback as constructive and a reason to improve your business practices.

Excellent service & professionalism by the owner & installation workers. The owner called me within the 2 day period that the Big Deal gave. We set up appointment for estimate. It rained during that week, and owner was very good about calling me to reschedule around the rain for estimate. Owner was very polite and listened to what I wanted to accomplish with insulation for attic to meet Energy Audit recommendations. He was quite knowledgeable for what was needed for audit recommendations. After looking into attic and measurements were taken, he explained types of attic insulation and answered all my questions very patiently and professionally. I felt very comfortable talking to him and asking all my questions as a new home owner. I had also already done my homework / research, so was happy to hear his recommendations matched my expectations. Also, I was impressed that he didn't try to sell me the highest priced package. The installation work went as planned, although one worker was a little late in arriving. The owner called me to let me know. There were 2 workers who hopped right to doing the work, no standing around waiting for someone to tell them what to do. The owner had arrived first and he helped make sure things were covered between front door and attic entrance. We had already covered all our furniture, but he still made sure all was well covered. The workers laid down cover over carpeting too. They ran the blow-in hose through bedroom window to ceiling access in that bedroom and up the ladder the 2 workers went, with the owner staying to make sure all went smoothly. Chutes (baffles) were installed first, I could hear hammering / stapling and then the noise of insulation being blown in. I was amazed at how quickly they did the attic and installed the 2 wind turbines. It took about 1.5-2 hrs to do, which was impressive. When the owner saw the workers were doing great, he left and asked if I would call him when the workers were done, which I did. Very quick, very thorough, and no problems since. I looked in attic after workers left - tons of blown in insulation in attic, with measuring tape stapled to every board I could see to show amount of insulation at that point. Batting & scuttle on access door was excellent, scuttle around bathroom fan was awesome. Workers cleaned up the little mess that they had inside. Wind turbines are working great and spinning as expected. I would definitely hire this company for future insulation projects as well as other exterior work we had discussed - gutters, soffit & fascia, siding, and wall insulation. Estimate was right on, no extra charges, plus I was given the $500 off my bill for the Big Deal I purchased ($99 for $500 off insulation). Owner helped me with paperwork for Xcel Energy rebate, and understanding the invoices. We had split the bill into 2 invoices for the Xcel rebate portion and he was happy to do so, had the rebate info filled out & signed for me on day work was completed. Also, the owner allowed me to make 2 payments, about 3 weeks apart, which really helped me out between paychecks.

He said that the deal was not worth it. He then gave me an estimate for 2400.00 that is with the 500.00 discount. I thought that was too high. He offered me another deal that was still too high. I just wanted the deal that I purchased. He told me to get my refund from Angie's List. I feel like it was a bait and switch.

Needed to put insulation in the attic where there was none, having been built in 1926. It was about 1500 square feet of space that need insulation. Bill came out and looked at it in a timely manner and once we decide to do it, he crew was out immediately. They got it all done in 1 day. They made no mess and were great, very professional. I woudl absolutely recommend Gunner Insulation.

The service went well. I paid an additional fee to have more insulation installed. I was not home while they did the service but I was pleased with the outcome. A few technicians came out and completed the job in a few hours. The staff was very friendly and called a lot to keep me updated on the job. I had no problem scheduling the deal and they were flexible with my schedule.

They made sure all of the areas were sealed off as part of the preparation for the spray foam process. The two spray technicians were very quick to answer any questions I had about the process. I pointed out several problem areas that needed special attention and they were able to address my concerns easily. I had a six foot deep hole in my concrete block where the builder had align the block on top of each other. It explained why that corner was always cold and wet. Black mold was forming in that corner for the last 4 years. Once the foaming was completed. The cleanup process was started and completed with the excess foam sweped up and removed. I look forward to winter to see the difference in temperature in the basement. I also had great conversations with the techs while they were cleaning up and learned some helpful information. Overall, I would choose to have this company do additional work for me. As of right now, I am having them give me an estimate on insulating my roof area. Jim McDonald

No work has been performed yet, other than them coming out to provide us with a quote. We are still in the review stage of the quote. From what I could gather, they were punctual and professional.

Bill Dwyer is a very kind and knowledgable man. He was able to schedule an estimate within 1 day of my call. He arrived on time and spent at least an hour with my husband testing temperature and inspecting the attic. He shared his experience with preventing ice dams, and what works best to prevent them. He gave us a competitive bid and then called back an hour later to adjust the bid $500 lower than the first bid. He visited during the process to check in. There were two teams. The first came to apply the foam insulation. They were on time, put down plastic and cleaned up. The only thing that was odd was that one of the men said, "If you hear me swearing, it's because I hate attics." While I totally get that, I thought it was a strange comment from someone who makes a living doing insulation. I didn't hear any swearing at all. The lead on the team looked at our basement and let me know what insulating down there would entail for a future project, which was helpful. The next team arrived within an hour or so to blow in additional insulation. They only use fiberglass insulation, rather than cellulose. Bill explained the mold inhibiting and fire retarding properties of this type of blown insulation, which made sense. They completed the job, and vacuumed. A piece of insulation was left in the yard, but, otherwise, there was no sign they were here. We won't know how well the insulation performs until winter, but I do notice the sound of planes overhead is muted.

Did exactly what was planned and did it very timely. Great job.

It was really well done. They were on time and very honest with me. They informed me that I wouldn't need any instillationand should request a refund through Angie's List. My only concern is that I didn't get a physical copy of my inspection he preformed, but I was able to call them and receive one.

VERY quick response and inspection of attic. Came on the day we requested. Very efficient and professional insulation installers. Solved a problem I had with a tuck under garage area with inadequate insulation. Very pleased with the overall experience. I highly recommend GUNNER Insulation Company.

My first contact was with Bill Dwyer, the owner who came out to give us a bid. Bill is without a doubt one of the best contractors I have ever had the pleasure to work with in 40 years of homeowner repairs. He was right on time and very knowledgeable about what we needed for our job to best suit our needs. He even saved us between $1500 and $2100 compared to two other companies bids, and told us why we didn't need an expensive add on service that the other two suggested for $2000 over their original bids. The appt. was set for Friday morning the 18th of July at 0830. Bill's crew, Doug & Rob drove up about 0820 and explained to me everything they would do and welcomed me to come up and inspect their work as each part was completed. They got started and did all the repairs to the venting, one of which had leaked. Then they spray foamed all the wall plates and all the vents, so we wouldn't have anymore leaks. They completed the job with about 22" of blown in insulation on top of what we had, and they were cleaned up and gone about 1500. They did a great job, saved us some money, and were great to work with. I highly recommend if you need insulation type work, contact Bill at Gunner Insulation, he is great to work with. He even drove out to C*** Rapids later Friday morning, just to make sure everything was going ok. I definitely liked his personable hands on involvement.

Insulated the attic in our home which was built in 1908. During the insulating the ceiling plaster cracked in a few places. Bill was more upset than I was. He was on site during the job and contacted an plaster expert before continuing. He had a guy out here quickly and is taking care of the repair. Bill is such a wonderful person. Probably the most genuine person I have met in quite some time. Bill at Gunner insulation was awesome. He was polite, friendly and enjoyable to do business with. The guys were courteous, efficient and respectful of our home. We felt like we had known them for a long time

Gunner Insulation Company is the best home improvement company I have ever worked with. The owner, Bill, made sure everything went smoothly and went above and beyond to take care of an unpleasant situation that involved bothersome neighbors. The young men who did the work were courteous and thoughtful. They took extra care to be aware of my blind cat, in case he got out of the bedroom. I highly recommend Gunner Insulation Company for any insulation needs, they are fair, trustworthy, prompt. considerate and respectful.

Bill was GREAT! He is a very honest, personable man who provides knowledgable, timely service at a very fair price. I bought a coupon via Angie's List for an attic inspection on July 3rd, Bill (the owner) called me the morning of July 4th (yes he works on holidays) and I had an inspection scheduled for Monday evening (lucky for me he lives around the corner). He came by gave me an honest assessment of what he recommended, very honest he told us what we needed and what we didn't need and was not just there to sell you the most expensive product, in fact he recommended the lesser of the tree because that's what we needed. Due to a cancelation he scheduled us for the next day, showed up as promised and the installation was done in just under 2 hours. He called to follow-up to make sure we were happy with the service and even took the time to advise us about an Excel Energy rebate and provided the completed form, all we need to do is mail it in! I would highly recommend Bill/Gunner Insulation!

John inspected my attic and found numerous issues that may have been causing the ice dam issues I had last winter. He worked with my rental management company and scheduled the work around my renters schedule. I did not need to be involved at all. We worked out a plan to do most of the recommendations this year with a plan to continue the work next year. He also gave me a referral on someone who could repair some of the damage I had on the interior from the ice dams last winter. Overall I would say it was a very positive experience and I will likely use them again.

Almost as soon as I bought the inspection deal, a representative contacted me to set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, the representative, Bill, was on time and was very friendly. He inspected the attic and gave me an estimate for work that he thought would be helpful, but told me he wanted to double check with the rest of the office before giving me a final recommendation. Later in the day he called back to let me know that after discussing the previous plan with the office, they decided that the work we discussed would be unnecessary. He told me that they could redo all of the insulation in the attic for several thousand dollars if I really wanted to, but that the current setup should be fine. I always appreciate it when companies don't try to push goods or services just to sell something. Thanks for giving me your honest assessment!

We had no problems with the company but will not be able to use the service at this time.

Bill came out and did the attic inspection we ordered, fit the appointment into our schedule. He was very thorough in his inspection and had me go up into the attic to see for myself its condition and what he was recommending for us. He gave us several options for improving the insulation and attic airflow, and discussed the pros and cons of each option. The estimates he quoted seemed reasonable to us. We were inclined to go with the more expensive option, but after further discussion, Bill actually recommended the less expensive option as being adequate for our needs. On the scheduled installation day, he and his crew showed up promptly at the appointed time. They were very thorough in laying tarps to protect our house from stray insulation. We all again inspected the attic and discussed the options and settled on our plan. The work crew were very professional, quick, and thorough. They brought in the insulation hose through a window to keep it out of the house as much as possible. When they left, there was not a single particle of insulation anywhere in the house that I could find. They again had me inspect the attic before closing it up. Would definitely have them out again.
