They were fantastic.  The man that came out explained a lot to me that I didn’t know about my heating system.  He did a really good job of cleaning my system and put in an anti-fungal  to keep the mold away.

I thought the individual who came to my house was quite knowledgeable, professional and upbeat for an early Monday morning appointment.  He was at my house for over one hour to try to determine what the issue was on my AC unit.  He was able to figure out that it was a timing switch within the unit.  The AC is now working great.  I would definitely use this company again!

When we bought this house we didn’t notice that the A/c was 2.4unit and the condenser was 2unit and so we had to call them to match it exactly. They did the matching correctly and they two unit was put together properly and also I had someone inspect that to make sure that was correctly done. They did a beautiful job. I would rate them high overall. They came out quickly and gave us very nice estimate and were very clear about what they were going to do. We chose them because they had the right price for us and they did the work for us to get the rebates back. They kept everything clean and I didn’t have to worry about anything. They also reinstalled the tube and copper tubing and made sure that it was packed up into the ceiling so that it wasn’t hanging in the way. They really did a very good job. I would use them again in the future if needed.

My AC went out right before a major heat wave (of course) so I called for service.  I was told the cost would be $149 for the service call which included the first hour of labor and then the cost of any parts on top of that.  They could get out in two days to take a look at it.  I figured the time line was more than reasonable given the fact that it was the first heat wave of the season and I knew they were very busy.

At the time the tech was scheduled to be at my house he called to let me know he was on the way.  The tech was very personable and professional.  I took him to the A/C unit and in no time he had diagnosed the issue as a bad capacitor.  He got a new one from his truck and installed in short order.  This all took about 15 minutes or so.  He also said the the unit really needed to be cleaned and I agreed.  He asked if he could use my garden hose so while he was replacing the capacitor, I got the hose.  He took about 10 minutes to hose the unit down.  If this was all there was to the story I would have given them an A and definitely recommend them, but unfortunately this is where it took a turn.

Later when I was reviewing the bill I noticed that not only had I been charged for the service call ($149) which I was told included an hour of labor and the part ($121) but I had also been charged $182 for "washing condenser".  So having them use my garden hose for 10 minutes cost me $182.  That is just dishonest.  Given that the entire call took only a half hour, that comes out to a labor rate of $662/hr!  I understand that there are a lot of variables to this kind of service work and charging an hour minimum makes perfect sense, but to double dip like they did is just crooked.

It was a good experience - Edward was professional and knowledgable.  I did not get multiple quotes so I don't have reference points on price - the replacement part was the majority of the cost of the service.  I was able to use an Angie's List coupon for this provider.

We purchased a bank-owned property at the end of March.  Not being from the Twin Cities, we weren't familiar with HVAC contractors so we joined Angie's List to research various companies.  We identified 5 "A" rated companies and contacted each of them for bids.  Each company was giving the same job requirements and was told the contract would be awarded to the lowest, responsive bidder.  The companies were allowed one week to prepare bids. To minimize costs, the removal of the old feeder pipes and remaining radiators and boxing in of ductwork was done by us. As the work was being performed during a slow time of the year, Residential came in with a great bid.  The installer, Jack, was able to start the day after the bid was awarded. Jack respected the integrity of our older home and worked with us to route the ductwork in the most unobtrusive manner possible.  He was able to preserve the built-in cabinets that were on the 2nd floor and followed the path taken by the old feeder pipes wherever possible.   Even though the house was basically a construction zone, Jack cleaned up after himself every day. One learning out of the process was that it is critical to allow enough time for the inspection process by the City of St Paul. To say we are pleased with the work done by Residential would be an understatement.

Polite on the phone.  Knowledgable, asked the right questions about my house, and gave me a hard price over the phone.  Flexible in timing for install.  The tech was really a good guy - very professional, friendly, and did a great job on the install.  I likely will use them again to install my AC this summer.

Chris from Residential Heating and Air Conditioning was awesome.  He was right on time, very personable and professional, and was clearly knowledgeable about and experienced with all aspects of HVAC systems.  He was thorough and careful in his work, and in cleanup afterword.  Chris explained things that he was doing in a way that I could easily understand and he offered many helpful tips for things that I could do to help maintain my system and keep our house safe (including stuff that no one else, including handimen, furnace repairmen, etc., had ever suggested to us before).  Our air ducts had not been cleaned in at least eight years (and maybe longer, since that is the date we moved into the house), plus we had two registers with airflow problems.  Chris was very helpful in opening up an internal ducting flue for one of the registers (yay!  now my bathroom isn't so cold!) and explained exactly how I could deal with the other register (which he himself did not do as it would have involved cutting into our carpet, but he explained to me exactly how I could remedy the situation, so now I feel confident about doing it myself).  Chris  also was very careful about sealing up holes on our duct work, including ones that he found in the ducts in our crawlspace (he worked hard!).  Chris also checked and reported on the condition of our furnace chimmney, water heater and its chimmney, dryer vent, and fireplace and was quite realistic in his recommendations for those areas, explaining that they were all in good shape, but also telling me what to watch for in the future.  Chris had a great "can do" attitude, and clearly enjoys and is knowledgeable about his work.  I also really appreciated his carefulness and thoroughness -- for example, when he was removing one of the troublesome register covers he carefully cut around it so that the wall paint would not peel.   We had a Mpls Tribune "steal" coupon worth $100  that we had purchased for $40, so what normally would have cost $189.95 (without tax added on)  was really 89.95 + 40.00 + tax = 136.49 -- honestly, it would have been worth the full price.  Finally, when we had originally called to make the appointment, the scheduler was very helpful in helping us determine which level of service we should get (and did not push us to get the most expensive, but was realistic in matching our needs to what they offered), plus was very good about scheduling at a time that was perfect for us.

Overall it went fine. Initially the sales rep ordered me incorrect locations for where our vents would be. Definitely their people knew what they were talking about as far as people who actually did the work.

Prior to the service, we removed all of the vent covers.  The technician, Chris R., arrived on time and was personable, hard working, and knowledgeable.  (He was actually a joy to have around.)  He started cleaning the heat registers and worked his way to the return vents.  There was a bit of blow back due to the uniqueness of our venting system, but he vacuumed it up for us. Chris explained to us any issues he saw and answered all our questions thoroughly.  Our home duct system hadn't been cleaned in 10 years and what a difference this cleaning made. The house even smells fresher while less dust is accumulating!  It was worth every penny. We will definitely continue to refer people to Residential Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.  We are so very pleased!  (The price we quoted above is $359.95 for the cleaning plus Anoka County tax of $25.64)

I was terribly frighted that my underground (transite) heating ducts had collapsed (based on noises and airflow). I chose Residential because they had a duct camera, quick response time, and were reasonably priced. The serviceman was extremely knowledgable, patient and calming, and kept busy for the full diagnostic hour I paid for. Thankfully the ducts were okay. He also advised as to potential furnace and A/C maintenance needs but did not force services on me. I would rehire in an instant.

Pros: -They were very professional. -Installation was high quality. -They were flexible on price. -They were able to install the day after I said I wanted their service. -Our furnace came with a 10 year warranty. Advice in Dealing with them: -Make sure you know the details of what you're agreeing too. We had a misunderstanding where we thought they would be replacing the humidifier and installing a thermostat that could control humidity, as well as temperature, but sure enough on the document we signed it said reinstall old humidifier. It wasn't a big deal, the old one still works fine and they performed the scope of work I signed for perfectly. Their sales pitch is so slick that unless you go with their top-of-the-line model, it's worth clarifying which features you are getting and which features you are not getting. Overall: They are a great contractor. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new furnace or a/c.

They did a good job and the guy that came worked very hard. They didn't charge to remove the old furnace. We actually had an old incinerator that we hadn't used for about 20 years and they took all of that out free of charge. The guy that came was very diligent and cleaned up everything. He was very pleasant to speak with. I learned that I don't want to install furnaces because it was a lot of work. He was here about 2 1/2 days and it included hauling out the old one by himself and hauling out the old air conditioner. We had met the company at a home show. He was very good and very professional. He was a great guy. He was very respectful and worked all day. He asked if I wanted him to leave and come back the next day or he could continue working. Other people came out to test his performance and they send reminders. We will absolutely continue to use them.

The salesperson we spoke with, who explained the system to me, took a lot of time and helped me understand the differences between variable speed and non-variable speed furnace blowers. The installation took two days. We had expected one, but it was not a problem since we did have heat the whole time. The evening of the first installation day, a connection came apart and the furnace was not heating. They came out immediately to get it up and running. The person who tested and explained the system answered my many questions. The duct cleaner provided helpful advice about both the furnace ducts and about other things that needed maintenance (and that I could do myself) - particularly the dryer vent. The furnace provides more consistent heat than our older furnace because it has the variable speed blower. The new furnace is almost silent - this is a HUGE improvement over our older one (a noisy Lennox model). The ability to adjust humidity has also greatly improved quality of life in the dry winter months. We will be able to evaluate the central air in the summer.

They have come out about three times. They had come and fixed some things that your original installer had messed up. They had to come out again to fix the furnace as my son had damaged it.

I called to get my A/C air ducts and dryer vent cleaned. On the phone, the receptionist gave me an estimate of about $360 for a cleaning and germicide treatment. Since I just moved into this house and have allergies, I signed up for this service. When Bill arrived though, it grew to over $700. I was taken aback...but paid. Now that I have read the other reviews, I feel I have been duped. I felt the quality of the cleaning was good, but see now that others were shown by camera the result...I was not offered that verification. I rated them lower in professionalism due to the house being left quite dirty. Bill was too quick to blow air into the vents; when I wanted to pause to cover things; he assured me it would not get things dusty...but it does...really dusty!! I think he just didn't want to take the time. Overall both techs were knowledgable...but I think there could have been (1) less mess/cleanup for me and (2) clearer, more reasonable pricing. Bill was in too much of a rush, didn't seem to respect my home...and I suspect the bait and switch on the price (from $350 to $700) is a common practice for him/them. Would never use again.

The estimator came out and gave me a fair estimate. He was willing to negotiate on the price and put in a good system. They seemed to be okay. I had used them for duct cleaning a couple of months earlier. So I needed to get a new furnace. I chose them because they had some manufacturer rebates and also the energy product. So I did it then instead of later because the rebates expire at a certain time. I think the system is doing what it is supposed to do. I have got no complaints yet. There is one possible adjustment I want them to have a look at, but I trust that they would respond to that when I am ready for it. I would consider them in the future too.

We hired this company to do an extreme duct cleaning after doing a lot of research on several companies who do this type of work. We have two furnaces in our home, so a lot of other companies wanted to charge us double the cost of a duct cleaning for just one furnace and charge us per vent. We chose Residential Heating and Air Conditioning based on the Angie's List Reviews. The two gentlemen who performed the duct cleaning were prompt (they arrived about halfway through the 4-hr window of our appointment), thorough and very knowledgeable. The ducts hadn't been cleaned in our home for at least 15 years, so the job took 2.5 hours, but we weren't charged any more than the price quoted to us when we made the service appointment. We were offered a dryer vent cleaning and chimney cleaning for an additional charge (but at a great price). We decided against the dryer vent cleaning, but we asked to have the chimney cleaned. The gentleman who looked at our chimney noticed signs of the brick disintegrating, so he recommended not having the chimney cleaned in case it would make the problem worse. He was very informative about the problem and even got out a special camera to show my husband and I the area of concern.

It went pretty good overall. One of the servicemen had me look into the airduct to see what they were doing. I was asked if I wanted an additional service in cleaning the dryer but we didn't want that and he didn't pressure me either so that was good.

I was able to get a quote over the phone and schedule the installation in one phone call. Edward called me about 30 minutes prior to his scheduled arrival to let me know he was on his way. He spent about an 1-1/2 hours doing the install and another 20 minutes explaining, in detail, how the system worked and what kind of things to watch for while running the system. He was extremely professional and polite and throughly cleaned up when he was finished. Overall, a great experience. Residential Air had the best price of the 5 companies I called, but $550 still seems a bit high - which is why I rated the price at a B. I will definitely use them again, though. They were very good.

Residential replaced an outdated gravity furnace with a high efficiency furnace, installed central air, and custom-built all new ducts across the basement ceiling to connect to the ducts that run through the house. The work was done a year ago and we've had a full year using both the furnace and A/C and everything works great. We had a large, old gravity furnace in our unfinished basement, which Residential contracted out to remove. The person from Residential who installed the new furnace, ductwork, and central A/C was a seasoned pro and thanks to his experience (and a lot of creativity), we now have all new ducts in the basement that fit well with our planned basement renovations. The installer, Jack, was impeccable. He spent time with us, asking us questions about our plans, and suggested a variety of options and the pros and cons of the different options. He was always willing to answer questions and give advice. His level of expertise and many years of experience installing systems in old homes was clear and very much appreciated. We can't praise him enough, his work was exemplary. We were new homeowners at the time and this was the first project on the house; it was a relief to know that we were in good hands. Chris, the person who visited the house, determined what was needed, and provided the bid was also knowledgeable and pleasant. We invited three contractors to bid - his recommendations were great and he even provided the solution to a problem we had with determining how to run a return through the house. During the installation, he took extra steps to make sure we were getting the right system; he visited to take additional measurement and advised that we insulate our attic as soon as possible. The only improvement in the process from our perspective was when we first scheduled Residential to visit the house and provide a bid - the person who came out wasn't able to provide a bid, he may have been more on the sales side. At that time, we did not yet own the home and had made arrangements via our realtor to be in the house, taken time off, etc. We had to reschedule Residential's visit to get a representative who could provide a bid, which was inconvenient. That said, we were glad we did.
