Over the past year I give an F to their scheduling department. I scheduled my furnace tune-up last fall and they were scheduling 6 weeks out. On the day of the appointment no one showed up during the scheduled time slot. When I called to find out why I was told that they had no appointment scheduled for me (for that day or any other). They did send someone within a week after that to perform the work. Today I had my a/c check scheduled and was told that I was the first appointment of the day and that the technician would arrive between 8 and 8:30 a.m. No one showed up. When I called I was told something about the schedule being switched around. Unfortunately they neglected to let me know that the schedule had been changed. They did dispatch a technician who arrived about 45 minutes after I called. I am unlikely to renew my service contract with this company due to the scheduling problems. I have never had this happen before and for it to happen twice in a row is frustrating.
Description of Work: I have had a service contract with this company since 2000. The cost listed above is the cost of the annual contract. I give the company an A for all service work they have performed for me. The technicians are always knowledgeable and professional. Today the technician performed an a/c check.

Upon investigating Member' complaint we can only say we are sincerely sorry for dropping the ball on her maintenance not once, but twice. This is not how we do business. We would like to thank Member for bringing this issue to our attention and can assure her we are doing everything in our power to correct the issues that lead to the missed appontments. We all understand that everyone makes mistakes but we are committed to handeling those mistakes with honesty and integrity. Again, our sincere apologies to Member. If she would decide to give us another chance to earn her trust we would gladly extend a one year maintenance contract to her.

The service man that came over, Matt Solko, that installed it had no idea what he was doing. He had shorted out the main fuse in the fuse box. He ended up splicing furnace into the fuse box and had to shut the gas off until the electrician could come out (days later). He told us the board on the furnace was broken and needed to be replaced for over $500. We had just replaced it last year so I didn't think that was right. I had another company come and look at it and they said nothing was wrong it and that company turned the furnace back on. I called Sedgwick's manager to complain about the work that was done and she yelled at me. She was extremely unprofessional. They are committing consumer fraud. I want them to pay for the second opinion I had to get and also for the extension that he spliced the furnace
Description of Work: They replaced my A/C unit.

We installed this equipment on 7/5/12. The old wire from the fuse box did break & the installer temp wired it until our electrician could permanently repair it. Additionally, water from the old ac coil was dripping on the control board in the furnace and causing the igniter to click continuously so the installer recommended that the customer replace the board before corrosion causes a potential failure. Because the igniter was attempting to light he disconnected it and shut the gas off as a safetly precaution. He called our parts department and got the price for her. As we understand another company came out a few days later and told the customer the board was fine; however it is our opinion that a board that got wet should be replaced as a proactive safety measure to prevent a potential furnace failure in the winter. Mr. Solko is a Master installer with many years of experience. He did a very good job and we our proud that he works for us. Had she called us right away with her issues we could have addressed them immediately by sending our field supervisor to look over the work that was done. We would have also sent a service technician to verify the installers opinion of the control board. This would have been done without any cost to the customer. However, the customer failed to give us that opportunity to do so; rather she called almost a week later and proceeded to threaten us with the Attorney General and a bad review on Angie's List--even saying we were perpetrating consumer fraud. And then when I tried to explain that we would send our field supervisor & a service tech out at no charge she got even more upset and swore at me (calling me a *itch). I did finally tell her to do what she felt she had to do after she refused to tell me what she wanted or how we could rectify the situation.

The fix failed in two weeks. After that we called a different HVAC company (found on Angies List) and had them come out. They determined that the Evaporator Coil was a 2 ton and the Compressor was a 2 1/2 ton which was a miss match. Sedgewick was the company that installed the miss match A/C approx. 7 years ago. When Sedgwick was out for the repair, they didn't mention that the fix could be a new Evaporator Coil. Got a new A Coil and so far the A/C is working fine. So not happy with the lack of information.
Description of Work: Air conditioner was not working. They determined that there was a leak in coolant. They applied a stop leak to the system and replenished the coolant.

Sedgwick Heating and Air Conditioning was sold in 2009 and is now a new company. Unfortunately I do not have access to the paperwork from the original installation to verify coil sizing. Had the customer called us back we would have applied the money they spent towards the cost of replacing the defective coil. Our top concern is the satisfaction of our customers and we regret that we did not have the chance to make this right.

We were impressed with all the Sedgwick employees we came in contact with.
Description of Work: After interviewing 3 companies in the heating/ air conditioning business, all of which are on Angies List, we decided to purchase and have Sedgwick Heating and AC install our AC unit. Don Pahl was the sales representative who came to our home to present the proposal and then returned a second time when we signed the contract. He was extremely professional, clearly presenting our options, answering questions, explaining that Sedgwick took care of our rebate filing and city - required permits, and stayed on topic, unlike the other 2 companies! Don set up the installation date and Rob came on time. He was fantastic, working through severe storm warnings and rain. His attitude and sense of humor, as well his work ethic were commendable. We will definitely use Sedgwick again!

Very happy with the service and quality of the staff. I purchased an annual maintenance plan and will be using them to service my furnace and air conditioner going forward.
Description of Work: I had a service person come out and check my air exchange because it was making a squeeling noise. I was concerned that the fan motor was about to sieze up. Don the service person inspected the air exchange and cleared some debris that had gotten into the air exchange unit. I asked him if he would also give the furnace and airconditioning unit a quick inspection which he gladly did. Don found a few minor maintenance items that hadn't been addressed and quickly attended to them. II asked (Don did not push) about their maintenance plans. Don descirbed the plans available and I purchased an annual plan covering the furnace, AC unit and humidifier. While definately not the cheapest service provider, the value is comensurate with the service provided.

The quality of the products is fine. The two people handling installation were polite. After spending 4 hours installing the two products, all seemed fine. That evening, my furnace stopped running and water was dripping from the furnace. The condensate drain had been removed by Sedgwick in order to create enough room to move the water heater which was next to the furnace. When they replaced the drain PVC, the glue they used hardened and clogged the drain causing the condensation to back up and shut the furnace down. I called Sedgwick to come out that evening but they had a long backlog. I called another reputable company who could come out more quickly (I live in MN). They quickly discovered the problem and fixed it. My furnace is fairly new and has never had a problem prior to this event. When I called Sedgwick the next day to explain what happened, I was told that my issue would be reported to the operations manager and I should expect a call. I have never heard anything from the company. The products installed are working well at this point, but the company never acknowledged their error or expressed any concern over the mistake.
Description of Work: I purchased a replacement direct vent natural gas space heater and a replacement hot water heater. The company both sold and installed the two products.

I called Sedgwick today after I spent hours trying to figure out why my heating stopped working. Within an hour Kevin called me to let me know he was on his way. He found out my heat pump setting needed to be adjusted and double checked the furnace and got things working in an hour. I was very happy that he was patient with answering all my questions (furnace issues make me a little nervous due to past experiences with other companies) and he took the time to research the problem. Is so nice to have heat again and so quickly! Thank you!

I took the information on the amount it would cost and mentioned that I would call within 24 hours and book the appointment. I didn't realize that the quote that he provided for the water heater was twice the amount of any water heater that I could find out there. He basically was trying to scare me into purchasing this "good deal" water heater. The worst thing about the whole thing was that he never turned back on the water heater or boiler, so the next day I didn't have any heat or hot water and couldn't figure out why. I had to call on the Sedgwick's after hours on call service to have another tech say that the previous guy didn't properly finish the job. I also had someone come in for a second opinion about the water heater and he said that there is nothing wrong with the water heater itself and that Sedgwick was trying to get over on me. I was disappointed that this was the service that I received. The original guy that came out seemed friendly and all but he is not friendly if he is trying to charge twice as much as the competitor. Not only was a give the outrageous quote I also was without hot water and heat for a day.
Description of Work: Recently purchased a house and was looking to get vent work done for the dryer vent. Also needed some boiler and water heater maintenance since this was not done since moving in and I did not know the condition the previous owners left it. The guy came in and gave an estimate on the venting and asked if I was still interested in the maintenance on the boiler and water heater. Because I own a duplex they were going to charge the same price for each one. I thought this wasn't sound reasoning and said no. He mentioned that there might be a coupon on Angie's list and sure enough there was. Based on the decrease in the estimated cost of the service I had him service the both water heaters and boilers. Upon his completion he stated that one of my water heaters needed to be replaced. He mentioned that he would be able to give me a deal on the price on the water heater.

The market for a 40 gallon water heater is $899 installed in this area. Customer was quoted $799 for the water heater with installation. She was given an excellent price on the water heater. I have checked with four other plumbing contractors and our price was the best. If she is looking at the cost of a water heater at Home Depot or another store that does not include installation. Her water heater was working but shooting flames outside the front and is a fire hazard. The flame diverter was rusted off and creating a hazard. When tech left everything was running fine. The other vendor that came in to check the water heater could have turned off the gas.

Called due to furnace not starting. Receptionist was very helpfull and I was able to get an appointment for the same day. They arrived during the time identified on the appointment and were very courteous and helpful. Issue was quickly diagnosed and repaired. My only complaint is that they have a set fee for both diagnostics and repair and not an hourly rate. So a on site visit that took 30 min was 300$. .So lesson is ask what their fees are before agreeing to any work.

Great service. Called them in the morning. They were here in the afternoon. Used an Angie's List coupon to get the furnace looked at. I sought bids from Sedgwick and two other companies. I selected Sedgwick because they were the most thorough and demonstrated that they wanted to earn our business through their responsiveness, educational approach and a competitive bid. The installation went very smoothly. A call back was required the following day to adjust the gas supply pressure. The dispatch was very responsive and located a technician that could respond that same day. He was thorough, agreeable and provided helpful tips.
Description of Work: Technician came out to the house to check a furnace that wasn't running. He determined that it was no longer safe to operate since the heat exchanger had become cracked after 24 years of use. I later invited Sedgwick to bid on a new furnace.

They arrived on time and checked and cleaned the furnace. A weak blower capacitor was replaced. The tech also explained that the gas pressure to the house was low and should be checked by my gas company. It seemed like they did a good job. The next day I called Xcel energy to have the gas pressure problem investigated, and they sent a tech out that day. Before he investigated the pressure problem, he checked every gas pipe connection in the house for gas leaks. In the process he detected gas coming from the furnace, and upon further investigation found that the igniter gas line connection nut was loose - only on finger tight. The Sedgwick tech had taken this unit apart the day before to clean the igniter, and had apparently forgotten to tighted the gas connection. The Xcel tech tighten the connection nut at least two turns to get it tight and leak free. For the Sedgwick tech to miss this is completely inexcusable. I think it is time to find another service provider.

They were absolutely wonderful! I was nervous about 'hidden' costs. They promised me the amount on the 'estimate' was the amount that will only be charged, even if they underestimated the work needing to be done. It was true! They also had a 'no lemon' policy, and were honest that sometimes products have a fault, but that if it did they would replace it/repair it. My A/C did have a hole the first year, so they replaced the whole unit, and I was told, sent it back to Lennox tfor review to make sure no one else had the same issue. The following year they did free tune-up to make sure everything was still running ok. Have been very grateful that I chose them.

High quality work. We were able to schedule within a reasonable amount of time. This is key, because our old AC unit died in June, upon the first wave of 100-degree heat. I believe I could have done a little better on the price, but otherwise no complaints. Sedgwick was willing and able to do the work within a matter of days, which was critical given the extreme heat during much of this summer. The installers did good work and cleaned up well. They also pointed out to us a corroded sewer gas pipe in the attic, and put a temporary fix on it (putty) until we could replace that section of pipe. This type of professionalism is greatly appreciated.

They have been unresponsive to my contact form. I haven't received an email or a phone call from them and it has been over 2 weeks since I submitted the form. See Update of 9/30 above.
Description of Work: I went to their website to see about how to contact them about getting my gas line rerouted. Their website had a "please contact us" form and I described my issue in that form. Update: 9/30/2011. After I submitted the original report to Angie's List, Sedgwick promptly called me, and we made an appointment for them to send out an estimator. He showed up (about 15 minutes early) checked out want I wanted done, measured, and said he would send an estimate to me by e-mail. After about three weeks and no e-mail, I called and asked where the estimate was. I was told it had been sent but they would re-submit by e-mail that day. (To my home e-mail). I came home, looked through my mail in-basket and found nothing. But then I looked through the junk mail, and found the e-mail from that day containing the original estimate from some weeks earlier. (My e-mail deletes stuff in the junk mail after 5 days.) I can only conclude that the original estimate came in, went straight to junk mail, and since I don't check the junk mail regularly), the estimate was deleted. It may very well be possible that my computer (a pre-intel) iMac and the e-mail settings may have been responsible for Sedgwick not getting the original request. The estimate for the work is reasonable, and I have just accepted the proposal. So, I want to correct my earlier negative evaluation. (Since the work hasn't been done yet, N.A. is the only rating I can give "quality" at this time.)
