The inspection went very well. Scott had thoroughly inspected the unit prior to our meeting and had clearly identified and explained any items, big and small, he thought should be addressed during our walk through. Scott did have a concern with the rafters in the attic appearing to sag in one portion of the roof, and his recommendation was that it should be examined by a specialist. He had suggested that this may be intended by design, but it would be prudent to have them inspected nonetheless. Upon the specialist's examination, the specialist was very critical of Scott and used verbiage like "very obvious", "should not have even been noted as any sort of issue in the inspection report", and "Attic is in 'good' condition (contrary to the poor rating in the inspection report)". In my opinion, this was unfair criticism and we are happy that Scott had identified the sagging rafters and a potential issue. I am in favor of erring on the side of caution, as I believe all home buyers should be. In the end, it was exactly as Scott had suggested previously, anyways. For any additional matters (not pertaining to the physical inspection itself), Scott was a consummate professional. He was punctual, proper, polite, and prompt. He was on time, returned/answered calls in a timely fashion, and respected the unit (boot covers, not invasively handling any contents of the unit, etc). Scott had his full report completed for us the same day, which was integral to our quick turn around time with our purchase agreement. The pricing was on par with the competition. In summary: I would certainly recommend Castle Home Inspections to others and had a very good experience with Scott as our inspector. The only blip on an otherwise spotless scorecard is due to the specialist's disagreement with Scott's analysis. However, I would not allow it to deter me from referring others to Scott and Castle Home Inspections.
