I was looking for a contractor to build a hot tub gazebo. Corey was highly recommended to me by another trusted contractor whom I have hired in the past numerous times. Although Corey gave me wonderful ideas for the structure he never provided blueprints or a contract. (Red flag #1). He told me it would take about one week to build the gazebo. He asked for the $5000.00 payment upfront. (Red flag #2). He ordered the materials and started work on 6/4/2014. On June 13th he asked for an additional $1000.00 to order more supplies. (Red flag #3). He purchased and delivered the additional material. On June 18th he left and never came back. The gazebo is not finished. He left a pile of junk in the lawn and in the middle of our driveway. We could not get into or out of our garage because of the pile of lumber stacked in front of the garage door. He left behind his table saw, levels, caulking gun and caulk tubes, drill bits and screws, chalk lines and other assorted tools of the trade. We expected he would come back. Two weeks would pass and we would not hear anything from him. Finally, on July 7, 2014, he called to say he had ordered some parts for our project but the wrong ones were sent so he would have to wait until the correct parts came in for him to proceed. (Red flag #4?) He would not be heard from again. I called him numerous times and left messages that would go unanswered. On Sept. 12, 2014 he finally returned a call and said he would be back on Monday, Sep 15th with a friend of his to finish my job. Can you guess what happened? He was a no show, and no phone call. It is now Friday Sep 19 and I have given up. While cleaning us his piles of junk I found the original delivery slip. I was able to find out where the lumber came from. I have contacted them and told them of the terrible service and workmanship I received from Corey at Aquatight Exteriors. They will be taking him off their "recommended contractors" list. Upon looking at the unfinished gazebo there are many uneven boards, spaces and gaps, and warping. I brought it to his attention at the very beginning that one of the 4x4's he used for the legs was curved. He said that I wouldn't notice it after he gets it all framed in. Well, it is more than noticeable. It's crooked! And that's not the only thing crooked in this whole mess. I wonder if he even intended to finish it or if I was just an easy target. Corey scammed me. He was a smooth-talking, trust-gaining talker. All the red flags were there and I fell for it.
