Overall, the window-storm door-trim project was quite successful, but not without snags/problems. The first snag arose after I reminded Jaymey that the window openings on the south side were to receive the double hung windows. Jaymey immediately stated the instructions to one of his workers, who about a half-hour later (after Jaymey had left to check on another project) began to install a sliding window on the south side. Nonetheless, I spotted the mistake early, so that turned out okay. (It pays to keep a close eye on things.) The second snag arose from defective caulk. As I planned to paint the interior trim, paintable caulk was needed between the joints. However, a bad batch of caulk proved not to be paintable (save for one tube). I complained and Jaymey sent out an employee. The employee looked at the absence of adhesion and said that the interior trim was vinyl. I told him that it was wood. When he was convinced that it was wood, I said that the easiest fix was to replace the interior trim. He said that he was not comfortable with that and left. Nonetheless, after I spent several hours sanding off the caulk from the wood surface, the window installation turned out fine. The next snag was in the placement of the door handle-lock fixture in the storm door to the back yard entrance. Apparently, measurements weren’t taken prior to installing the fixture with the result that the plunger could not be engaged by using a key on the outside. Jaymey sent out an employee with a saw to shorten the plunger. After he shortened it and after I spent about 30 to 45 minutes filing down the sharp edges, the storm door installation too turned out fine. Another shortcoming was a string of quite noticeable scratches on the front entry door. My wife said that they were not there before work was done on the outside storm door. Nonetheless, the front door had some minor scratches from Christmas wreath decorations and likely should be repainted anyway. Finally, there was a blotch of something on one of the screens, quite irritating at the time, but weather apparently has removed it. So, overall, everything turned out not badly, in fact, quite good. I like Jaymey. Although most of his crew seem to me not to be overly endowed with talent (JC is an exception, he seems quite capable), if you keep a close eye on things, the work should turn out okay. With this caveat, I would recommend Dornbusch Construction. I also should remark that I may have Dornbusch Construction do more work in the future. I should also add that Jaymey always returns telephone calls and has a pleasant manner.

First of all, Jaymey put us into his schedule though he was very busy. That was greatly appreciated because we needed it done at a particular time when we could get the waterproofing vendor to do their part. Jaymey did a great job so that The bathroom looked like new. He even made the floor tiles look as though they were original. He has great attention to detail and does a great job with everything he does. It is very nice to have a contractor who doesn't only do what you request but can see additional work that is needed and suggest ways to fix. He doesn't apply pressure but offers good suggestions. I have used him before to renovate my basement, replace windows, ... and would use him again anytime.
Description of Work: Removed toilet, mainland cabinet, and baseboards and other wood trim so waterproofing drain channel could be installed in new bathroom. After waterproofing done, reinstalled sink and toilet, refinished and replaced baseboards and trim, and fixed and replaced wallboard and tiles which were damaged or removed when drains wer installed. Also painted walls so it was not possible to tell the walls had been patched. In addition, Jaymee replaced trim all around the doors to the garage and the shed. He had good ideas to repair some of the other areas where the wood was rotting. He added a pattern to the shed doors so the rotting was removed and covered.

It went really well. They arrived on time, cleaned up their mess and were very detailed to ensure everything was done correctly. They even made sure we understood what and why they were doing something so that we knew what to expect when later finishing the deck ourselves. Very good people.

The wood on many of the existing windows was starting to rot so we had them all replaced. The new windows were out in and new inside frames were made and stained. We told him the wrong color of stain accidently because we had two cans of stain from the existing picture window and we picked the wrong one. He already had one window done when we realized this. Two other widows were too lig. He had the two light windows resanded to remove the stain and restrained em the right color. He actually rebuilt and replaced the frame of the dark stained window and stained it properly even though it was our fought. It all looks great and we love the new windows which not only work well, but we don't have to worry about rotting. All the windows wee put in on the same day so we didn't have any overnight time without windows. The work was good quality.
Description of Work: Replaced all upstairs windows except main picture window with vinyl windows that are much easier to open and have easy access for cleaning. D

Jaymey was great to work with and had excellent communication. A good part of this renovation was done while I was out of state and yet I felt very comfortable with what was being done. He was full of great ideas and always had a way to get around the problems we encountered, which were many as most of the previous work in the house had been a previous owner's do-it-yourself work. I was amazed at his patience as he worked to make sure I was happy with the work. The quality of his work is outstanding. I knew what I wanted to do, (make one big room from the shopped up room already existing, redo existing very minimal poorly designed and cramped bathroom with only small shower and sink, and add toilet and storage, and add shower to bathroom upstairs) However, with Jaymey's input, the design became so much better. There were all kinds of pipes hanging down taking up space, the lighting was terrible, there was no storage. There was a water softener, water heater, oil drum, taking up space that are now hidden along with the additional storage area. The upstairs bathroom had only a tub and was very small and cramped. Because of Jaymey's expertise and willingness to work with me I now have a beautiful carpeted basement, with one great room, a bedroom with an egress window, a laundry room with a laundry table and a cabinet for storage, and a beautiful bathroom with cabinets for storage, a heater and blower, toilet, and a large beautifully tiled shower, and new windows. Upstairs the door was changed to make more room, the window was replaced with a vinyl window so that we could have a shower without worrying about getting the wood wet, the walls were tiled around the tub and up high so a shower could be added. All the hardware was replaced and everything was painted. We had to have major plumbing and electrical work done as part of this project and Jaymey found excellent contractors for thisproject. I would be happy to work with this company again as I believe they do everything to make sure the customer is happy and their work is really quality. I could not be happier.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of basement, adding full bath and exit window for bedroom. This included completely rewiring the entire basement and redoing plumbing, removing oil heater and preparing for new central heat and air, changing windows, removing room air conditioner and patching wall, making shutters on outside to hide hole. In addition, renovating upstairs bath and adding shower and vinyl window.

I found them to be highly professional and knowledgeable. We are extremely happy with results and have them do future construction jobs that we may have. They went above and beyond expected services and we are enjoying our new porch, and other work they performed.
Description of Work: Fixed problems made by other contractor (R & E Custom Const.) on deck and built 3 seasons porch over existing deck. Also fixed construction problems in both bathrooms we had remodeled.

We had been taken by bad work done by R & E Construction. Lucky for us, we found Dornbusch Const., hired them and they do wonderful work. Their work is beyond perfection and we would use them again and again. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Reinforced a badly constructed deck to add an enclosed 3 seasons porch. Fixed tile work also done badly by former company, in both bathrooms, plus some small jobs.
