Issues with new window leak after they replaced siding. Took over a year from my initial notification of the new leak for them to remove siding and investigate problem. They said old leak and exterior wall damaged from leak. Not sure how their crew hung the house siding if the wall was wet like they said. They said they would give us a bid to repair and no follow up for 2 months. Left a piece of siding off my house that whole time. Do not recommend.

Response from Northland Home Exteriors Inc
We thank you for trusting our company to do the work on your home and are sorry that you are not happy with your experience. We know that can be frustrating. The leak you are talking about is coming from an improperly installed deck. Proper flashing was not installed under the patio door to divert the water from the house. Water is getting into the wall under the patio door. Since you told us that this was a new leak, we added additional caulking around the exterior window to see if that would fix the leaking issue. After a short waiting period, it seemed to be the answer. We then replaced the wood around the interior of the window. Water was noticed again. We removed the siding and deck boards around the patio door. That's when we noticed the improper flashing for the deck. We contacted a deck installation crew who sent a bid for repair. He sent the bid again after you alerted us that you did not receive the initial bid. Again, we are sorry that you felt our services were not up to your standards. Please contact us if we can be of any further assistance. We can try to help you find a deck repairman who might do the repair for less.

They did a really good job. Oh, my God, the price was really good! I checked with a few other places and their price was pretty darn good. It was really good. They listened to what I said, they got my windows done really fast. They cleaned up everything afterward. When they did my Soffit Fascia gutters they did that really quick. It looks good.I haven't had any problems with it. I have still have to think about the fact that I'm still getting ice dams because not one company listens to me.I talked to him about, and he said this is the way things are this, is the way this should be.I'm like okay, Obviously you're not going to listen to me I'm gonna have to tear it down and do it the right way myself. They were right on time every time they were supposed to be here. They were very good. They explained to me what they were doing and how long it was going to take them. If they had to run and do something they would say okay, somebody messed up, we forgot this piece, I gotta go back and get it.It would take them about 30 minutes there, back and we'll still have it done today.
Description of Work: They replaced my living room windows and then they did my Soffit Fascia on the front and driveway side. They replaced the gutters, downspouts and all of that.

Chris came out wiith all the info. on all windows they sell. He was very nice and professional. I have 8 windows plus 1 picture window. He said the cost would be $17,464.00 but if I did it in the winter (which I did not want to do) he would give me a discount down to $15,717.60 inlay windows double pained with trim. I asked if that included the trim needed to match the house. He said that would cost more. By the time I added it all up it came to the $17,464.00 that he originally quoted and I still had to do it in the winter. I checked around and decided on a different company. I did not have to do it in the winter, it was a better window, I was able to get an oak interior picture window stained to what I wanted at no extra charge for $12,863.00. Chris from Northcountry said he could match the color of trim I wanted, but the company I ended up choosing would match my trim and do all the windows for around $14,213.00 using a different company to do the trim in the color I wanted and do it all around the house to mach the color including garage door frame door frame, the piece below the door and all the basement windows. The company doing the trim also said they would paint the area above my door that included part of the house at no extra charge. I also could have everything done in the spring when I wanted it done So I decided to go with a different company as mentioned for $14,213.00. Nothing to do with Chris he seened like a nice person.i
Description of Work: Came out showed me different windows and all there features. I was going to go with him but found a better window for much less and I did not have to do it in the winter to get the savings.

Everyone was very professional, and the work looks great. Only issue was the installer made a decision that we did not need flashing in the area we requested it, flashing was required and it took a couple of days to get the installer back and rectify it. During that time was kept up-to-date on what the progress was on getting the installer back.

We received a cold call from Northland Home Exteriors some months ago, and I hung on to their information. When I called to get a quote on window replacements, salesman Frank Calistro came out to see us. He showed us the quality of the Preservation windows that Northland sells, took some measurements, talked about our options, and left a Preservation brochure. He said that someone would stop by to take a look at our window to determine whether we would need to replace the entire unit or if we could replace just the lower portion. Frank did not give us a quote at that time but said that he would get back to us after his guy looked at the window. He called us on April 2 and stopped back to see us on April 3, providing a price on vinyl windows with triple pane glass. Although the Preservation windows seemed like they would be high-quality vinyl windows, after meeting with the Renewal by Andersen sales person, we decided to stick with Andersen windows. Renewal by Anderson has replaced a sliding deck door and a sliding bedroom window in our house. We are happy with their windows, which they promote as being made of a better quality material than vinyl. I called Renewal by Andersen on April 3. They sent a salesman out on April 4 and he was able to give us a price on the spot. We had no serious complaints about Northland, but my wife and I both felt that the Andersen presentation and sales process were more professional, and we appreciated that the salesman could give us a price right away. Because we had some provider problems in our previous home, we just felt more comfortable going with a known provider like Renewal by Andersen rather than take a chance with a new provider.
Description of Work: Quoted us a price for replacing one sliding window unit with a circle top window above it and one other sliding window unit.

We haven't gotten back with him, and that's our fault. He has his quote ready for us, and we just kind of dropped the ball out. He came out, and we met with him. We asked all of the right questions we thought. We also talked about different things that we could do. There were rooms that are kind of bad at our house, because we've been in this house for about 19 years. The previous are kind of a three season porch-type room, and turned into a four season addition to the house that has kept these gigantic windows. We're trying to figure out how to replace them. He gave us several options, and he called us for the quote within a week to ten days. However, we've never been able to come back to him. When it comes to responsiveness, they were quick to get back to us and come out when we contacted them. He worked up the quote within the time frame that he said he was going to.

We Received a cold call to see if we would be interested in replacement windows. Our kitchen windows were BAD. (1/2and quot; gaps/cold kitchen in the winter) We decided to go for an estimate. The reps were very nice, we rolled soffSoets and facia into the deal and they were very helpful in lining up financing for the whole job. so off we go. The fellow that came out to measure the windows (they were bay windows) told me that the extention would not be as deep as the exsisting windows, I was ok with that, as the old window extended 21and quot;. While they were building the windows the soffet and fascia guy showed up to do his work. The work is beutiful! the apperance of my house is improved significantly. BUT,! while he was here, he told me at least six times that to do the job right, I should reside at the same time. I agereed that and quot;that would be the right way to do itand quot;. I answered the first time that he brought it up, that I could not afford to re-side. But he continued on about it. I felt uncomfortable. But wait.... there is more. When the windows showed up, they only bumped out 9and quot;. Less then 1/2 the depth that we had in the old windows. Even the guy that wrote up the original quote had a shocked look on his face when he walked into the yard. I did not dislike the windows, but the initial shock was a lot. We negotiated an adjustment in the price, and like I side we do like the windows. What I felt about this process of settlement, was that it didn't feel like Northland really took a lead in and quot;making it rightand quot;. During the install, one of the panes was broken. No problem, it happens. It was 3 weeks ago. No one has updated me on the status, or contacted me, or RETURNED a call to update this customer on the progress...even if there is no progress, a phone call goes a long way. That is why I can't give this company a better rating. I was raised in a family business and over 45 years ago, my father said to me every chance he had, and quot;If you're going to do it, do it rightand quot; and he defined and quot;rightand quot; as, and quot;doing something as you were going to make it, or use it for yourselfand quot; Thanks Dad!!

The roofing and siding were replaced after a storm. Unfortunately the roofing was replaced four years prior due to a hail storm and Northland fixed up the shabby job the previous company did. They took pictures of the roof to show me the poor work and dealt with my insurance company for all the repairs. The work was always checked up on by supervisors and they were always communicating with me. The brick wall was to be a repair job but the guys that came out suggested going over it with stone and it turned out gorgeous. Very nice workers, worked all day and did a great job cleaning up.

Evening cold call claiming follow-up to my call to them a few years ago (possible). Salesman on the phone claimed he was going to be in my neighborhood, at a local hospital, the following day and could swing by for an estimate on two small windows. Stated there would be no pressure and I could just keep the estimate to compare it with others when I was ready to proceed. The next day two very high pressured salesmen showed up (late) with a massive presentation and right away thought I should get all of my windows done. Felt very disrespected by both of them. One of them wandered the house while the presentation was going on. When I mentioned the phone call, they said it was someone else and they had inherited all the calls for the day. Very deceptive and had to get up off the chair and walk towards the door to get them to leave. Awful experience!

It took three months from the time we agreed until they were installed. In fact I made the first payment before they were installed. Plus the installers got mud all over my carpet.
Description of Work: Took way too long for the installation to happen. The price was way to high. The salesman made me sound stupid for not replacing my windows and siding. We just went with the windows because they need it done really bad and we were trying to sell our house. The windows still have moisture. Not happy with the whole process.

I thought they were just going to measure my windows and give me an estimate. Instead, they talked to me for over an hour. They kept talking, bringing in props and talking to me about my entire house, not just my windows. I continued to feel pressured to buy and they wouldn't give up. It was so close to the point that I almost had to get rude with them to have them stop. On another note, I brought them into my dining room and while the one guy continued to sit and talk to me, the other got up and left at three different occasions to do measurements around the house, not telling me where he was going.

Unfortunately, I cannot really report any work performed by this company. I spoke with a representative on a Friday when their main receptionist was gone. I didn't hear back from them, so called again that next midweek. She stated that she would get someone in touch with me about an estimate. That's the last I have ever heard from them. I must admit, I certainly didn't expect that response from a company located only about 4 miles from my home.

Well unfortunately we do not do exterior painting nor do we have any offices in Tennessee. After verifying with our receptionists, I was not able to find any record of (member's) call. If I had known about his call I certainly would have returned his call and clarified what we do to save him further frustration or perhaps offer him some referrals to painting contractors that we use and know are reputable. Perhaps this might be a case of mistaken identity.

I was very happy with every phase of this large job. Chris kept me informed at every step of the process. Every workman involved was proficient, communicated well, and showed pride in both their work and satisfying me. From the dumpster delivery man to the 2 man crew that did the windows and doors, the 2 man crew that did the siding, the painter and the handyman, every one was a pro. As with any job this large there were problems, from the wrong color downspouts being delivered, a tough fit on one of the entry doors, and the weather getting in the way of painting. Chris took care of all these problems in a manner which made them appear minor. I recommend this company with no reservations. I wanted a company that would minimize my worry about those horror stories that come with a project of this size. Northland Home Exteriors was just that company.
Description of Work: When Chris first approached me, I told him I was looking for a worry free project. Before talking product and price, I'd like to see his work & talk to his customers. The next day he came back with a list of nearby customers who had similar projects completed. I had found a salesman who listened!!! I had got bids from 2 other companies. I was happy with all 3, bids were competitive, & all had good reputations. I interviewed 2 previous Northland customers who raved about the quality of Northland's work & professionalism. Chris installed vinyl siding on house & garage, removed 12 & installed 10 new windows (eliminated garage window, replaced 2 small windows with a slider), removed & installed 2 entry doors & 2 storm doors, painted garage entry door & service door and house front railings. Removed & installed 2 new outside lights. Removed & installed light on front lawn & covered lamp post with vinyl. Wrapped all doors and windows. Replaced downspouts.
