Description of Work: I understood when I purchased the deal that there would be some additional expense for excavating the area and the base layer of gravel/sand, but when Bob Carlson came out to consult, I was shocked to hear him say that those items typically add an additional $2000 to the project cost. Despite the fact that my project area is wide open and completely accessible (no additional charges for removing existing surfaces, accessing tight spaces, etc.) and smaller than the voucher would have covered, his bid came in with a project cost of $2150. He did offer an Angie's List discount of $750, but that discount included the $450 voucher I'd already paid for, so the project would actually cost me $1850 - more than four times the price of the voucher, for a space 40% smaller than the size offered in the voucher. While I won't go as far as to call this a bait & switch, it was certainly misleading to say that the voucher would get me a 100sf "Paver Stone Patio, Driveway or Walkway (Delivered and Installed)". I would like to clarify that I don't hold this against the company - Bob was prompt, professional, and gave me thoughtful feedback and suggestions for the project. I don't think he intended anything deceptive in this. But unfortunately, the additional expense is too far outside my budget and I simply can't afford to do the project at this cost. It's unfortunate that the Big Deal listing wasn't clearer about the actual costs of completing the project. Offering "$450 off a completed paver project" would have been more accurate.

Description of Work: Bob was really nice and came by twice to look at the area we were wanting to put a patio on. We felt like the estimate was a bit on the high end and ended up contacting a few other landscapers to price out our project as well. We ended up deciding to go with a different provider who is able to do a larger project for us at a cost lower than what Bob was able to do. Bob was really good at responding to emails and phone calls and was always willing to answer any questions we had. It just came down to cost for us.
