NOT RECOMMENDED. We have been with this company for nearly 8 years. Every 2 years the price doubles. I then call and tell them I am leaving, and then they will give me a slightly reduced price. Finally I was sick of dealing with them so I cancelled. They did not offer to give me a discounted price. After they came to pick up their bins, they charged me $94.78 to pick them up, can you believe that!??? Do not use this service.

If you have the misfortune of your local trash hauler being sold to Republic, do your best to find a different carrier. Our local carrier was purchased by Republic, we received no notice about the sale, they stopped picking up our trash....even though we've paid our quarterly bill, told us "getting rid of the old company's can is our problem, not theirs".....lied to us about the delivery date of a new can and now I've been lied to by 3 different supervisors, the last one who told me she'd call me back to try and resolve my issue and.....surprise! She never called me back. My Mom is going through the same thing in Plymouth and the customer service person actually told her "you should rent a truck from Menards and bring your trash to one of our locations" even though she's paid for service through August. Unreal. Just wanted to share the frustration so that Republic can be avoided at all costs.

As a Golden Valley resident, we're forced to use Republic for our organics recycling program. In the six weeks since the program began, Republic has missed 3 of the 6 weekly pickups... While I strongly support organics recycling, Republic is unable to deliver anything close to reliable service. I hope the City will strongly reconsider using a different provider when the current contract is up for renewal.

Customer beware! This company raises their prices 1-2x per year. Literally any other trash company will be cheaper! I used them for their recycling, but very little is being recycled nowasdays due to low commodity prices and China not accepting it. When you go to cancel, they will charge you for an extra month of service. They will also charge you $50 PER container when you cancel. They’ll also charge $10 for Fuel to pick up your containers when you cancel! Save yourself some money, use any other company!

Our recycling service was missed on Monday, 8/17/20. I called to report the missed service and was told to put our recycling back to the curb and it would be picked up today. It was not picked up. I was told by customer service that I would be able to reach them until 7pm CST today to report the missed service. They lied and were closed at 5:10pm. Terrible service!!!

Republic services was charging me more than double the cost of other garbage removal service companies (shame on me for not figuring it out earlier). When I called to cancel, they offered a price less than their competitors. I foolish stayed. It took almost 6 months and numerous calls to get the new price effective. We had a number of other issues requiring calls and wasted time. I'm very glad to be done doing business with this company.

They frequently skip a house for pick up. The bin is in the street/driveway juncture point and they drive by. This has happened to me and to neighbors. When you call the company they say they will try to reach the driver to come back but they don't come. My neighbor called everyday for them to come back and they always said we'll be out tomorrow and didn't come until the next 2 week regular pickup day. I am still waiting for them to come back to pick up my full overlooked recycling pickup. I am glad they are NOT my garbage hauler.

Republic Services acquired our local provide (Troje's) approximately a year ago. Out of convenience, we made the ill-advised decision to stay with Republic. After a continued price increases, we decided to change providers to a known and local trash hauler. We notified Republic of our decision to change and arranged with them to collect their bins/containers on the last day of service in the billing period. We recently received a bill for $73.44 in which Republic is charging $30 per pin/container along with other fees for local fees. The fees were not disclosed when we originally notified Republic of our decision to change nor we the fees ever disclosed in their quarterly billing. We called the company to discuss the charges and were told that we would be sent to collections should the bill and any subsequent late fees not be paid. Based on lack of customer service/care and excessive billing, we strongly recommend and urge against using Republic Services, Inc. for your trash hauling or any other service. We regret having stayed with them and will not use their services in the future.

My service I requested in late January was set up incorrectly. I requested: 65 gal container - 1/week pickup with a city negotiated rate. I received one 68 gal. container and am getting billed for two 68 gal. containers for twice a week pickups at a much higher rate. I only have one container and one pickup a week. I have called several times during the past two months (which included wait times over 1/2 hr each time) and this problem has never been resolved. It's always been noted and routed to the "appropriate" department. I received another bill with a past due notice and am wondering if it will ever end. I don't think I can use anyone use because our city has contracted them trash pick up.

Garbage and recycling are fine. I have had no billing issues and have always been on auto-pay. Yard waste pick up has been problematic and customer service - UGH. It takes FOREVER to get to a live person by phone and they don't answer e-mail requests. Since last Friday, I've called three times and sent an e-mail. No resolution. Have asked for a refund for missed services. We'll see what happens. I may look elsewhere for services.

Description of Work: Hello. I had this service for my house, and paid all of my bills. The company increased prices abusively about 3 times in a matter of 6-9 month. I called, cancelled, they scheduled container pick up on 3.31, did not show up, and then did show up 1 week later. They are now sending me bills from their collections dept. when my service is already cancelled. I called them about 5 times and was on hold for 15mins each time and finally had to give up. I also sent emails multiple times and received no response. Please DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF. Sign up with someone else.

service was average at best - there were a few times when they didn't show up and I had to call them to pick up and then waited a few more days. The price just went way up and that was the final straw. I can get a much better price elsewhere and from a service that is rated much higher by its customers.

I have used Republic for the past 8 years and have had some bumps along the way. Over the last week and a half I have called them nearly a dozen times to deal with yard waste issues. I watched the truck stop in front of my house and the driver look at my yard waste, pick his clipboard up and drive away. Every time I call them I get the most unfriendly people who act like the company is doing me a favor. Contract is up soon and they are going by the way of my garbage.

they had a problem picking up the recycle bind.got the people across the street ...but forgot to pick up mine.now yes i know.if it happen once ok...but 4 times in less than a year...would call them..of course they would say how sorry they where..and ask if i would put it out the next day..again no pick up..would call them..again they would say how sorry they where...person on the phone would just giggle when i expressed my dissatisfaction..that is poor customer service...fired them on the spot.

We never received the service we requested
Description of Work: Failed to respond to repeated requests for pick-up. Promised to come but never showed up. When contacted again, said they could noit provide service we had requested until mid April and that we had been misinformed. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they said it would not do any good, that I would get the same answer.

Had trash service for 2 years with Republic. Last summer the wheel was broken off of my trash can. Called for replacement --took 2 months and repeated calls to get trash can replaced. Sent a letter to cancel service due to poor service and response to concerns. Republic claims they did not receive my letter of cancellation and complaint. Took many more phone calls and contacts with customer service to get them to pick up their trash cans. Customer service contacts were rude and promised to take action on complaints. Very frustrating to deal with this company.

Cancelled service 2/4/2014 and company continued to send bills and collection agency notices, without responded to three written requests for an explanation (as I was sure I'd paid all fees due through 2/4). Company said their policy was to bill for service for the remainder of the "service period"....meaning the entire month of February, and justified billing for "service not provided" as the explanation was listed on the back of the bill. They didn't explain this to me when I called to cancel -- if they had, I would have kept the service through the end of the month. Additionally, they added a fee to pick up their container....$10 or $15....this was never explained to me either , nor was it agreed to in my original contract/agreement. Bottom line -- they sent payment demand notices that threatened to send the bill to a collection agency -- and I didn't want a mark on my credit report, so I paid it. There are other locally-owned trash hauling companies -- that are much more ethical, customer-service oriented, and lower priced!

After over 2 months of service with Republic, I couldn't be more frustrated. My garbage &/or recycling have been missed (not picked up) consistently every week. Therefore, I've had to call every week. When doing so, one is placed on hold for a very long time or transferred to an automated service in which one can leave the usual details of the problem (waste not being picked up, address, phone #, etc.). Either way, I've been extremely disappointed - the people I've talked to sound very sincere and helpful and assure me that my recycling will be picked up the next day. The next day comes, it's not picked up, and I go through the process Again. There have been two weeks in which I called Every day of the week, told the recycling will be picked up, and Still no service... every day a phone call and assured of service... every day disappointed by no service. I've been told twice that the supervisor has been informed and that they are making sure that my house is on the route. I've also been transferred to customer support (didn't get to talk with them) and left a message explaining my service experience. Unfortunately, I've already pre-paid for 3 months of service and signed a 2 year contract. :-( The garbage has been picked up consistently the last 4 weeks, recycling has been Missed the last 3. I was told this week that my recycling will Now be picked up on a different day than my garbage. .. not ideal, but it would be great to actually get service.. fingers crossed. I would highly recommend reading the other reviews and finding a more reliable service provider.

I was called on 5/18/14 by someone offering me garbage service at a bargain price of $37.89 for three months. After I learned (the next day) that the sales person lied to me about the frequency of the recycling service (every OTHER week), I was not satisfied and called to cancel the service... which was to begin on 10/1/14. On 5/19/14 When I checked my bank account, I learned that they had already charged my account... 4 + months before the service was even to begin! Upon learning that my account was charged, I expected my refund within the typical 3-5 business day period. Not to be!!!! I was told that it would be 6-8 weeks before I would receive the refund!!! How can anyone these days expect a customer to wait that long for a refund for services that were never provided in the first place???? It has now been over 3 months (today is 8/27/14) and after a number of calls to this terrible outfit, I am still waiting for my refund. I called them today and they said that I will need to wait another 5-10 MORE days until I see my refund. .... We shall see... DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR GARBAGE SERVICE, AS THE WORD "SERVICE" IS NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY!!!!

I called in on Wednesday, March 19th to cancel my service on BOTH of my accounts. The lady verified how many containers I had and their sizes. She then went on to tell me that she was surprised that they dropped off that size of yard waste containers because they no longer service them. She promised me that all 4 containers would be picked up the following week. The following week the containers were not picked up. I called in on either the 26th or 27th and the lady I spoke to said that the cans would be picked up the following week. Well, the following week came and went. I called in on Friday, April 4th and was told that I never called in. What a joke! Poor customer service! I left a message for Claude on that Friday and I never heard back from him. I called and canceled within the 3 days that I had to cancel both of my accounts. I emailed on April 9th and never heard back from anyone. I tried calling on April 14 and sat on hold for 15 minutes. I finally gave up. I then emailed the company again and received an email on the 15th stating they took care of the problem. Well, my garbage cans were still there. I then emailed again and on the 17th, and their email stated someone would contact me. I didn't hear from someone until the 24th. It was, Carly, who I had spoken to before and she said that I had to provide my phone records showing that I called to cancel. I called my phone company and because I called from my home phone number, I need a court order to prove to them that I called, each and every time. I asked her to come pick up the cans. Again, they are still sitting on my driveway. I also asked her for a managers phone number and she never responded back to my email. Now, I have to figure out how to go about getting a court order to prove I called each and every time! I find it funny, how one of my accounts they say has been canceled and never in their system but the other one didn't get canceled?! Very poor customer service. They won't work with you at all. Angie's List, can you help us?
