Blue Sky Chimney Sweeps

Gave me a $9000 estimate for a new liner along with a lot of high pressure scare tactics. Got multiple bids and heard that this is par for the course for these people. Two other companies pointed out that the chimney is too small to accept a liner. Simple $315 cleaning and the guy I hired with 40 years of experience set my mind at ease that my fireplace was safe.

Rico arrived right on time and was very prompt with his work. Rico has been cleaning my flue for 3 or 4 years and each year I have been completely satisfied and confident that my system will be safe and ready for next fire season.

Blue Sky was prompt, professional and worked hard at repairing the exterior of our chimney. Owner Dave also helped convince our insurance carrier that the damage to the interior flue was caused by a small chimney fire; our carrier agreed with his findings and reimbursed us for the estimated cost of repair.

Blue Sky preys on people who are selling their homes. When performing a chimney inspection for a home sell they know whatever they write down will have to be disclosed for all to see. Potential buyers see this information and now something has to be done to address the “issues “ that Blue Sky put down. They’re estimates are ridiculously high and most of the repairs they put down are not necessary and false.

They did a fantastic job for us. It started with cleaning two chimneys and in the process they found damage from a chimney fire in both chimneys. They worked with our insurance company to ensure they were provided with photos of the damage and the claim was approved. Their work crew was professional and did a fantastic job for us. Chimney cleaning was fine but the inspection was a joke. They claim that your chimney is very bad shape and needs lots of work to be done when it there are no real issues with it. Their licenses should be investigated and revoked.

Johnny and Zach were on time, friendly, and thorough. Our chimney has a bend in it so they had to clean from on the roof. No mess. Price was as quoted, and least expensive of the three estimates I obtained. They showed pictures of inside of the chimney when complete and explained exactly what they did.

I had our chimney cleaned in early summer as House was smelly. They used cameras and said we had a chimney fire. The fireplace was unusable. They gave an immediate estimate of $7800 and information on contacting our insurance company. I was VERY skeptical but had a second opinion and talked to my insurance company. After checking with other companies, this one had the best rating so we used them. They required 1/3 down ($2300) and didn’t schedule the work for several months. I had to call to remind them. The workers themselves were great.2 day job. Very professional. However within an hour I had a phone call and several emails to get the remaining $5500. They came to the door the next day at 8:00am to get the check. They cashed it immediately even though it has not been 72 hours and I can’t check if the fireplace is fixed. I am not sure this was a scam but cit left me with a negative impression. The very agressive tactics should give anyone pause to use this company.

The various workers were all very nice and explained the work they did. They finished in a timely manner and did a very good job of cleaning up.

I had to have my entire chimney rebuilt. Dave, the owner, was responsive and pleasant. I was flexible with time on having the work done, however, I contacted them in mid-September (the season was busy and scheduled out until Spring) and Dave managed to fit my job in which desperately needed to be done before winter. He likely could have taken advantage of me but he didn't. Two other estimates that I got (from very unpleasant) chimney contractors were a little bit more. Blue Sky's work was impeccable. The crew that came to my house not only did beautiful work but also made sure to give me options as to the type of chimney I wanted to have built along with choices in the brick color and left me a few bricks in the event I ever had the need for them years down the line. The only reason I gave them a B on price is because having a chimney built is expensive in general, however, I felt they were competitive in their pricing. They were pleasant to work with and Dave made sure I was happy with the work before I paid for it. I would definitely hire Blue Sky again if I ever had a need for chimney work. They were honest, dependable and completely cleaned up the job each day they came.

The work was very professional, they were prompt, explained what they would be doing and explained the results. They left the area around the fireplace very clean. Given the condition of the chimney it cannot be used until it has a new liner. They left a bid on the work. Have decided to get other bids before proceeding. A full written report was provided along with photos of the chimney interior where there were voids between the chimney bricks.

The technician was great and said the chimney was ready to use, but we might have some discoloring from the white paint on the brickwork. Later we received a quote to replace the chimney (something we asked for), and also a quote for a needed fire resistant paint. It was odd that the story changed about the readiness of the chimney. We later had the price of the chimney quote greatly reduced.

The cleaning was prompt and good. However, I was selling my house and a chimney inspection was performed. It stated I should not use the chimney but they would be happy to repair it for $3 thousand. I had additional inspections that were mixed .... one said I needed a new liner, one refused to put in a new liner because "it didn't need it." A third also said no work was necessary. The price for a new liner was about half what Blue Sky was asking for. This caused me a lot of stress and ended up causing me to reduce the house price to account for a new liner cost. I did not and would not knowingly sell a dangerous house (i.e. bad chimney) but I can't say I feel good about how this went.

Very well. The bricks match nicely and the new crown looks fabulous. Workers were very professional and left the site spotless. They also provide an outstanding warranty on their work.

I bought a house recently - it has a fireplace that I am not familiar with so I contacted Blue Sky with questions about checking the chimney. Blue Sky asked me a few quick questions and it turns out, I needed a different kind of inspection. The key is - he was helpful, respectful, and professional and guided me in the right direction. I truly appreciate a business owner who will stop to explain a situation to a homeowner even though it's outside their business model.

They did an excellent job. I would definitely use them again.

I had to contact them for updates, but once the cap arrived everything went on schedule.

Very little debris was removed, perhaps because there wasn't much there in the first place. They took pictures of the interior flue which showed minor defects. The written report suggested I needed a total flue relining ($4000) and chimney cap overhaul ($3000), which seemed way too much for the work. I felt like the discounted sweep was nothing more than the prelude to a con enticing me to pay excessively for the repair work. My neighbor with an identical chimney had his cap replaced for only $800, I declined the repair work, yet they hounded me for months about it.

Awesome. Dave and his team was incredibly responsive, professional, and flexible. I had water coming into my chimney and they were willing to fit me into their busy schedule. Highly recommended.

Did a really great job: really quick and didn't make any mess in the house. They had a coupon for $99. Much cheaper than other companies. Another company had a coupon for $199.

It seems like every time I hire a chimney sweep I have the cleaning fee plus a whole ton of repairs... This time I decided to go with Blue Sky and not only was the price good, but no repairs necessary at this time! They answered a ton of my nosy questions too. I will definitely keep recommending them. Oh, and they left zero mess behind :)

Last year Blue Sky came out and quoted me. The price was really low so I ignored it. This year I emailed him asking why it was so low. I also mentioned that I had Jack Pixley come out and pasted into the email Pixley's itemized list of what they would do (Blue sky quote is pretty basic) asked if Blue Sky's bid included the same things. The intent of mentioning Pixley and pasting their work order was to make sure I was comparing apples to apples, nothing more. Dave called back and we figured out that the Blue Sky quote was only for tearing down the top part of the chimney not the whole thing. Dave was very interested in the Jack Pixley quote and asked what Pixley quoted. I verbally gave him the number and Dave got back to me with a price substantially lower than Pixley's. So I went with Blue Sky and gave them 20% down. Remember that I pasted in the email exactly what Pixley's work order was, just not the actual price for the work. Now Dave called back and said that his finance person thinks the bid should be for $10,000!!! and Dave wants to "go to bat for me" and needs me to send the Pixley quote to him. I let him know that I felt that it's odd that Dave would need another competitor's quote in order to stand behind their own quote. Dave got really defensive and said it's a red flag for him that I wouldn't send him the Pixley quote. So in order to do business with Blue Sky, make sure you get a quote from someone else because Blue Sky (or at least Dave) clearly can't stand behind their own. Remember, they had come out, took pictures, and gave me an initial estimate. The ending of the story is that I cancelled my work with Blue Sky, then sent them the Pixley quote just to show them I wasn't lying. Ok, not ending of the story because I got an email from Dave stating that it was standard policy for price-match guarantee to need to see the quote. I wasn't asking for price-match guarantee, I wanted to know what they were willing to do the job for and come on, how could he do a price-match guarantee if he thinks the job should cost roughly 2.5x what he bid on it.

Dave, the owner, was very accessible and responsive to my concerns and calls. The weather was awful for the two masons with it raining on and off during the project. But in spite of the weather the job got done to our satisfaction.
