While getting our house ready to sell, the city inspector told us our older plumbing was not up to code. The biggest problem was that our bathtub drain was not "properly wasted."I called Huber Plumbing on a Friday, and they were able to schedule me for Monday - very quick! They showed up on time, did quality work (and they worked at a nice pace -- it took less time than they originally estimated), were thorough about communicating what they were doing, cleaned up afterwards, and took care of getting the city permit. Their rates were very reasonable, and they did a great job.
Description of Work: Brought older plumbing up to code, including connecting the bathtub to a proper waste/vent pipe.

He did a great job. There was water leaking on the bathroom floor and down through the clothes chute to the basement. We could not figure out where the water was coming from. We thought it was coming from the tub, but he discovered that it was actually 2 leaks in the toilet. He repaired the leaks and everything is working just great now!

We had been saving up a lot of misc plumbing tasks. I used the daily deal and another $50 or so to have 3 toilets checked and adjusted, also our kitchen sink was very loose and needed to be tightened with a special tool. The biggest job was in our master bath shower, where a brace behind the wall had failed years ago. When you pull out on the handle to get the water flowing, the entire handle assembly would pull out an inch or more. That was a challenging repair, because the hole cut into the fiberglass wall was quite small in diameter. Lastly, he took a look at a potential problem with our sprinkler system water connection, both outside and in our crawlspace and provided estimates for both a tactical and strategic repairs.

Brent provided us with a free estimate for the work. The part for the washer was not available locally so had to be ordered. When it arrived, we set up an appointment to have it installed. Brent called the day before to verify the appointment and arrived the following day right on schedule. He completed the work quickly and made sure everything was working properly . The work was completed for less than his original estimate.

Not very well. Randy should have volunteered to get the required part to fix the hot water. Tim should have checked the drain to be sure it was working not just assumed it was okay. The entire experience was too drawn out for what should have been a fairly simple repair.
Description of Work: I had purchased a deal for plumbing from Angie's list. The vendor was Huber's Plumbing. I had two plumbing problems so I called them and talked to Tim. He said he was leaving on a week's vacation, but his partner Randy would come out the next day (a Saturday) and look at the problems. Randy called and said he couldn't make it Saturday but would come out Monday or Tuesday. When he came he looked at the upstairs bathroom faucet which was leaking hot water. He had to pull the mechanism for the stopper to do this. He said he didn't have the necessary part to fix the hot water and suggested we buy a new faucet. He also said the faucet in the basement needed to be replaced. We went out over the weekend to home supply stores and looked at faucets. We bought one for the basement, but the type we wanted for the upstairs was no longer available. Lowe's suggested we go to a plumbing supply store, which we did on Monday. They could order something similar but it was fairly expensive. My husband had been saying he didn't see why just replacing the hot water cartridge wouldn't fix the faucet and wanted to try that before we spent the money on ordering a new faucet. He did and it worked fine. By this time, Tim had returned from vacation and took over the repairs. He replaced the basement faucet, and confirmed that the hot water cartridge was working. He also took care of a problem with the cold water which improved the pressure. He also mentioned replacing another part related to the drain but decided it wasn't necessary. Unfortunately, it was. The drain runs very slow and it isn't possible to stopper the sink. I haven't called Tim back yet to fix it because I don't want to spend more money on repairs that should have been done the first time around. We were without hot water in our upstairs bathroom sink for over a week.

Randy spent 30 minutes letting the bath tub water run and made a few diagnostic tests along the way and he concluded the following: There is nothing defective with my 9 year old Sear's water heater. Lots of hot water came out for this 40 gallon gas tank, but he concluded, in reality, these 40 gallon tanks have limitations. He also said because there was no ground cover (snow) around the house, this also added to the reduced amount of hot water, vs. if there was a higher amount of snow around the house. But in the final analysis, he said the couple need to either space out their showers, or take shorter showers. Replacing the water heater with another 40 gallon water heater would be a waste and not solve any problems. I was expecting to spend $900-1200 on a new heater, but thanks to my Inspector buddy and Randy, they saved me a lot of money! Randy was extremely pleasant and of course highly knowledgable. I asked him what the cost would be for today's visit and he said, is was complementary. I insisted to pay him for a trip charge and he declined, which I wasn't expecting, but what a nice "gift" for me, because I didn't expect a free analysis. As it turns out, my personal residence is a very large house with multiple bathrooms and furnaces and when the time comes, I will absolutely not hesitate to contact Huber Plumbing for my future needs. I have been ripped from various contractors/mechanics, etc. over the years, and it is really unfortunate when we as homeowners have limited knowledge on plumbing or electrical issues and feel forced to do what they say. For me, finding a valuable contractor, in this case a PLUMBER, was GOLD, and I am so thankful that I have a friend (City Inspector) in the business and for his referral. Thank you Randy for spending the 45 minutes with me today! You will be hearing from me again down the road! I would hire this firm with confidence. Hopefully our Angie's LIst reports will motivate these contractors to offer us superior service at fair prices. I also noticed Huber Plumbing had a very strong Angie's List rating, which also confirmed they were reputable.
Description of Work: I own a rental property in SW Minneapolis and the tenants contacted me and told me the hot water is running out very quickly and I assumed it was time to replace the water heater spend $1000 or so. Well thankfully, I am fortunate enough to have a friend of mind that is the City Plumbing inspector for one of the local suburbs and he told me before I go to Sears or Home Depot, contact Randy Huber, a licensed Master Plumber, and have him stop by the house for an evaluation, because he said, "I know Randy will NOT rip you off like some other plumbers in the area" which was very comforting to hear. Well the response time was ONE hour and I don't know if I got special treatment because I was a personal friend of the inspector, but Randy was at my property within ONE hour. I described the problem and said the tenants were running out of hot water during the second shower and they would like the problem addressed before their friends come in from out of town next month. They are wonder renters and I was ready to spend $1000 for the water heater, but my inspector friend told me it could be the faucet cartridge, because there was still warm water coming out of a different faucet, so don't be so quick to spend your money. My plumbing inspector buddy couldn't make a definitive recommendation over the phone, but he said, you need somebody you can trust, and I know that Randy Huber is one of most competent plumbers in the area and he will offer honest advice and will not make a recommendation just to generate a sale, which was all very comforting to me. Who has extra money to spend in these times?

Checked out link in sink that, as expected, turned out to be a broken garbage disposal and leaky faucet fixture. Had a disposal in h is truck and installed it while I went out and purchased a new faucet fixture. Did entire job in estimated time for estimated cost. (I purchased an Angie's List deal.) B for responsiveness because initial call wasn't returned and I had to leave a second message. Would still use again.

Arrived on time (yeah!). Very efficient. Replaced the kitchen faucet first and then the bathroom faucet. We were worried about the kitchen faucet as we had replaced a dishwasher ourselves and noticed the pipes were old and did not want any problems in the future due to different pressure in the pipes. The bathroom faucet had started a slow leak (although we did not know it!) so we were told it was a good thing we replaced the old faucet (which we had done only because it was outdated). We had purchased the Angie's list Big deal because it was a great deal, but we found a good plumber we will use in the future if needed.

He was very nice on the telephone. He gave us really reasonable rates. We didn't end up using him though. We talked to him over the phone because we wanted to have a water softener installed and he told me what it was. We called quite a few places and he was the most reasonable. We didn't use him because we found out that the relative was a plumber; but otherwise we would have used him. We didn't get a chance to meet him in person and didn't get to see his work, but everything on the phone was excellent. He called us back right away.

My wife and I have been noticeing some water leakage around the bottom of a plastic drain pipe in our basement, and this has been going on now for many months. But it was not consistent, and we were not able to determine under what conditions the leak would occur. So, we held off calling a plumber because we were afraid that if we called a plumber during a time when the pipe wasn't leaking, we would probably pay a huge service call for nothing if they were not able to determine why it was leaking. Well, I received a Big Deal notice for a plumber service call and one hour of labor for only $59.95! I showed it to my wife, and we both agreed that that was a great price to pay for a plumber. I paid the cost of the Big Deal, and the coupon that I printed out showed the name of the plumber. I called Huber Plumbing, and he scheduled a day and time for him to come here. I explained to him that the pipe may not be leaking when he got here, and he (Brent Huber) said that he would take a look at it anyways. Brent happned to be in the area a day earlier than the scheduled service call, and he came here to look at the pipe. He asked me to turn on all of the faucets in the house in order to get a good flow of water going, hopefully to force the pipe to leak, but it did not. So, Brent told me to check the pipe a few times each day and to call him when it was leaking. He did not take my Big Deal coupon at that time, and he did not charge me anything because he happened to be in the area when he called. Well, that same day after he left, I happened to wash a load of dishes in my dishwasher, and then the pipe started to leak! VOILA! That was the mysterious trigger that caused the pipe to leak. I called Brent and he was able to come back the next day. He had me run the dishwasher again so that he could see first-hand where the leak originated. He showed me where the leak was, and it was in a very tight area at the joint of a 45 degree "Y" coupling near the basement cealing. I never would have guessed that the leak was there because I only noticed the pool of water around the pipe at the surface of the basement floor. Brent cut out the defective Y coupling and replaced it with a new one. PROBLEM SOLVED! Total cost for parts was only $9.00. Brent Huber is one of those guys who you would love to have as a friend. He is very friendly, caring, professional, and intelligent. And he does excellent work. (What more could you ask for!). I am very pleased with the service I received from him, and I will definitely call him again if I ever need a plumber.

The only thing I can add to what I said above is that Mr. Huber seemed to know his business. Until retirement in1990, I spent over 30 years working with plumbing contractors every day as Managing Mechanical Engineer in the Planning Office at the University. Huber Plumbing will be getting some more work for me, assuming their price is acceptable.
Description of Work: Brent Huber came to install a replacement fill valve in our upstairs water closet this afternoon (12/27/2011). He did a fine, professional job of an ordinary plumbing job and he inspected another area of concern to me. Suffice to say, any future plumbing needed in our house will be accomplished by Huber Plumbing.
