Dryer Vent Wizard of St. Paul

Mark Hein did a great job of cleaning the vents and explaining to me what needs to be done to keep the venting in working order. He came out, saw what needed to be done, gave me the cost and then proceeded to complete the work. He was professional and very knowledgeable. I would definitely hire this company again.

We chose Dryer Vent Wizard even though their pricing for the "Big Deal" was a little higher than its competitors. We did so after having read in reviews that, while the competitors would do a very quick job on the vent (under 10 minutes), Dryer Vent Wizard would take the time to do thorough work. Our observation of the reviews was proven correct. He was with us for about 45 minutes, taking apart the vent, inspecting, and cleaning the vent carefully. It appears that our vent had never been cleaned before, and this required some additional work costing $39 on top of the Big Deal price. We did not mind this. The work was thorough, and we can tell that our dryer is working much more effectively now.

We bought the $99 Big Deal for dryer vent cleaning. The guy who came out was very friendly and courteous, and took his time with the work. Our vents were in poor condition and may not have been cleaned since the house was built 26 years ago. They were definitely a fire hazard. They also had fallen apart and needed to be repaired. We ended up paying an extra $150 for the repair, which is a good deal compared to other companies. I would recommend this company for dryer vent cleaning and repair.

We got an initial bid from Mark who had cleaned our vent earlier in the summer and who had said that we could wait on having the dryer vent replaced. Our dryer was working fine, but we went ahead to have a new dryer vent installed because there were cracks around the ceiling where the dryer vent goes through the roof. When Kevin pulled out what was in place to vent the dryer, he wryly said, "Handyman work." I got a chuckle out of that and sent along a picture of the mess of duct tape, insulation, and tubing that had been in the attic. THEN my husband admitted he was the one who had done the installation! I about died. He does do some things very well, such as earn a living for our family. He has done some serious work around the house, including laying down tile throughout the downstairs entryway. It NEVER occurred to me that anything he would install would look so bad. We have been going around and around for 20 years about what to do about that vent. A handyman and a Sears installer had recommended venting to the front of the house. It didn't seem like such a good idea to have a dryer vent right next to the front door. Meanwhile, I was concerned about fire and damage to the house with a leak in the dryer vent. I am frankly relieved. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! PS. Mark gave the initial bid, and Kevin did the installation. The estimate was $721, but the actual cost was $581.

There was some miscommunication between the vendor and me. Because of that, they needed to send someone in short notice to my house on the same date I thought they'd come. I really appreciated that level of responsiveness, even when the issue was not really their fault. Now, the project: I was aware that the vent was not working properly, because there was a lot of lint being pushed into the house, that accumulated behind the dryer. He came (only needed one person), evaluated what was going on, explained to me that the vent hadn't been properly installed (who knows how long ago), and what he needed to do to install it correctly. It seemed straightforward, and he have me the impression that he knew what he was doing. All in all, it took him a little under one hour. A month later, there is no lint behind the dryer, so seems like it was properly installed; I'm happy with the outcome.

They found that there was something stuck in the vent that would have caught on fire if they had not taken it out.

They replaced my dryer vent and the tubing. They were responsive, and worked quickly and efficiently. I would not hesitate to use them again.

They were very helpful about advising me on how my venting should be changed to meet code -- I only wish they could have done that work too.

I called Dryer Vent Wizard on a Friday asking for an estimate for a dryer vent that I needed added to the outside of my house. The gentleman that I spoke with was very informative and took the time to walk me through things that I need to think of and the type of work that they do so that I could have the work done for a reasonable price. We set an appointment for the following Wednesday. I ended up canceling the appointment because I had a friend who was licensed to perform the work sooner. Even though I did not have work done with this company, I would look to use them for future dryer vent work because of the diligence that they took to make me feel comfortable in working with them.

He arrived on time, cleaned out the dryer vent in a timely manner, and was friendly and professional. I would absolutely recommend this company to a friend.

They were very efficient. I had no complaints. No additional cost. Everything went perfect. I would use them again.

Very prompt response to service request. Technician, Mark, was very fast, almost too fast (and he admitted that he's heard that criticism before). The price charged, $227, was for about a half hour's worth of work, half of which was cleaning out the dryer unit itself. I thought the price was a little high because the base price was $151 plus a $39 "service fee" plus $25 to clean the dryer unit. I had had my dryer vent cleaned two years ago by another provider who was a solo practitioner, and his price was $100 less than this company, but didn't include cleaning the dryer unit. In addition, comparing this service call with my previous service call two years ago, I was disappointed that the service provider did not inspect the dryer vent pipe (the previous provider did). The previous provider also quickly inspected the home vents to see if they needed to be cleaned as well (they did not). I suppose i could have asked for the inspections, but I expected the professional to offer the appropriate services and advice. So from a technical perspective, Mark was very fast and presumably thorough, which means he gets more jobs done in less time and makes more money for the company, and that is commendable. But perhaps a little extra customer service such as inspecting the dryer vent pipe or offering an additional inspection-type service would be appreciated, particularly since the price is pretty steep. All in all, a pretty good experience and I'd probably hire the company again.

Went well. Called that he could arrive earlier than quoted, assessed the situation and then cleaned the vent. Removed a lot more than the last cleaning by another company. My vent is quite long, bends and comes out on the roof. He got up on the roof and didn't have to disturb the dryer connection which is tight to two walls and not easy to get at. (Mark) Recommended them to my neighbors.

Contacted Dryer Vent Wizard on Sunday by e-mail and Carl responded immediately, setting up an appointment for first thing Tuesday morning. Service person was on time and friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. Very patiently waited out a sudden rain storm and then finished the job in short order. Will definitely use this service again.

He did a great job. The new vent is much better than the old one. It doesn't leak air and is mouse-proof.

We notice a problem with the dryer being slow to dry over the weekend. I emailed them Sunday. They were out at the house at 8 a.m. Monday, found the problem and solved it (vent cover too small) and cleaned the vent. They were very professional, polite, and thorough.

Our dryer had slowly stopped drying clothes last fall. We had had an appliance repair man check it out first, and he said it was a problem with the vents. Carl arrived exactly on time, and we described the problem. He could tell right away that the vent in the roof was clogged, so got up on his ladder and removed a screen that had been improperly installed by the builder. He turned on the dryer and went back up on the roof to find that there was still no airflow. Next he pulled the dryer out and determined that the foil transition was full of water (presumably condensed from previous loads), and that it had been crushed nearly flat (presumably by the installers or the warranty repair guy from Lowes). Since the transition was ruined, he also replaced that with a more rigid metal transition, which should hold up better. Since the repair we have not had any further problems. It was more expensive than we would have liked (nearly the cost of a new dryer to spend maybe an hour at our house), but he explained that much of the cost was for insurance for climbing up on the roof. I'm not convinced that my liability coverage wouldn't have been sufficient, but at least the work was good quality and the result was a working dryer and a vent that hasn't shown any signs of clogging since.
