The engineers showed up right on time (early in fact). They cleaned up after looking in the attic and were 100% professional. They even took the time to explain why they came to the conclusion they did.

I needed quick advice on a structural foundation concern, and Complete Building Solutions provided very knowledgeable and responsive guidance and help after hours. I would totally recommend them and plan to use them for repair work in the future.

I contacted a few different companies as we needed the inspection last minute and everyone here was VERY friendly and helpful. Not only could they accommodate us that same day but the inspectors were early and very informative. They walked us around the entire property explaining everything we needed to know - the problems, the likely background and specific details and products we could use to correct. These guys were very friendly and very knowledgeable. Worth every single penny.

CBS Complete Building Solutions was able to send out a structural engineer on the same day I requested it! Stephen Hammill (P.E.) came out, on time, carefully inspected my whole house, and gave me alot of new information about my house which was built over 100 years ago. He was able to find a small access point into the crawl space over the former back porch and figure out and tell me that the joists there went the same direction as in the rest of the basement. That information will be needed as I move towards having an outside, locked access door built, which he also recommended. That way the grade of the ground in there can be monitored and keep any water flow slanted away from the foundation. He said he would send me info on which company would be best for repairing cracks in my stucco that are bigger than 1/4". He suggested I could fill ones 1/4" or smaller myself. The main thing is I am no longer stressing that one corner of my house does not have a solid foundation. He checked for a concete pad under the foundation of the house at that corner and said it was there, but it had been put in above the freeze line. The old porch is made of wood, so the wood is expanding and contracting, depending upon the season. The stucco, which was put over the old porch to enclose and make a small room, does not move at all. When the wood moves, it makes cracks in the stucco. Moisture getting inside stucco is bad for it. Allie in their office was great and prompt, accommodated me easily on sending into to both of my e-mail addresses. Stephen was courteous about using my land line so I could hear better. Their license number and reviews and awards they have received is all right there on their website. Solid company. I was referred to them by a realtor friend who recently used them to start the process of getting some support headers installed at their place. Stephen seemed very interested in his work, gave me very careful time in all parts of the house, recommended some work in the attic too, for problem with ice dams I mentioned.

It went very well. Two engineers came and looked at the outside of the house first, then the inside/basement/foundation. They educated me on how old houses settle, and what kinds of settling are of concern and what kinds are just normal and nothing to worry about. They gave me a list of things to look for and keep an eye on, but overall we were all pleasantly surprised that a 133 year old home was in such good shape. They also came up to the attic and looked at some roof concerns, and took a look at a detached garage to give me some information on whether or not a roof expansion would be possible with the current structural supports. They answered all of my questions and explained things in a way I understood; they offered information above and beyond what I thought to ask about that was useful. One thing I liked (but my realtor wasn't a fan of, tbh) was their friendly, folksy way of talking and relating to me, while at the same time offering professional opinions that were helpful to me.

AWESOME! Found them on Angie's list, sent a request for a quote, they turned it around in less than 24 hours, were at my home within 48 and had a plan drafted for me in letter form 24 hours later. Great experience and highly recommended!

Stephen Hammill was our engineer, and he did a fantastic job. I took notes during the inspection for my own records, but Stephen emailed us a report the next day that covered everything. I would definitely hire Complete Building Solutions again.

Complete Building Solutions (CBS) did structural assessment of my garage roof for the added weight of the solar panels. The report was very quick. I did not get to starting the work until about 6 months later, but CBS has been very responsive in answering additional questions even months later.

Work needed was completed within our timeline, and found the engineering team responsive and very professional.

I found myself in a very difficult first time home builder situation that took a very serious turn for the worse with a negligent contractor. I needed an expert's analysis for what I was being told was, "totally normal on new builds". Essentially, the poorest of quality in construction, many code violations, significant damage to the structure, and zero regard for my concerns. That's when I turned to CBS. I spoke with Rob on the phone who gave me the utmost confidence in using CBS. He had his crew, Curt and Bruce, on-site in just a few days. No small task considering the project is in central MN. I had the initial report emailed to me the day after inspection, confirming my concerns through a very detailed, and thorough analysis, siting specific code violations and building standards. CBS does great work, super friendly and easy to talk to. They listen to your concerns, and address them accordingly. Definitely a team you can trust. A++!

Very professional from the first phone call all the way to getting the report. I called and made an appointment and was pleased that they could come out the following week. Bruce and Curt are professional, knowledgeable and have a great rapport. I was able to ask questions freely and they respected my time and space. I received my detailed report immediately which I forwarded on to my contractor. Pleasant experience! Highly recommend!

Very knowledgeable about the house structure and very detailed in identifying which walls may be load bearing. Once we pulled the walls out, they were exactly right with where they assumed the supports were and the detailed plan they provided to open up the space was great!

I’m in the process of building a hunting shack to replace an old … old … old trailer way back in the woods. Who would have thought the rules would get so complicated for something so simple. There are plenty of good plans out on the internet. The catch is no building contractor will help with the project without engineer approved documents. Rules … Rules … Rules … I finally contacted an architectural firm for assistance. They recommended I contact a residential engineering firm. So I went to the web sites of recommended companies and picked “Complete Building Solutions” (CBS). When I called and explained my situation I was immediately was put in contact with the people who could help. I sent the information I had and what I was looking for. Within a few days I received a set of engineered plans that satisfied the needs of the project at a very reasonable price. What a great company and people to work with …

I called Rob to get advice on a house I own that has a wood foundation. It had received an unfavorable inspection report and I was at a loss as to what to do. Rob went out of his way to educate me on wood foundations, contact the inspecting company, and offer advice. I talked to Rob multiple times on the phone. He told me that he felt he could offer advice over the phone without coming to the house and in doing so did not charge me. He was honest and open in his communication and I value his opinion.

Rob and his team are incredible company to work with. The inspection and reporting were very well coordinated and clear what issues we were experiencing. He certainly has been around the block before and has had the experience to deal with almost every type of situation imaginable with building associations. Rob is very clear in his explanations and explains in terms normal (no construction back ground) terms. Rob has spent the extra unpaid time to come speak with our board, but gone above and beyond expectations! We have been very please to work with a company and owner that truly care for the customers he works with. Plain and simple he cares and wants to do the right thing. I would highly recommend Complete Building Services for any work you may needing to be inspected for correctness or future work! I can't say enough good things about this company!

An appointment was made as I was completing an email outlining what I needed. A quote was given on what to expect. Curt called the next morning asking it he and Bernie could arrive early. They quickly assessed what I needed and I had the specs sent to me before the end of the day. The cost for the services were actually less than what I expected because I could fit them in to an open time slot and I had the original house plans which made the job easier. The specs and instructions given were very clear and easy to follow. I would hire them again without second thought.

I was extremely pleased with their service. My inspection gave me peace of mind in my new home with some past foundation settling and potential water damage. They were extremely knowledgable and quick to identify any possible problems. Fortunately, my issues were far less serious than I originally anticipated. I wish I had used them when I originally purchased my home. They found items that were missed in my original inspection.
