Residential Heating & Air Conditioning

After reviewing Angie's List comments, I rang up Residential Heating and Cooling for an estimate to replace the central AC in my home. The sales representative showed up on time/schedule and was friendly and professional. He answered all the questions I had about the details of the products they offered, permits needed, length of time for the work, etc., and promptly returned my follow up phone calls. They were my second choice based on price, availability and the internal components of the AC unit they planned to install. In short, I could get a unit with slightly higher level components installed more quickly at a bit better price going with a competing firm.

It went really well. Bill and Billie were very professional. Bill was very knowledgeable in what he was doing. They gave us good advice on general maintenance tips.

The owner of the company bid the job and seemed honest with no attempt to sell us bogus stuff and no hard core sales tactics. He gave the impression of knowing his stuff. Workers Dana and Scott were polite, on time, unobtrusive, and did very nice work. They thoroughly cleaned up after each day's work. They weren't bothered when the kitten climbed into the attic. Total install took a week and we are very happy with the new furnace & A/C-both are MUCH quieter and more efficient than our old ones.

I have no idea whether this was necessary, they didn't discover a ventilation problem with one vent.

It went well. I got quotes from the top 5 furnace and air contractors listed on Angie' List. The sales rep, John Pearson was great. I decided to go with another contractor, but it was a tough choice. Residential had the second most competitive quote and John knew his stuff.

Very punctual and thorough. They installed my furnace, ac and duct work in 2006 - they do an amazing job at a very good price.

They did a good job. They were very easy to work with and the price was reasonable. They arrive on time for the job. I would use them again and recommend them in the future.

I called early in the morning because my furnace hadn't been on the previous night. Renee had a pretty full service schedule for the day, but she was able to juggle a few things and fit me into for same day service. The technician called before he came out to let me know he was on the way - he actually arrived a few minutes early which was nice! My problem was a simple one which the technician was able to diagnose and resolve fairly quickly. He talked to me a little about my furnace and showed me a couple things to check if it ever did happen again. He was polite and very professional. I'd gladly use Residential Heating and Air again in the future for my service needs.

They came in cheaper than others with a good brand. They gave a lot of rebates. They were knowledgeable. The guy installing it did a good quality job. They were very conscientious. The sales guy that came out here didn't measure so when we bought a high efficiency air conditioner it didn't fit and we had to choose our new air conditioner in one night.

They showed up to give me a quote when I asked them to, and knowing it was my fourth estimate, provided the quote quickly and efficiently. I asked for duct cleaning before the new furnace and AC was installed, they did it the Friday before the install was scheduled the following Monday/Tuesday. Other companies claimed to be able to complete the job in one day, but I doubted they could. Residential said it would take two days, and they were right. The only problem we ran into was to get the outside air temperature; I didn't like how they did it initially. They reworked it with no hesitation just the way I wanted it. This was a tough install due to the location and access, they did a nice job!

They were very professional, they were very nice, and they were very capable and competitively priced. I would use them again in the future for any job.

My experience with with them was about 4-5. They came when they said they were going to. There were some discrepiencies. We called them on a couple of things. I would recommend them and use them again.

Provided exactly what we needed at a very reasonable price. Other companies charged much more for additional services that seemed to be "overkill."

We had a cracked heat exchanger and decided to get a whole new furnace. We had a credit with this company through a real estate company. John came and sat down with us to explain our options for furnaces. He was patient and very good at answering all of our questions. We are new home owners so we had a lot of them! The actual scheduling of the furnace installation was a little off since John doesn't schedule (possibly also because of the holiday weekend) - he lets the scheduler know we are ready and they contact us when they can. The furnace was installed, but we had to wait until the next day for the electrician to come and connect it, which we were not aware of until we paid. In our case it worked out because we could be home, but it would have been helpful to know ahead of time for planning purposes. We feel we got a good product at a fair price in an acceptable time frame, and we learned a lot about furnaces in the process.

The duct cleaning is apparently done by another company, possibly a subsidiary (612-729-9151). Their site claims a 2007 Super Service Award and membership in a business rating company. I found this a little confusing, because while Residential Heating and Air is well rated on Angie's list and belongs to the business rating company, the other company does not belong to the business rating company and is not rated on Angie's list. You cannot access it on Angie's list using the given number and the business rating company brings it up as a non member. The confusion almost led me to cancel the appointment. Nevertheless, the work was completed professionally and I have no complaints. The service representative gave me some good suggestions and seemed thorough in his work.

The guy was very honest with me. He would offer me an up-sale and if I didn't want it he would respect that. He made recommendations on how to take care of things myself. They were very fast. They definitely knew what they were doing.

From meeting with the company representative for an estimate to the completion of the job, all of the individuals were courteous, professional and helpful. The job was completed in a clean and timely manner. Whenever there were questions, answers were provided quickly. The support staff at their office was also friendly and responsive.

John provided us with a bid to install a new furnace and air conditioner. They had the lowest bid, but we decided to go with another bidder with a similar price that also offered financing and would fill out the rebate paperwork for us. John was on time, knowledgeable and seemed to have all the information he needed at his fingertips. He did not do heat loss calculations, but because of his vast experience still came up with the same sizing as the other bidder. John spent about an hour meeting with me, but I felt a bit like he was "phoning it in". He said he had been to over 22,000 houses over the course of his career and I kind of felt like 22,001 instead of like a potential valued customer. Perhaps he had just had a long week.

Service rep arrived exactly on time. Found ducts extremely dirty. Also cleaned furnace pipes (which had dead birds in it) and hot water heater vents. Service rep gave me considerable advice (needed to replace chimney cap - provided info on part from local store; also discussed how I should clean A/C unit by myself; info on furnace filters). They were very professional. I would strongly recommend this company; they were superior to the group I contracted to clean ducts in my own home sometime earlier.

Everything worked out well. I would say there was some miscommunication between the company and their abatement company. Overall, they were very willing to work with us to provide an effective system.

I have used them before. They are accommodating and helpful. They are my first choice for any air conditioning work. They are very customer orientated. They have responded very quickly after I call. They are very nice people and they are easy to work with.

The salesman was very good. He gave us a very very healthy discount for being and Angie's list member. The people that came out and installed the systems did everything they only needed help carrying it in, there were a few things that needed to be gone over again because of the complex situation and they did a really good job on clean up. And they offered me a free air sweep on all the ducts.

They were very punctual and reliable. Their estimate was dead on. They called to follow up and make sure that the problem was resolved. It was A+ service.

They were very good. I had gotten several bids and they could do the whole job for what I wanted. Some places wouldn't do water heaters and furnaces. They did it so it was all at once and on one bill.

It was the best service I think I've ever had. Bill and Billy Conyers helped us and they were thorough and very fast.
