Beds & Borders Landscape Design

This is the 4th time I've used Andy and his crew (first three times were for my front yard), and they are all wonderful to work with. Andy is excellent at communicating everything, so I always know what to expect. He and/or his crew show up when they say they will and only change if there are weather issues that affect their schedule. My back yard was a disaster - the grass area had been taken over with creeping charlie and violets, and most of my perennials were lost among the weeds - Andy salvaged what he could of my perennials, so I could plant them in a new location. After the weeds were destroyed, new dirt was brought in, the yard was leveled, and new sod was laid down. New flower beds with new bushes and plants were put in. Andy's crew also put in a new patio, and they even used the brick from the old patio as edging for my new flower beds. Andy also recommended an irrigation system and then got me in touch with a great company that installed a sprinkler system for me. My new back yard is FANTASTIC! I don't have much left for Andy to do in my yard, but I will be using him for the little I have left.

Crew started at 6am and worked efficiently to complete the work. Checked in regularly to be sure we were on the same page and satisfied with what they were doing. Great work crew. Andy came with the crew in the morning and then called mid-day to check on progress with us.

With the harsh winter followed by a wet spring, Andy Freeland was challenged with scheduling work with long lead times. We began planning in early June with a site visit and discussion. Within a few days, Andy got back to us with a plan and proposal. The project was put on the calendar for August. I liked Andy's proposal and very much enjoyed working with him. The work crew was efficient, friendly and reliable. The project was delivered on time as promised. The property was kept neat throughout. The finished product was beautiful and I am anxious to see it again this spring.

Andy was very helpful with planning our project. We were not initially sure exactly what we wanted, but Andy did a good job with helping us to focus on how we wanted to use the finished space and what we wanted aesthetically. The crew that did the work was friendly, efficient, and hard-working. The finished patio is really beautiful and we are thrilled with the result. Andy was very professional and responsive to our emails and phone calls throughout the process. We will definitely use this company for future landscaping projects

The project went very well: The owner was very easy to work with, was prompt with his estimates and contracts, the workers were very professional and courteous, the workers arrived on time and the project was completed in the time predicted. I had no trouble communicating with the owner and/or the project manager if I had any questions. The quality of the finished project is excellant.

From the start, Andy was very responsive. He met me at the house to see the yard and learn what I wanted. We emailed back and forth extensively about various trees, bushes and flowers. My husband and I don't know much about this and needed suggestions. He was more than happy to keep sending ideas when we wanted more or had any objections. On the day of planting, the crew came bright and early (as scheduled) and worked really hard. They were courteous and a pleasure to have here. Not only did they plant what they were supposed to, they relocated a lot of our existing plants and worked around a large bush that we wanted to keep when they planted the new tree. We appreciate how accommodating they were. They cleaned up very well after the project. When my husband wanted additional mulch brought in, they did it. When we didn't like the look of the new tree, they replaced it the next day. It was a dry August and Andy even emailed me several times to remind me to water the plants!! We are very happy with how our yard looks and were very pleased with the quality of work and customer service provided by Beds & Borders.

Andy and his team were fantastic. Walked us through design options, kept vision within our budget. The crew was efficient and courteous. Andy kept us apprised of progress. Everything looks fantastic. We had been battling our yard for years, and now we have something that looks great and will be manageable. We will now get much more enjoyment out of our outdoor spaces.

Andy provided a great design and allowed us to change a few things. It took awhile from the time we approved the designs to execution of the project but Andy kept us updated. It only took about 6 hours to complete the project which included pulling out old shrubs and landscaping stone. We love the results!

The service was wonderful. We had a relatively small job compared to others they do. In fact, we needed to scale back from our original plan. Yet, the owner and staff treated us with the courtesy and respect you would expect if our job had been significantly larger. Our project was originally slated for October but they contacted us in August to find out if we'd be interested in getting it done six weeks sooner than planned. (We were!) Beds & Borders will be the first call I make for future landscaping needs.

Everything turn out well. The Beds & Borders crew were always on time, very professional, and worked hard to get us the result we wanted. We had an issue with trying to seed the yard on a first attempt and it did not work. We eventually had B&B put in sod. They did that at cost for the sod and did not charge for any of the labor. B&B continued to check in through the fall to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.

Andy and his team responded quickly and were able to get us in right before the first snowfall hit. We desperately needed a new rear patio and retaining wall to support our foundation in our walkout rambler that had been damaged by the previous design and failing of the old, original patio (nearly 30 years old). Andy was wonderful to work with and came in on budget (a huge must for us since we had a lot of other unforeseen remodeling costs) with a design and end product that met our needs and style of the home. He and his team rolled with pain-in-the-butt neighbors, another contractor who slowed down the build, and worked fast to get it done before the end of the season. We are looking forward to working with Andy again this Spring to get some of the new planting done and finish off the front and side yards.

I first met with Andy in the spring of 2012 to get a quote for our backyard landscaping. He was really open to my ideas, provided his advice and perspective, and adjusted the quote based on my feedback. Then... our A/C went out and we had to postpone the work. I called Andy again in the early Spring of 2013, he honored the original quote, made a few more adjustments at my request and was able to schedule us for late May. He and his crew were extremely professional, and were in and out in 2 days. Since then, any time I have questions about our new plants, Andy has been very responsive via email. I would recommend him.

The work was done very efficently and professionally. The crew really works hard and fast. Everyone seemed to know their job and various jobs were happening simultaneously. We were impressed that the crew could adjust when needed. The clean up was exceptional We would definitely recommend Andy and his crew to others. Andy has a great knowledge of plants and really wants to sell you what will be best for you.

Very enjoyable to work with Andy from the planning stages all the way to completion and followup. I was amazed that Andy initiated the statement that he would be back next spring to make sure everything survived the winter and replace any plants/trees that hadn't. I had a few questions about plant/tree care during the summer, related to what they had planted, and those questions were answered in a timely and thoughtful manner.

Beds & Borders arrived early and completed the work with excellence on time. They went the extra mile, transplanting several hostas, day lilies, sedum, and numerous pachysandras new gardens. He came with a team of people who were polite and well-organized. When we realized that a tree hydrangea was not right, we asked Andy Freeland to swap it out with a bush hydrangea and he did so at no additional cost. Andy gave us a plan to winterize the garden and helped us find the irrigation company we needed.

Andy visited us, discussed our needs, and gave us an illustrated diagram showing his suggestions. His team spent two days, first removing the old shrubs and then planting new trees and shrubs of various kinds. New sod was laid along the sidewalk, and weed-barrier covering and mulch were used to cover the entire area. They also cleared out one side of the house, installing weed barrier and mulch. They will be back in the spring to do some additional work. Andy and his team performed exactly as they had promised. They worked very well as a team and were very professional. Their work was efficient, precise, and artistic. They had all the tools, including a backhoe, needed to do the job. Price is difficult to evaluate. Yes, Andy's quote was a bit higher than those of other contractors we met with, but his plan was much more creative, and due to his excellent reviews, we decided that the additional cost was worth it.

We first contacted Andy at the end of May and, after some tinkering with the design to stay close to our budget, had a finalized and association approved plan by the end of July. From the outset, Andy had advised us that he would not be able to install our new landscape until late in the season - September or possibly October. The wet spring weather had created a backlog and we were late in getting quotes (we should have started this process in January). However, we liked Andy's plan and enjoyed working with him, so were willing to wait. Andy and his crew were ready to begin on Sept 26, but were able to postpone at our request, to allow some concrete work to be done adjacent to the new bed they would be installing. Unfortunately, rain delayed the concrete work (which has yet to be completed), but Andy assured us that he would fix any damage this work might do to the new landscaping, so he and his crew of 7 arrived early on Sept 30 and got right to work. Andy reviewed the plan we had agreed upon in July, marking out the changes in the bed design with spray paint, then turned the project over to Chris. Ours was not a large project, and was completed in about 3 1/2 hours. The crew was friendly and professional, working steadily, cleaning and hosing down the area, leaving our new landscape in pristine condition. We are totally delighted with the results and highly recommend Beds & Borders.

It was a pleasure to work with this company! Owner/designer Andy did a superb job, as did his foreman Chris and three other workers. They were friendly, professional, skilled, and very hardworking. The job was completed in just one (long) day. I particularly appreciated their helpful and courteous compliance with a couple of changes I requested, which required re-doing some of their work.

The job went smoothly and was completed in about 3 days. The crew worked non stop in 90 degree, very humid weather. They were professional, skilled, polite, meticulous, and flexible. Andy was very responsive and oversaw the project from design to finish. It turned out beautifully. We couldn't be happier with the results and know it will be even more beautiful as the plants mature over the years.

They had to take out a part of my sidewalk and some old bushes to install the patio and planters. They did such a great job! They tied it all together, and I feel like it really increased the curb appeal of the house. They are really good at the landscaping part. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. They really did an excellent job.

We first contacted Beds & Borders last year to get an estimate for a two phase project on our yard. After multiple meetings and discussions, we finally committed to the project at the beginning of the summer. B&B was able to work us into their schedule at a time that worked for us. In four days, they completely removed the front yard landscaping and replaced them with a whole new yard. They also put in a new retaining wall in the back yard. Each day there were 4 to 5 B&B people working on the project. The owners, foreman, and other employees did a great job. They were on time, work hard to get the job done as soon as possible and paid attention to the details. They came back and fixed a couple minor things rights away. They also laid out all the plantings for us prior to putting them in to allow us to see how the yard was going to look like. I believe there goal was to ensure we were satisfied with the end result. And, we were.

The crew did a fabulous job. 6 weeks later, everything looks wonderful! They were able to complete a large job in under 2 days. It was a pleasure working with Andy and his crew!

We were happy with the project and absolutely delighted with the results. We started the process by contacting Andy (found him on Angie's List but then later learned he had done projects for several work friends) and doing a walk-through of our old backyard with him. We only had three fixed ideas - we wanted a stone patio of some type, we had a big swingset/playset that had to be integrated into the design, and we wanted native, easy to maintain plants. And the overall results needed to be extremely child-friendly, as that was the primary purpose of the backyard. The rest we left to Andy's creativity. Two of our favorite features - a huge sand pit for the kids and a gravel campfire patio under some trees - were things that Andy suggested and we hadn't thought of. Andy came up with a terrific design, and worked really well with us over a number of weeks to tweak and finalize it. We never felt pressured at all. This was a very expensive project for us, but Andy was really helpful in terms of suggesting less expensive alternatives to certain features that still kept within the overall design. He and his team were also good about reacting on the fly to a few changes we wanted during the work phase. The team started work right on time and finished the day they said they would. His whole team was very professional, very likeable, and really nice to our chatty three year old twins. (They still ask when Mr. Andy and Mr. Chris are coming back). Also, the other contractors Andy recommended (irragation, etc) were just as professional and efficient. Overall the whole experience was amazing and we love our new backyard. We have been meaning to write this review for over a month but our new backyard is so inviting and fun that we haven't spent much time inside on the computer! We should add that we also feel very comfortable contacting Andy now, to ask follow-up questions such as, when do we prune, what about beetles, etc. And yes, we are already talking to him about doing our front yard next year!

I found them on Angie's List. I would recommend them. They were very attentive to our landscaping needs. I would say their price is high.
