Residential Heating & Air Conditioning

I originally requested only to have my air ducts and dryer vent cleaned, but Bill Sr. told me nothing had ever been cleaned (the house is almost 50 years old and we've lived in it for 4 years) and said there was a discount involved to add services as long as he was there so I added the furnace chimney, air conditioner and water heater. He said they found a bird's nest in the dryer vent (extra cost to remove) and a dead bird in the chimney. They will save me money over the long run by sharing the type of filter to use in our furnace which is cheaper to use than what we've been using thus far. I'm hoping the amount of dust we have will be reduced now.

They bent over backwards to get this unit repaired in as short of period of time as possible. Even very professionally dealt with my mistakes regarding appointment time.

Chris came out promptly to evaluate the situation. He said the previous owners had put in top of the line, high efficiency Carrier mechanicals back in '94. The air unit was a '99 model. He said he wouldn't replace them. They're still good and recommended that I wait. I still could get many years out of them. I appreciate his honesty! I plan on living here for a long time, so in the mean time, I'll call his company for regular servicing of the Carrier equipment and I'm sure I'll have them install new when I need it.

Everyone was great, but I am concerned about one detail. I was told there might be a crack in the heat exchanger. A second person was sent out from Residential who confirmed the crack, "red tagged" the furnace and then gave an estimate on furnace replacement. For good measure I also called CenterPoint Energy out to take a look (since I have Service Plus). CenterPoint said that, while the furnace was old and would eventually need replacement, there was no crack and removed the red tag. Now, that's a bit disconcerting. Makes me think that while the service seemed good, I'll likely not use Residential again.

Sales rep (Scott) called to let me know he was on his way before the scheduled appt. and let me know he was running a little late. He arrived when expected after the phone call. I appreciated the phone call to let me know. I received 5 estimates for this job. Scott was the most knowledgeable and helpful sales rep I met with. He even helped with fixing an air flow problem in my vents while doing his estimate. I really wanted to purchase from him. The Infinity Carrier product offered was my favorite of the ones I looked at. It was the highest rated using an average from various rating sources. I chose not to use this company based on the A/C warranty being only 2 years labor and 5 years parts compared to others with 10 years labor and parts. Additionally, the price was the 2nd most expensive of the five quotes received.

The flyer they mailed says get AC installed for 500.00 when you buy best furnace, well they tell you to buy basic model AC that don't match up then they max out prices other dealers still beat their price.There pick in inst the AC they offer false advertising.

They did an excellent job. They were prompt, they cleaned up their mess and then they pointed us in the direction on how to get our rebate.

The project went exactly as planned. The estimator and installer were prompt, and the furnace worked with no problems through the past winter. Resdiential Heating also directly submitted the utility and manufacturer rebates as well.

Our primary interest was in getting direct-vented appliances to reduce the number of make-up air holes we needed with the old appliances for our very tight (MAC noise-reduced) home. We can't say enough about the high quality and professionalism of all of the people we dealt with from this company, starting with their excellent salesperson, Gerry. He explained our options so clearly, and addressed all the different detailed questions and concerns we had about this big job. Ordinarily for something this big we would absolutely have gotten several bids. But after Gerry's excellent presentation and after finding out that ALL of the technicians in the company were NATE certified, something which is highly recommended, we chose to go with Residential. The person who did the installation on the furnace was fabulous. Prompt, careful, courteous, and knowledgeable. He left the area looking better than he found it. We have such confidence in the new furnace, in large part because of his professionalism. The air conditioner installers did a wonderful job, too. An adhesive they needed to use was affected by temperature and so they had to come back the next day, and did so at the time they specified. The duct cleaning went very well, again with prompt arrival, and no dust. The dryer vent cleaning person was amazing, and boy did we get an education on how to treat our laundry and dryer! The water heater installers (I believe subs) were very knowledgeable too and answered our questions. The did a great job with the installation, but weren't quite as neat with the clean up as we would have liked. This was promptly rectified with a call from us that was courteously and professionally received. There was a bit of a loose end with some minor confusion about some of the old flue pipe needing to be removed and an area capped, but again this was promptly and courteously addressed. In fact they went the extra mile and even replaced a chimney cap for us. Our heating comfort is remarkably better and I'm sure, when summer comes, the AC will be, too. We would give this company our highest recommendation.

The mechanic was on time, and very thorough in seeking to diagnose our furnace. Due to the small working space by the furnace, he had a hard time seeing the unit's cracked heat exchanger, but used a small camera to find the issue (no extra charge). He did this quickly and without complication. Once he recommended furnace replacement, we had lots of questions. He had some trouble answering questions, for instance, explaining the difference between 1-stage vs. a 3-stage furnace, among others. He made a rather shady suggestion that we not do the expensive right thing; we're moving soon anyway- let the homebuyer deal with it. We found these to not inspire confidence, and we sought other estimates, both of which were cheaper. The diagnostic housecall was 149, a little steep in my opinion.

They were here first thing in the morning and did the work the same day. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well. They did a very decent job. We also got pretty good discounts. We got an Angie?s List discount and they waived some initial fees too. We also got a discount on their seasonal sale. We are pretty happy with their service so far.

They showed up on time. They checked the furnace which was in good shape. The air cleaner was causing the air conditioning to go on each time it ran. They checked the wiring of the air cleaner and diagnosed the problem to be with the circuit board. They suggested I contact the original installer as the problem should be covered under warranty. Additionally, they switched off the air conditioning at the circuit box to prevent the problem from reoccurring prior to it being corrected.

On his first trip to my home he did not have all the parts to attach humidifier to my furnace but assured me with the right ones he could install the humidifier properly, He came back the following week and did everything he promised at no additional charge. He left the worksite clean and provided a thorough, easy-to-understand explanation on how to operate the humidifier

I needed a new furnace, and with the energy tax credit was considering also replacing air conditioner. The quote was competitive ($4650 for furnace only or $7545 for both). I went with another provider only because the quotes were almost the same and the other guy worked out how it could be installed first.

They were quite good and I was very pleased with what they did. It was a little expensive. They did excellent work.

Our heater went out right before Thanksgiving and we were planning to have people over and it was a kind of an emergency and they came out right away. They gave us a few options and explained what they did and managed to get everything hooked up the same day. I was really pleased with them. We had them out again for a follow up cleaning and tune up.

Installation went very well. Though Residential Heating indicated to us that installation may require a second day, their installers completed the installation within one day. They did a complete replacement of the original HVAC system in our home, and did a very nice jub of cleaning up after themselves.

Both Bills (Sr and Jr) arrived early--after calling in advance--and immediately got to work. They explained exactly what they would be doing to clean the ducts, brought tarps in to lay over the new carpet, and overall were very professional. Bill Sr took the extra time to go over regular maintenance things we should either do ourselves (e.g., change furnace filters monthly; clean air exchange filters regularly; etc.) or have professionally done at certain intervals to keep everything working well. While they were out, we also had them clean the dryer vent and clean the chimney--neither of which had been done since we moved into the home. Overall, they provided great service and solid advice, and we were very satisfied w/ the overall job.

They gave me a quote with no hidden fees. A one month later, after they had done the installation, there was a leak in the air conditioner and they came out and fixed it at no extra charge. They were prompt and I was very happy with their service.

The tech showed up on time and was professional and efficient. There were extra charges for the hot water heater and dryer vent, but they seemed reasonable so I went ahead. He also showed me how to adjust the furnace fan so I could use a $2 filter instead of a $50 filter. In the weeks that followed I did not notice less dust in the house . Also it was a little chilly and I couldnt hear the fan running. I called and asked them to recheck it. They were able to send someone out at 8am the next morning (again he arrived precisely on time) and he showed me that the fan was working even though it was very quiet, and he discovered that my thermostat was set to go down to 62 at night. He was very nice about coming a second time, adjusting the thermostat and reassuring me that all was working well. This is a very service driven company that I will use again in the future.

Woke up to house at 50 degrees and furnace not responding. Followed Owner's Manual instructions to restart without success. Called for service (1st experience). Renee was very polite, straightforward and graciously accepted the Angie's List coupon. George, the field serviceman, phoned within 5 minutes and arrived within an hour, confirmed the ignition failure and completed the replacement and tuneup within 45 minutes. The price was quite fair for the circumstances. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

George came out and was right on time, and very courteous and knowledgeable. After spending 5 to 10 minutes looking over the furnace he diagnosed the problem (blocked condensation trap) and began the fix. While inside the furnace, he also found some parts that hadn't been attached correctly and had fallen off, which he reinstalled and secured correctly. The entire process took just over an hour, which included testing time to be sure it was working consistently. Overall I was very impressed with his knowledge and his ability to almost instantly diagnose the issue and begin the repair, and the price was great.
