They did a great job! We contacted them with our request for a quote and received the quote the next day! When the work was performed it was done on time and exactly only budget. The trim now looks brand new and is painted perfectly. Thank you so much!

Staci and her crew are fantastic. Staci was super responsive in letting me know they could help, getting back to me with my questions and nailing down a day/time to do the work. When Ty arrived to do the work, he was very friendly and eager to help us out with the various things we wanted to get done. He wanted to do what was right, providing me with the various options and helping me understand the pros/cons of the various solutions. One of the tasks took way longer than he expected, but he powered through, finished the job and we're very happy with the results. Ben showed up in the afternoon to help finish things up and he was also very courteous and professional. He also provided me with some ideas on other projects and was quick in delving an estimate in the mail a few days later. I will absolutely hire these guys again in the future. Very kind people and they absolutely know what they are doing. Give them a shot!

I have found the perfect handyman.....honest, hardworking, focused, knowledgeable! Finally, after all these years! Ben was on time and completed the work in a very timely manner. He kept me informed and cleaned up when he was finished. I would not hesitate to hire him for any work around my house....outside and inside. Also, his wife was always so helpful on the phone and very friendly.

Staci was very kind over the phone in her tone, however, she misunderstood the details of what I said right from the outset which changed the direction of the conversation. It wasn't until further into the conversation that I realized that she didn't hear me say "the buyer's inspector". Since Brooklyn Park does not require a city inspection to sell a house, I have been very careful to let people know that this is the buyer's inspector that said this work needs to be done. She sounded preoccupied and did not hear this. Also, I was talking over a speakerphone which was the only room at work I could get in order to have a private conversation. She was consistently talking over me, so I raised my voice a little at one point, thinking she couldn't hear me. At that point, she very kindly threatened to hang up, saying "I can tell that you are getting worked up so I am hanging up the phone now". I was pretty surprised, but I responded kindly by letting her know that I was on a speakerphone and wasn't sure if she could hear me. She calmed down and listened for for a bit, then interrupted and said they wouldn't be interested in the work because since the city inspector had requested this work to be done for the buyer, there were certain laws that would need to be abided by and she said it wouldn't be in their best interest to do the work. I was pretty stunned at this point, but I let her know that the city of Brooklyn Park does not require a city inspection to sell a house, that this was actually the *buyer's* inspector. At that point she offered up that their schedule was booked until the middle of October. In the end, after she let me know their schedule, I said that I appreciated her letting me know and that I was unable to wait that long. She then said 'ok, goodbye' and hung up. The whole conversation was very cordial, but very odd. I don't think she was plugged into the conversation or listening to the details, yet she came across very convinced as to what can or should be done and was cordially combattive. Her reaction was very telling as to how they would do business if any difficulty was even perceived - rightly or wrongly. Due to how she handled this misunderstanding, I would not recommend anyone to do business with this company.

I appreciate that you called to give Handy Rite a chance to discuss your job! I’m sorry if the conversation seemed odd. You were very hard to hear at times, broke-up mid sentence and at other times it sounded as if you were yelling. Once you explained you were on speaker phone, it helped to understand why the conversation seemed so awkward and choppy. Right from the start, I stated that we were booked solid. I did not state that it meant into October because you stated that you didn’t know if you actually wanted the work done and just needed an estimate within 2 days to pacify a potential buyer. I then told you that we couldn’t even get to an estimate that fast. Knowing this information, you started asking for my opinion on what the inspection report said. I knew it was the buyers inspection but I explained my only experience was with city inspections and that I know they would require you to put in a ridged dryer vent and went into the reasons and safety behind it. That is when it seemed if you were yelling at me and stated that this had nothing to do with a city inspection. I told you it might be best to contact your real estate agent for advice if you really didn’t want to make the requested changes. At that time, you said they were also asking to have electrical outlets changed over to GFI outlets. I explained to you that we were a remodeling contractor and that the state of Minnesota requires an electrician for this type of work. You became very upset with me and told me again that this had nothing to do with the state. I reminded you that our license is with the state and we need to follow their rules. You then asked if we could do the work and then you would tell everyone you, the homeowner, actually completed it. I told you that would be unethical and that we would need to pass. At that point, I was uncomfortable with what you were asking of us, I stated we were out into October anyway and I gave you the contact for a company, also on Angie’s List, I thought would be able to help you better. It sounds like just a lot of misunderstanding. I apologize for that! Good luck with the sale of your home.

The house had some damage from burst pipes, so the ceilings in some rooms were very rough. Ben and his Team assessed the damage, procured the materials (I provided the paint and primer), replaced the drywall where needed, did all of the taping, mudding, and sanding/mudding/sanding - until the walls and ceiling were truly perfect. They then applied primer and two coats of paint to the walls and ceiling. They were careful to tape the window and door woodwork. They even did a small bit of touch up on the areas that they felt were not perfect (they looked great to me!) The end result- the rooms look far better than I had hoped- really stunningly smooth and straight. They finished the job on schedule and for a very fair and reasonably price. As my home renovation progresses, I will call upon Ben and his Team to help with the rest of the work. Honest, professional, and a nice guy to boot! Every member of his Team was pleasant to be around. They were respectful and friendly. Ben's drywall guy is a true artist!

I have no way of knowing what happens in there family. I am truly sorry for the incident that had happened to their child. According to your messages, you called the office phone on 5/22, 5/23 and then again on 5/27. I called you back on 5/28. On our office phone outgoing message it states that we are unavailable and to please call Ben at 763-350-6701. You never once called Ben who did have his phone at the hospital and was returning calls as fast as he could. I am sorry you’re upset but no matter what, family comes first for us. We couldn’t control that our son had an accident and needed emergency surgery at Gillette Children’s. He was actually in surgery at the time of your first message. Believe me, I wish I would have been in the office to answer your call instead. I think your review is very hurtful and I can only hope when you have struggles that people show you more compassion than you have shown us. Yes, we care about our customer’s and will give hugs as needed, but one only has to read the rest of our reviews to know that we also offer professional, honest, quality work. Ben has worked so hard for the wonderful reviews he has and takes so much pride in his work but being a dad will always come first. Thank you, Staci Skowronek

Ben did a great job. He installed the outdoor light and cleaned up after. He repaired the walls after moving the shelf and cleaned up the area. The repair of the wall required removing nails and patching the holes. The front door is requiring scraping off of old paint. Ben did a good job and cleanup. I have scheduled another point to finish up the project.

Ben was on time and was very pleasant. He proceeded to install the ceiling fan. He had to cut the hole In the ceiling a bit larger to fit the new fan/light. When he told me he was going to need to buy a section of vent pipe to convert from 3" to 4" vent I offered to run that errand so that he would not be interrupted. I was very pleased with the quality of Ben's work. I had not paid attention to the time as my husband had been in construction and my experience with him indicated that it would not take more than three hours to complete those tasks. I was taken back when Ben said I owed him for an additional hour at his regular rate. I paid the extra hour without comment. In the future I will get a written quote before I hire anyone.

It went great. Ben had come and given me an estimate and set up a time to do the repairs later in the week. He called when he thought that he was going to be late and then called again later to let me know where he was and when he might arrive. There was also great email communication with Staci, Ben's wife, in passing information back and forth. They honored the 10% Angie's list discount and also their 10% senior discount (20% total) on labor, charging just the one-hour minimum and for the materials. It was a good experience and I would recommend Ben.
Description of Work: Reinstalled grab bar in bath tub and towel bar that had fallen off the wall. Ben bought a board to coordinate with my other woodwork and anchored it into the wall over the hole in the drywall where the towel bar had been. It is much sturdier and a much more permanent fix than patching the drywall and trying to reattach the towel bar into it would have been. He also allowed me to watch what he was doing and explained it to me and answered all of my questions in case I would want to try to do anything similar in the future.

Ben called ahead of the scheduled time to alert us that he was running late because of the weather. He gave us a new time (1 hour later) and was at our front door at the exact time promissed. We reviewed the scope of the project, and Ben started immediately. It was obvious that he knew what he was doing and how to efficiently get the job done. He quoted 3 hours and was completed slightly ahead of schedule. He asked us to checkout the job and wanted to make sure we were satisfied. He completely cleaned up the debris from the job. Ben is professional, skilled, friendly, has a great work ethic. I WILL have Ben do other projects for us. I highly recommend him. (He even tolerated our dog "trying to help").

Ben removed old, cheap, flimsy wood paneling from half a flight of stairs. He then added insulation and installed tongue and groove paneling I had chosen ahead of time. The job took longer than originally thought due to unexpected materials that needed to be demolished with the removal of the original wall. | |Ben also patched up some sheet rock in the basement. | |Ben will return to finish up. He was very thorough in his clean-up as well as in explaining why the entire project wasn't completed. He was happy to answer my questions.
