We serve Minneapolis & St Paul as well as the surrounding suburbs. We manage Pronto from a local office & we are committed to providing friendly, hassle-free service and employing only the best technicians. The Sedgwick family sold its business in 1999 to a national manufacturer and Wade and Greg stayed on to run the business from 1999 through March 2008. We opened Pronto because we felt we could provide a personalized experience and exceptional customer service by managing our entire business from a local office. We are committed to providing friendly, hassle-free service and employing only the best technicians. Pronto is proud to have won the Bryant 2009 Dealer of the Year award. The award is given each year to Bryant’s best dealer out of more than 4,000 dealers in North America.

Pronto was an excellent choice! From my first call to their office for an appointment through the final details after installation they were awesome. Jeff was very knowledgeable on available products and which would best meet my requirements. The day of installation John and Kevin arrived right on time. They explained the process, answered a couple questions, prepared the area and started. They continued to give updates of their progress as the installation proceeded. When it was completed they walked me through all of the needed instructions, answering any additional questions I had. Everything was cleaned up perfectly and John thanked me for choosing Pronto as he left. The entire Pronto team was very professional and personable. I commented at the end how impressed I was with the look of the installation. Originally I had gotten four estimates. When everything was finished I felt really good, that the correct choice had been made. Great customer service is hard to find these days and the entire Pronto team delivered just that!

The installation went very well, however I had a strong persistent odor when the furnace ran that remained for 5 days. Service technicians attempted to determine/resolve the problem but ultimately had to remove that furnace and install a different one. When the second one was installed, the odor went away after a few hours. While the experience with the first furnace was concerning, I was pleased that the company offered to install a different one.

Pronto was able to come out the same day to fix our furnace. They were extremely responsive, helpful and took care of the problem right away. The technician was even patient enough to work with us in getting approval from our home warranty. We truly appreciate everything they did for us and will be using them again!

The Pronto serviceman was on time and very courteous. He spent about one hour trying to find where the noise I had heard came from. It wasn't easy to figure out because the noise was not happening when he came. He finally found that it was the motor in our air exchanger. The serviceman was very helpful and thorough in his explanation of what he was doing and how he figured out the problem which I appreciated since I didn't want him to guess at what might have happened.

In short be careful with this company or any others. They may try to sell you a new system and you don't need it. Get second and third opinions before making a very expensive and possibly not needed purchase. I had a furnace that had stopped working. I called Proto and they responded quickly and on time. I had used them a couple years ago to replace an AC system and it went very well. The first service technician told me the inducer fan was going out - squealing sound, bad bearings, and because the furnace was 23 years old the best he could do was check some sensors, adjust the gas, etc. to make it operational - the replacement of the inducer fan would cost at least $700. He suggested I have a estimator come out and give me a price for a new furnace, the company called me and scheduled an appointment for 12/28. The next day the furnace stopped working again. Again, Proto responded quickly and had someone out that date. The second technician told me that he also did not see spending $700-$1000 to replace the inducer fan, and suggested I get the estimator out quicker, and they moved the appointment to 12/23. They told me to reset the furnace(turn the power switch off for a while) if it stopped working. After this I researched the problem on the internet and talked with a retired HVAC person. Basically I learned that replacing a air inducer was not $700-$1000 but rather the part was about $100 and takes about 15-20 minutes to install (two electrical connections-4 screws on the furnace-3 screws on the venting that connects to the inducer fan). The HVAC person said to oil the current inducer fan motor and it should be fine until we can get a new part. Sure enough after oiling the inducer motor the furnace never stopped working again. We ordered the part, and installed it a week later. Furnace works fine now with a new, quiet inducer fan. To say the least this has made a impact in my trust of HVAC repair companies. Always get second and preferably independent opinions when being asked to replace an entire system.

Response from Pronto Heating & Air Conditioning
[removed member's name], After reading your post & researching the calls performed by Pronto I believe this is really a discussion about price and the Do-It-Yourself option. I think you would agree that our technicians did nothing unethical during their visits. They identified the cause of the furnace failure correctly and quoted you a Flat Rate price for the repair. They also encouraged you to look into replacing the old furnace due to the age. Most furnaces do not last more than 20 years. I understand that you did not like the $700 price that our technician quoted for the repair. Our business is not very complicated but there are quite a few expenses that go into running a professional, friendly, & reliable service business. Here is a breakdown of what goes into our business: At Pronto, we do our best to provide professional, courteous, on-time service. We want all Pronto customers to brag to their friends how nice it was to do business with such a well-run company! At the same time, we want to structure Pronto so we are profitable and in business for years to come. It doesn’t help us or you if we are not priced right. We want to be there when you need us whether that is next year or 10 years down the road. In our business, the goal each year is to make a 10% Pre-Tax Profit. There are many expenses involved in operating a service company. We all understand the parts and labor necessary to make the repair but here are all of the costs involved in our business. Costs involved in a Service Appointment Direct Costs – 33% Labor paid to the Technician – 20% Cost of the Part – 13% Advertising – 9% Google – 2% Angie’s List – 1% Radio – 3% Mailers – 3% Employee Expense -24% Office Employees – Customer Service – 13% Payroll Tax – 3% Workers Comp Insurance – 1% Vacation Pay – .75% Holiday Pay – .5% Health Care – 2% Training – 1% 401K Plan – .75% Tools – .5% Cell Phones & iPads – .5% Background & Drug Testing – .25% Payroll Processing Fees – .25% Uniforms – .5% Vehicle Expense – 11% Truck Leases – 4.5% Fuel for Vehicles – 3.5% Insurance for Vehicles – 1.5% Truck Maintenance – 1% GPS for Vehicles – .25% Truck Washes – .25% Facility Expense – 5% Building Rent – 3.5% Xcel Bill – .25% Center Point Bill – .25% Garbage – .25% Security System – .25% Recycling – .25% Forklift – .25% Administrative – 8% General Liability Insurance – 2.5% Cable, Phone, & Internet Service – .75% Consulting Services – .75% Accounting Services – .75% Copier – .5% Phones for the Office – .75% Cloud Data Storage Service – .5% Laptop & Desktop Computers – .75% Business Computer Software – .25% Office Supplies – .25% Office Furniture – .25% Budgeted Pretax Profit – 10% State & Federal Tax – 2.75% Budgeted After Tax Profit – 7.25% [removed member's name], I'm happy you were able to save a little bit of money with a Do-It-Yourself repair. However, you have to admit that there is no way a professional & trustworthy HVAC company can compete on price with a One Man, Do-It-Yourselfer. Pronto provides a Full 1-Year Warranty on all of our service repairs and our techs have all attended a 2 to 3 year Technical school (like Hennepin Tech or Dunwoody). The techs also receive 100-150 hours of training each year with Pronto. I own Pronto and there is NO WAY that I would attempt a Do-It-Yourself repair on my own furnace. I value the safety of my family and I have seen what can go wrong when homeowners without training try to repair their furnaces with the help of Google. I believe you got lucky this time with a temporary Do-It-Yourself repair. I also believe you will have another furnace problem with the 23 year old furnace in the next year or two and you'll be buying a new furnace. Since I took an interest in his findings, he showed me the rust beginning to show on the heat exchanger, and we discussed the ages of both pieces of equipment. We were beginning preemptive research on replacing one or both units, and he provided rough estimates for replacement costs for the furnace and the current deal on a replacement water heater. Since we collect multiple bids before pursuing contract work, we did not go forward at that time with replacement service, but started preparing a house re-budgeting to allow for future work as needed. There was no pressure to purchase or follow-up and we appreciated the Angie's List offer for this service.
Description of Work: He ran through the usual checks for the furnace system and included a check of the water heater when we asked about carbon monoxide levels.

I walked into standing water in the unfinished part of our basement at 11pm on December 23rd. After some investigation, we decided that our water heater was toast. We were a little worried about needing to get it replaced on Christmas Eve day, but Pronto was wonderful. We called and left them a message the night of the 23rd around 11:30pm. They called us back around 7am on the 24th, and were at our house starting the work by 9am. The whole process was done before noon. They did a wonderful job of keeping everything neat and clean, were prompt, polite, and professional, and they didn't gouge us on the price. We would definitely recommend Pronto to others.

It took about a month from when I called until the appointment. That was expected, because I called in November for furnace service. About 2 days before the appointment, the service agent called requesting a reschedule because of an emergency with the technician. They rescheduled for 2 days later at an agreed-upon time. The appt was for 7am (which was great for my schedule) and the tech arrived on time. The service went as expected. The technician wore booties to protect my floor, and he cleaned up after himself. I will be using them again

This was our first time working with Pronto and we were so impressed. They're going to be our "go-to" for any future heating/AC issues that come up - we can't recommend them highly enough. Our old thermostat was broken so we initially contacted them to install our new Nest thermostat ($117, very competitive even with what Amazon "Home Services" are charging now for a thermostat install, which is what I had set up initially - until they cancelled the day before the appt.!) In the process, the Pronto tech encountered some outdated/"creative" wiring that had been done in the past on the furnace. :) The impressive thing was that the technician (Chris) kept at it and stuck with the issue to make sure he had it figured out so that our thermostat would work and the wiring would be safe. The appointment went WELL over what I'm sure it usually does, but Chris just kept working to figure out the issues. (He must have gone up and down our basement stairs a hundred times.) Pronto has really clear, flat-rate pricing, so it was amazing for our peace of mind to know that whatever was needed to make the install work, they would honor the original price. As he worked through the thermostat issue, we discovered that a few other things weren't working quite as they should. Long story short, we set up another appointment, and Chris brought in other technicians and even the owner of the company, Scott, to consult and work on the issues. They worked at it for hours - again, staying true to their flat-rate pricing for the repair. While I know we need a new furnace at some point, and they offered that option, they were awesome at working to find a repair solution, and methodically worked through all the issues that could be causing the heating problems. Absolutely no "There's nothing we can do" or pressure tactics to buy a new furnace; they really wanted to make a repair work for us if they could, which was great since the cost of the repair on top of the new thermostat was already unexpected budget-wise. Working with their office has been great to schedule appointments (super friendly staff), they've always been on time, and the office calls to say they're on their way. We will definitely be using them in the future when we do need a new unit and highly recommend them.

They called me to say they would be on time. Tech put on booties and explained what he was going to do, then went about his business and was done in about an hour. He explained that everything was in good condition and what he had to adjust. He explained about their service contract and regular cleaning program, and was not high pressure about it. He explained about the rebate that was available. All was nicely done.

This was the second year I had Pronto out to do a scheduled tune-up of my furnace. While I was very happy with the company in 2014 --I honestly have to say that I would never use them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. On the day of the appointment, the technician went to the wrong address. I live in N Minneapolis and he went to S Minneapolis so he arrived 30 minutes after the time they advised me he would arrive. The technician blamed the office for giving him the wrong address--the office later on advised that it was a technician error that he put the wrong address in his GPS--either way the story changed depending on who you spoke too. This is frustrating and shows a lack of consistency on behalf of the company. When the technician arrived he did go to work promptly (he did not really apologize for the address mix-up) and everything seemed to go fine. He advised me that the unit was working properly and cleaned and presented me with an invoice which I paid and he left. It was after he left that things went down hill. I went into the furnace room to turn off the light and there were a couple pieces of furnace tape lying on the floor which were left by the technician. I easily picked them up (although the invoice says they will clean up all items) and threw them away. While this isn't really a big deal it just shows a lack of detail/attention. What concerns me more is what I found next. While I was picking up the tape, I noticed a couple of screws that were part of the furnace. One was laying on the floor, and one was laying on the air filter unit. These clearly came from the furnace but I don't know what or where they belong. When I called the company I was advised that they must have "fallen out of the tech's bag" which considering where the one of them was located would have been very difficult and even if they had fallen out of his bag according to the invoice I was provided, technicians are supposed to clean up after themselves--which they did not honor. I did send an email to the company as I now have an unsettled feeling about how my furnace was actually put back together and if it is going to work properly. . While I did receive a voice mail from their service manager that he would be happy to send a technician out and that he would be calling me (his exact words) to re-service my unit his followup has been lackluster. Instead of calling--he instead sent me an email with a new proposed time which I didn't actually see until after the proposed time was past. When I responded to his email that I was expecting a call, the response I received (again back via email) was "Sorry about that. Every time I would think about it I was in a meeting" so clearly I"m not even important enough for him to honor his own commitments. Today I was surprised when all of a sudden a Pronto Truck showed up outside my door. Since I had never received a call from Scott I had no idea that they were coming and was unable to have them service my furnace. I then called Pronto myself and setup a follow-up appointment for next week--again demonstrating their lack of followup Final issue--our local energy company is offering rebates if you have your furnace tuned up before the end of the year. Since I didn't receive any information about what was required, I had sent the company an emaI l on 11/29. Since they hadn't bother to respond to that request when I was speaking with the rep today she advised that the original technician should have left the required forms (which of course he did not). She was going to me mailing them to me--hopefully I actually receive. One final note--I did receive an automated email from the company advising that if you complete a review on the company they will send you a gift card (doesn't matter if the review is positive or negative). Some how based on everything else that has gone wrong I have my doubts that they will actually honor that--but we shall see

Response from Pronto Heating & Air Conditioning
[Member Name Removed], Thank you for your honest review - we appreciate the honesty so that we can improve our services. We spoke today, but I wanted to assure you that we are doing our best to fix the problems you encountered with our services. First, we have discussed how important it is to arrive at the correct home, and we always strive to arrive in the two hour time window we quote to our customers. Details are important, and we know that at Pronto. Second, we have spoken with our service technicians. Pronto promises that we will leave your home cleaner than it was when we arrived, and there is no excuse for anything - tape, screws, or even fuzz on the carpet - to be left in your space after we're finished. Third, our communication obviously failed during your services, and after with our manager. I know he personally called to apologize. Sometimes, with the crazy days, we forget that we are people, and that a phone call is ALWAYS necessary. Email is NOT acceptable, and this will not happen again with our team. We do remarkable work, and your experience should be nothing short of remarkable. We failed this time, but we are coming back to your home to try to give you this remarkable experience in the end. We WILL make it right, I can promise you that. I'm hoping that after you receive our remarkable experience, and you see that we are an honest company with integrity, you will comment on our turnaround, and how we really did do a great job for you! Again, my apologies, and I promise that you will see how great Pronto's services really are! Crystal Nellermoe Pronto Heating & Air Conditioning

Went very well, had saleman Jack come out, went over every thing that we needed and a gave us a decent price. He fitted us in pretty fast because we had a furnace that was in need of replacement . They did a good job and really nice guys that did the work, kept things clean and answered all my questions. My only complaint is their time. The 2 hr window for arrival was 4 hrs, I understand having trouble on job before but they could keep us updated. I'd have them back again. Duane Glew

I have used Pronto before and they have always done great work, this was no different. I had a tune up scheduled for a couple weeks out because I know that my flame sensor needs cleaning almost every year. Then on on of the colder days my furnace just couldn't keep up and so I called them up for an emergency service. I was quoted $139 but it was not clear that it was just for the truck roll, not any services that needed to be preformed. Chris came out within the next 2 hours and got me back up and running quickly, he was kind enough to help me out a little due to the misunderstanding about the emergency pricing

I was installing a new fence, using a contractor found on Angie's List, and they severed my gas line that runs to my gas grill. They did partial due dillegence and had Gopher One come mark where all utilites were. Unfortunately the fence company did not mark where they would be digging, therefore the gas line was not marked. They would not take responsibility for severing the gas line, which left me scrambling for what to do. I had to call Centerpoint out asap, to make sure all was ok. Well Centerpoint also would not take responsibilty for their error in not marking there was a gas line and Red Tagged my home, they shut off the gas completely. I had yet to use Pronto for any services, but had them out for an estimate for an ac unit once before. So my first call was to them. I spoke with Katie, I believe, in the office and she was so nice and helpful, and understood my frustation with my contractor. By the end of the call I had Pronto scheduled for the next day. Matt came out and was very kind in his explanation of the full cost, even though I was beyond frustrated that I had to put so much money that was unexpected. I asked how much it would be to fix the line to my grill and he suggested that we go another route instead of having the line trenched in the yard. He was unable to do it that day, understandable, but capped off the line and turned the gas back on to my home. He scheduled another date to come out to do the line. The following week Matt and Mike arrived and within 1 hour had my gas grill back up and running. They were friendly, knowledgable and told me they would be back later that night for a hot steak off the grill! While I was upset with the fact that I needed to have to use Pronto and their services, I cannot imagine using anyone else. They are go above and beyond in their customer services as well as the work they do.

Everything went well. The office called about 15 minutes prior to the appointment to confirm. The technician showed up at the very beginning of the 2 hour time frame they had given me. The technician, Keith, was polite, professional, and explained what he had found and what he had done. I've always had good experiences with Pronto, and will continue to use them
