Description of Work: Concrete garage floor (22' x 22'; demo and replace) and 23' sidewalk. Workmanship was very good but poor communications, changed schedules, broken garage door window (not acknowledged), broken irrigation line (not acknowledged) and piled base material on neighbor's grass without consent. Remaining balance not yet paid pending resolution of claims.

. We received a bid from them on August 1st and contracted with them for the work the same day.. They indicated that it would be September before they would be able to get the work done which was fine with us. They called us on Friday indicating that they would begin work the following Monday. They arrived promptly on Monday morning and worked all week and completed the project the following Monday. We were very satisfied with the job and it was completed promptly. They cleaned up all their materials and rehung the two gates which were removed during the project.
Description of Work: Replaced driveway and widened and replace existing sidewalks,

One half of driveway was poured on Oct 20, 2011 and second half on Oct 24, 2011. Concrete was supplied by Cemstone Products Co. The problem is the two halves of driveway are not the same color - one half is a white color typical of new concrete while the other half is a gray color. The gray color is not uniform, has smudges, and uneven shades of gray. It is obvious most of the gray smudges are the result of uneven and misapplication of a sealer by Bill Mosier, owner of Midwest Concrete Driveway. He did return in May 2012 and satisfactorily cleaned two spots (approx. 2 to 3 sq. ft.) where he had spilled sealer. He proposed applying a stain sealer that was suggested by Cemstone to dye the entire driveway a uniform darker color. I requested information about colors and long term effects of aging on the color. Bill Mosier has not returned my phone calls since then. I contacted the MN Attorney General and MN Better Business offices to complain about lack of response. Bill Mosier responded to MN BBB proposing application of the stain sealer and if that was not acceptable then he moved to bring the matter to arbitration. I requested arbitration by the MN BBB. I did not accept the application of stain (dye) sealer and the MN BBB advised on 10/29/12 Bill Mosier did not respond to an offer to arbitrate and they then closed this case. Cemstone insists the two batches of concrete were identical but stated there could be some variation in color due to temperature, humidity, finishing, sealing, etc. If this is the case, why is the gray half not more uniform in color rather than uneven smears, patches and smudges? I do not know if some of the effect is due to two different batches of concrete, but there is no doubt most of it is due to misapplication of sealer by Mr Mosier. He even admitted several smudges were from sealer he applied. In addition to color differences there is a 3/4 inch wide black fibrous expansion strip installed down the middle of the entire driveway length. I have never seen a typical residential driveway with a black fibrous expansion strip down the middle of the full length Aesthetically, the entire appearance is pathetic and I will not accept a darker dyed color as a solution. There are 4 new driveways (1 to 5 years old) within one block of mine, they look fine and are all very uniform in color. Unfortunately I picked the wrong contractor.

Midwest Concrete Driveway Company was professional and up front with their bid. Bill, the owner, was out doing the work with his hired person. He used quality materials and thickness of concrete. He performed the work promptly and kept the area clean. I had a very positive experience and would use Bill again.
