I have a large condo and she scanned every room and I found treasures in storage and she staged book shelves and moved paintings and moved furniture and left me with a notebook with color swatches and her sketches for art work and 2specific furniture additions which I found on etsy and art web sites. She is also going with me to choose new carpeting. I shared with Sue that I am near 80 years old and did not want to buy new furniture for the kids to have to sell. I never interfered with any of her re-staging as I sensed that she has a unique eye for how to balance the whole picture. I have an eye for arranging pieces of a room but not the whole system. I invited a friend over as I watched Sue and my was intrigued. My tastes are now quite eclectic and contemporary and my friend is from Colorado and has traditional condo with lovely family antiques. She called me that night and said she was going to call Sue. sue made my large living room look smaller and more inviting and my friend-s living area seems much larger. Now we have another neighbor who is going to call her. Amazing talent. I intend to call her again.

We purchased a N Oaks home last fall that had not been updated since the 70's, and I knew I needed professional help. Sue walked through the entire house with me and gave me ideas on optimum furniture placement or suggested different furniture that would serve the space better. She laid out options for fabrics and colors, which I could then easily select what I liked best, and she gave me complete direction on wall and trim color, lighting, furniture, pillows / bedspreads, wall décor, window treatments, etc. She helped me rearrange my built in bookcases for a more pleasing display. She even drew me pictures of the furniture and lighting she had in mind. I have worked with interior designers before, and the speed with which Sue operated was amazing. She left me a book of all her ideas, drawings and selections of color and fabric swatches, which I have carried with me to stores all over the metro. Because she was so incredibly fast, I was initially somewhat skeptical that it would all come together, and I didn't want to write a review until I had one room completely redone. I just finished a complete redo of my main floor bath, doing as she suggested with the wall / trim color, lighting, vanity, mirror, and window treatments, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to continue with the rest of the house! Sue is amazing!

Sue is amazing! A few years ago, we rebuilt our house but when it came time to pick out the paint colors, I felt totally overwhelmed. Sue came to the rescue. Her vast knowledge and experience actually turns this very intimidating process into a FUN and enjoyable experience. I needed help picking out the color scheme and vibe. She really listened and understood what I liked, which are bright colors everywhere, but helped me with the difficult task of how to pull all of this color together with a nice flow. When it came time to decorate my new dance studio, I called her again! Everyone loves the colors, I get adoring comments all the time. Now, my retired mom just rebuilt her home and found herself totally overwhelmed too. Her tastes are totally opposite from mine and she was going to paint the entire house beige because she was too afraid of using any color. I immediately called Sue, and again she came to the rescue! She really listened to my mom and understood what she wanted and helped her to see that she could still have a very calm and neutral home, but add color at the same time. Sue helped her with the color flow of the entire house and even pulled in the outside paint to match inside too. The house is now painted and my mom is absolutely delighted! I would highly recommend Sue for any of your decorating needs. She made scheduling really easy, she is so good at what she does and her rates are so affordable. We have lived in our home for over 28 years, been through many different fads,3 kids, dogs, nothing flowed. We were ready for a change! When I phoned Sue I was very nervous because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, I did not want to spend alot of money remodeling, just some much needed updating. I talked with her several times before agreeing to an appointment, she was confident she could help me. She arrived at the appointment on time and I have to admit she did have a confident look. She is very plesant & was ready to get right to work. She wanted to look all around our house but I just wanted her to look at our master bedroom, hallway & stairs. We agreed the old wall paper in the hallway needed to come down as well as our flowery paper and poufy valances. Sue was very encouraging and we got very excited about the colors she selected for us. We then met with her again to select carpeting. She is very good at color and giving us options to stay within our budget. As luck would have it my washing machine died and I needed to purchase a washer & dryer. We were going to change our laundry room floor in the spring but decided now would be the time. I called Sue and she helped us pick out a new product ( lvt flooring,) looks like wood but its a vinyl board. Ok so now were really up in price but Pro Source was having a sale and made it afforable so we could do it all. You do need to hire your painter & carpet & flooring installers yourself but I was given names through Pro source for the flooring. I had 2 different estimates and had very good results. I'm happy to report everything looks wonderful It's like living in a new house. Sue has a fabulous eye for color she gives you ideas you can take it where you want. She's not pushy she has great ideas to incorporate with what you have. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the up coming months to finish our kitchen, entry & laundry room. She kind of takes where you started a good idea and makes it better. I think her logo Home for a change is very fitting!

The 4 hrs/$400 was well worth it. You can spend a lot more for a much more robust design plan. But for the dollars and time spent, this is perfect for the person on a budget and needing help to determine where to put your attention and money. She takes into account resell and what will pay off as well as what is need and for your situation. I gave this an A on all aspects but put Quality to a B. I feel quality matches the time/$'s....but want people to have the right expectations. If you are wanting all the bells/whistles you will need to spend a lot more money. I am very pleased w/ the service provided and will likely use her shopping services ahead as I may need help to pull some of the rooms together. She's great at what she does.

I hired Sue to do a design consult on my recently purchased condo. This property had been in foreclosure and (with a good deal of spackle and magic erasing) is a blank slate beyond some decent maple cabinets and woodwork. Sue was pleasant to talk with while setting up the appointment, was prompt and came with loads of fabric and paint samples. After a tour and brief chat about my preferences and which elements would stay, Sue started pulling and coordinating fabric and paint swatches. Three hours later, I had a detailed written plan with sketches, paint colors and inspiration fabrics for every room and area of my home. We have since met at Prosource and, within 2 hours, made decisions for all the flooring, countertops and backsplash. This would have taken several weekends and many miles to do on my own. I have started painting with Sue's proposed colors and they are fantastic! I am looking forward to hardwood floors next.

Our small home needed staging to incorporate my elderly parent"s furnishings into our home. I specifically asked for this service in my email to the service provider. Future paint colors and fabrics were not a priority. The provider spent time "selling" retailers who could sell us new furniture that were in scale with our home. Our perception is that the provider wanted to perform interior design services rather than staging services. We simply needed help with room flow and furniture placement. The service did not meet our needs.

Sue was so fun to work with and she provided us with exactly what we needed. We needed furniture and a great deal of accessories and artwork for our home. She had great ideas and an incredible eye for finding the perfect thing for the perfect spot, time and time again. We felt that Sue was always looking out for our best interest. She knew what we wanted to pay and she was able to stay within our range. She always wanted to find us a good deal and yet was still able to provide an end result that was both upscale and high quality. She has completely filled in the gaps in our home and we could not be more pleased with the process and end result. Sue was great to work with and I plan to use her again!

We hired Sue after we started our kitchen remodel and weren't sure what to do with our new smaller hearth room. We also needed help picking out the paint colors. Sue had a lot of great ideas for that room and every other room in the house. She put together a book for our home re-design and I'm really excited to get started on it.

In anticipation of selling our home, we "went beige", but subsequently elected not to move after all. Our furniture and décor were dated, the house screamed bland, and it was definitely time for a major transformation. We had heard very good recommendations about Sue Hunter, owner of "Home for a Change", and she came to our home to do an overall review top to bottom. Sue and I then choose colors, styles and put together a coordinated look in a single visit. The results have been wonderful. I have been able to get on top of my home update and feel confident about those important initial steps that are the foundation for assembling the look that I want. We have met for two home visits and also did a shopping foray for furniture, carpet (multiple areas) and coordinating fireplace tile. Next steps will be fabric, window coverings and accessories, for which I can obtain help if I need it. Sue has been creative, understands my needs and preferences, and maybe best of all, my husband likes our decisions!

I was very happy with Sue's service, she came up with a design plan for most of my house in 4 hours on site at my home. No further work is required, I can do the work slowly or quickly with her help or by myself, all at once or spread out over 20 years if I choose. I liked her insight and feel if I ever move again, this is the first thing I should do.

Sue met us at our new house. She brought a lot of samples of fabrics and paint colors. We went through the entire house and discussed paint colors, types of furniture, and lighting. When she left that day she had it all written up and left me with the paint colors and fabric swatches for each room. She then met us to help us decide on wood flooring and carpet. She was very knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. She was great at following up with me to make sure I did not have any additional questions. I would definitely use her again.

My husband recently said, "Sue is phenomenal!" She has helped us transition from a traditional home filled with antiques in a small town in western Minnesota to a downtown St. Paul condo with a transitional decor. Each of us wanted to be the one to pick the decorator, so we did our own research and we each came up with a name. The decorating gods were with us as we both had picked out Sue Hunter. She is nothing short of amazing to work with. She has an uncanny sense for making everything fit and flow. She problem solves on the her feet and she seeks and respects our thoughts and feelings. Because Sue doesn't have her own store, she has been open to where ever and whatever we wanted to shop for, and we have ranged from the very high end to the very economical. She is light and fun, yet stays focused and organized keeping track of details and staying on top of it all. She is enthusiastic about her work and has endless energy for decorating. Sue has made many trips to our condo to plan, arrange, and accesorize to make sure everything is just right. We are thrilled with the result. You will be too.

Sue is awesome and exceeded my expectations. It has taken me a year to sit down and do this review, but that is actually a good thing, because I've had a chance to implement her plan and can offer even better feedback now. I called her in for help after I made a disastrous choice in paint colors and hated the results. I am clearly not talented for this sort of thing. I wondered how it might work to have someone else figure out what it is that I like, when I couldn't even do it myself. I really just wanted help with a couple of key areas in my house, but Sue said that when she comes out, she would go through the whole house. Well, let me tell you, after spending some time looking at fabrics and talking, she created a whole book for me, complete with paint and fabric samples and drawings of furniture and light fixtures. By the time she was done, I was so in love with her vision for the whole house, that I wanted to redo everything according to her plan, rather than just the key areas that I had started out with. I have spent the past year plinking away at paint, window dressings, light fixtures and furniture all according to "the plan". And it is coming together amazingly well. Well worth every penny! Saved me the cost and agony of more mistakes. She totally captured the feel that I wanted and I love enjoying my home now! And the odd thing is, she recommended a couple of things that I never would have picked, and even wondered about, but I proceeded with "the plan" anyways and now that it is here - it works perfectly. Proving once again that I just don't have a talent for this sort of thing. Leave it to the experts. And Sue is clearly an expert. I would highly recommend her for any interior design work. She is my hero! :)

Sue arrived right on time, and got right to work. I was amazed at how much she accomplished in 4 hours. I was thinking I needed new furniture, but she started moving things around and oh my gosh! i now love my living room. She did the same thing throughout my house, where I did not think I needed it but now it looks so much better. I wanted her to help me pick paint colors, which she did, and she left me with tons of ideas, and inspiration fabrics. She made notes for each room, with details and sketches so I can shop for accessories and do it right. I always get the wrong thing and its a waste of money. With Sue's help I am on the right track! I asked her to get a quote for drapes and chair covers in the dining room. I will continue to use her for shopping help too. I was planning on remodeling my master bath, and she gave me great ideas. This was the best money I have spent.

Sue came with small suitcases full of fabric. I showed her pictures of rooms we like that we found in books. One of the first things we did, after a quick tour of the house, was determine color schemes for the rooms by going through the suitcases of fabric. I like very neutral rooms, so she told me that we would need to include lots of texture. One of the most helpful things she did was to give us recommendations regarding what artwork to use and where to hang it. We had moved into our house less than 3 months before her visit and I was a little overwhelmed deciding where the artwork should go. If we didn't have the appropriate size/color she told us exactly what size and colors we should try to find and where the piece should go. She was also very specific with her recommendations about what furniture to buy. We need an entry table and she suggested a distressed black table 36 inches high and drew a picture of what it should look like. This detail has been very helpful to us in our shopping. I feel that it has prevented us from buying furniture that is too low or too small. I have problems determining proper scale and proportion, and her specific recommendations have really been helpful. She left us with a room by room description (or maybe prescription is a better word) for decorating. She made suggestions on where we might be able to find the products and offered to come with us if we prefer that. Some of the items have been hard to find, but it's so rewarding when we do. We take the notebook containing fabrics, drawings and descriptions with us when we shop. We don't plan to use all of the ideas as some of the colors are not on our preferred list, but the suggestions have been just what I needed to develop a vision and get going. Prior to her visit I just felt overwhelmed with decorating a new house. She helped rearrange the furniture for better traffic flow in the family room and arranged the bookshelves there also. I feel our money was well spent by hiring Sue.

Sue gave us so many great ideas for our home we don't know where to start! We are empty nesters considering down-sizing in the not too distant future. We want to be sure any changes to our home will add to its resale value. Sue actually talked us out of some expensive upgrades saying they weren't needed. Sue also made changes while she was here with rearranging accessories and moving a couple pieces of furniture. Such small changes already make our home look more up to date. I am sure we will call on Sue when it comes time to go furniture shopping.

We can now execute everything on our own time/budget.

Sue came into my home and we went room by room. Ahead of time she even checked out my Pinterest page, so she had an idea what I liked. After going through each room we sat down with bags of fabric and paint samples. When she was done I was left with ideas for every single room. I now have book with paint colors, fabric, rug, lamps, bedding, photo gallery/picture layouts and so much more. She even went through pieces in my storage I was not using and incorporated it in the home and moved some furniture around for me - gave the rooms such a different feel. Well worth it.

I was very satisfied with Sue's consultation. She gave me a lot of great ideas for decorating and painting, and I expect to use many of them. She also suggested a number sources of inexpensive fabrics and other items, and I was glad to have this information.

Moved into a larger home last year and needed new furniture but I was stuck. Sue came in and helped me put an interior plan together that I could complete on my own time and budget.

I got some pieces from her. I don't know that we were a perfect match style wise.
