The technician arrived earlier than scheduled (between 2 and 5), so early that there were no adults there (just my teens), but he waited outside until the scheduled time when an adult got there. He found and fixed the problem, which was a clogged hose, within 1/2 hour. I was so relieved, the A/C is kind of old and I was afraid he'd say I needed a new one. I was very pleased and would call Residential again. The only hitch was that they didn't have an opening for several days, so I had to choose to either go without A/C during the recent 90+ degree days or keep mopping up the basement several times a day.
Description of Work: My central air conditioner was leaking big puddles coming out from under the furnace.

They were down to earth and direct and they didn't oversell. They were really nice to deal with. The only thing was that they kind of dropped the ball on getting it inspected and approved. but they did take care of it and make it right.

Timely, attention to detail, willing to answer all my questions. Came back when I converted from heat to air to make sure I understood how everything worked. I got 2 other bids and they were the best priced. They actually installed my heater (which was the problem at the time) within a week of their estimate date because it was very cold then. They helped me process my utility reimbursement claim. Friendly, courteous and respectful.

We chose Residential over two other contractors. John was nice, but lacked the knowledge that other salesmen had about the equipment. Eric was excellent, very intent on doing a good install. Listened carefully to future remodeling plans so furnace would work with them. Electric wired into 3 outlets (not code). Installation took two days. The furnace didn't work right away. Eric called for help, couldn't fix it that day. He said Renee would call within a day to set up a repair appointment. The AC worked, but caused the unit to whistle loudly. Eric said that was normal for Goodman products. The house and yard weren't left very clean. Renee didn't call for 3 days. We had to lobby for an appt. because the forecast had low-40 nights (we have a baby). Louie was great--fixed the whistling sound (door wasn't sealed), replaced the circuit board. Everything has worked great, and we are very pleased with the outcome. However, it took a lot of work to get things done right.
Description of Work: Replaced existing 50-year old furnace with high efficiency furnace and central air from Goodman. Work took 2 full days. One-man team. Electrician was the only sub-contractor. Salesman: John. Installer: Eric. Business: Renee. Service man - Louie?

It was a very positive experience. The technician described everything very clearly and accurately. He also gave me several options, which he also described in a very helpful manner. Finally, he did some very minor repair work to my gas fire place for no additional labor cost, which I greatly appreciated.
Description of Work: My furnace wasn't working correctly. It would only burn for a few seconds at a time. The technician quickly identified the issue and fixed the problem. He also identified that my heat exchanger was damaged and needed to be replaced.

The serviceman who arrived was a furnace genius - an old guy who has seen everything. He diagnosed the problem in 10 minutes (tricky interaction with air exchanger). He then took out the blower, lubricated and put it back. I think a less honest person might have tried to sell us a new blower or new furnace. He was quite friendly, and shared what he was doing and why. I was very impressed.

Outstanding job. Residential had the best combination of price and the right attack plan to fix our multi-level, multi-temperature, heating problem. The salesman (John) did a couple visits and called in the co-owner (Chris) to make sure we had everything right. Our installer (Dana?) was a stickler for details. Did a fine job of rerouting gas supply lines that had been put in hodge-podge. Made them all come to a central hub with all shut-offs clearly labeled. Residential had a lot of good advice and identified a couple code issues with the original/previous furnace install. They wanted to make sure that they not only got the sale, but also did things right and that we'd be happy with the results. We're very pleased.

Just before I was going to leave for work, I realized the furnace was not working. I contacted the business around 8:30 a.m. and was told the time slot open was between 1 and 4 p.m. I did not hear anything until around 4:15 when the technician called to say he was just finishing up a job and would be at my place in 45 minutes. He arrived 30 minutes later. He took his overshoes off just inside the door and went to look at the furnace almost immediately. He took about an hour to troubleshoot and replace the bad part. The replacement control module was different than the one I installed 5 years ago and I thought it might not fit. It fit well enough and was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the one I installed 5 years ago.
Description of Work: The repair technician performed some troubleshooting to determine why the furnace was not igniting. He thought the problem was either the relay allowing the gas to flow into the furnace or the electronic control module. He decided to try to control module since it as easier to replace. He guessed correctly. This was the problem. He wasn't sure why he was getting an odd reading from the relay.

I called Residential the morning after our furnace went out, based on Angie's List recommendations. A repair tech, George, was here before 1:00 pm. He narrowed down the problem to a short in the auto igniter, but couldn't pinpoint it. Since our furnace was 27 years old, and we had an 11-day-old baby and needed heat ASAP, we decided to replace the furnace. George explained all the options, and went out of his way to arrange for someone to install a new furnace that afternoon. The installer, Jack, "temped in" the unit and got it running and hauled away the old furnace, and he said someone would call to arrange for getting the new one permanently installed. The office called as promised and set up the return time, but that morning they called again and asked if it would be okay to postpone for another day, as another customer was without heat--which was fine, as we'd been in the same boat a few days before! Everyone was professional, courteous, and responsive--highly recommended!!!

After receiving quotes from 6 HVAC companies, I chose Residential (1) for their reputation and terms (12-mos no payments) and (2) because they sold Carrier and had a competitive quote. Chris Kahlstrom did the initial and subsequent site visits and was instrumental. Brent and Eric completed the installation in two days and were efficient and tidy. They worked with no guidance from me, that was my mistake. When all was done, a return was too low and heat run ducting interfered with future basement-finishing plans. There was also an issue with my 12-months no-payment plan. Somehow I was enrolled in the 12-months no-interest plan and had to make the first payment at the last minute before it was straightened out. The owner Dean, with the aid of Chris Kahlstrom and secretary Ann, addressed all my concerns, reimbursed overnight charges for the last-minute payment, sent me a Best Buy gift card for the trouble and direct ducted the furnace at no charge as an added courtesy. A+!
Description of Work: Install Carrier MVB Infinity high-efficiency furnace with passive healthy climate filtration system and Aprilaire whole-house humidifier, remove old unit heater and install heat runs and return in basement game room, install additional return in family room, and install 35000 BTU garage heater with gas line and B-vent.

The sales rep. (John) came in to explain exactly what should be done, how long it would take, and why he suggested the unit that he did. I went with the Lennox 94% variable speed furnace. He was extremely patient and made sure that I fully understood what he was talking about. I had gotten two other bids and they were the lowest and the one I felt most comfortable using. The installation went very smoothly. They made sure to put down throws and were very good about cleaning up. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. I had another service for my old furnace and am now switching to Residential.

The job was to replace both the furnace and the A/C. The bid was very competitive, and the job was completed on time, and they were very professional.
Description of Work: I got a few bids on the job. The bid from Residential Heating was the most competitive. The differences were more than 10%. The job was completed in one day as scheduled. I am very impress with their work. When there was a slight glitch with the inspection, the installed fuse has a higher amp than the one recommended for the A/C, Residential Heating took care of the problem quickly. According to the city inspector, it was not a problem, except, it may provide an avenue for insurance companies to deny claims in the future.

They actually had a very difficult installation and managed it without a lot of problems. They caused some damage to the floor (some damage was probably inevitable given the difficulty), but they paid for the repair. They didn't volunteer to pay for it, and we had to follow up quite a bit to get it, but once we had the estimate to them, they reimbursed us within 2 weeks.

The furnace fan wasn't working. When Residential came to repair, they discovered that the Lennox furnace was one that had been recalled several years ago and should have been replaced, with the furnace replaced at no cost, but labor paid by the homeowner. Residential installed the new unit and charged just the labor portion. They were prompt, clear about problems and solutions, did what they said they were going to do, did it for the amount originally quoted. The work required both an installer and electrician so it took a full day. A short in the furnace fuse box the following day required a call, but the electrician came right over and repaired the problem, which involved existing fuse box and not work they had done, and this visit was no charge.

I found Residential on Angie's List and am so glad I checked! John (sales rep) explained furnace/ac systems to me better than anyone had to make sure I understood my purchase. He gave his honest opinions on the products. He listened to my future expansion needs, then incorporated that into the size quoted. The price was top notch, way below my others and for a better system! I got the top grade Lennox 94% efficiency furnace and high-SEER AC, threw in the air cleaner and programmed thermostat, no charge. The nice service guy, Jack was definitely a furnace guy, but you're paying for maintenance, not conversational skill, right? He was super nice and respectful, no mess in the house at all. After doing most of the furnace work the first day, there was a gas leak that night and I had to call Centerpoint. They sent another technician to check the job over the next day. Once completed, everything was perfect! I love the new system and (sans leak) was a great experience for this *expletive*!
Description of Work: Replaced furnace, air conditioning unit, and all related sheet metal and gas line work in a single family home with pre-existing forced air. Included removal of the old units, and re-venting the gas water heater, installation of programmable thermostat. The salesman that came out to do the bid wasted a lot of my time. I just wanted a quick estimate, but he spent about half an hour describing to me and doing a hard sell on a furnace with a variable speed blower. Then when he actually went down and looked at my basement, he said that type of furnace wouldn't actually work with my ductwork. He ended up giving me a bid for a standard furnace which he scratched out the bid with a pencil on paper. Not only was it higher than the other bids, it was practically illegible. As he left my house, he also gave me unsolicited advice about my personal safety. I did not end up going with them for the job.

The repairman was scheduled between 11am and 2pm. At 1:45 he called and said he was leaving the shop, which is 10 miles away from my house.
