The representations, organization, planning, and execution were OK, not great. A refund was promised from a power company, but it turned out we were not eligible--not in the correct service area. When I brought concerns to the companies attention, the company always responded appropriately and promptly. My impression is that the problems arose with the individual who handled our project. That individual has left the company. My impression of the rest of the people I've worked with has been superb. Though my experience received only moderately good marks, I think the usual service is excellent.

I had gotten a new furnace and A/C installed by Sedgwick in 2003. That transaction went very well and I have been very pleased with the equipment and with the periodic maintenance service calls and one warranty service call since then. Always on time and very professional. When my son asked about a new furnace for his home, I recommended contacting Sedgwick. They came out last week and did a very thorough inspection and write-up of an estimate. They explained all the options very clearly with good explanations of what equipment to buy and why. They also explained all the rebates available from Xcel. They even volunteered that some additional rebates from the furnace might be available if my son waited for a month. They said they would contact him then.

They did an excellent job! The venting was in a difficult location, but they got it done right. Have not had to do anything with it since.
Description of Work: Replaced furnace, return duct, filter plenum, and humidifier. Replaced and rerouted vent piping. Replaced and relocated thermostat.

The service was done very well. Our heating and air was failing and we needed to get it replaced. They did a fabulous job. They were always there if we had any concerns or questions. We were very impressed with them from the beginning. They were prompt, kind, and very informative and helpful. They would come out to do a check-up on the system to make sure everything was optimal as well. They are very nice and professional guys. I would hire them again if needed.
Description of Work: The provider installed a humidifier and take care of our heating and central air system. They also provider a power vac service to remove allergens and dust from the air intake.

Work was complete. Then, a month later when the 2nd floor radiators seemed not too warm I checked the boiler pressure and found it to be at zero. The tech was back the next day, Dec 17, 2014, and found the pressure back down low. He addd water, rechecked expansion tank and advised me to watch the pressure and sign of leaks. I was to report. I put a pail under the pressure relief valve pipe and within 24 hours found a full pail. Reported that day (18th) and it was agreed that the pressure relief valve was shot and should be replaced. It is now Jan 2, 2015 and now valve. I have wanting to tell someone of importance that the Weil-McLain parts list specifies a standard relief valve, purchased locally. The problem is not the tech work but Sedgwick has a very poor phone service. My every call gets 'canned' responses and my asking to talk to a higher-up or supervisor is refused. So the tech work is A quality but the contact service is F quality. So my average grade can only be C.

Sedgwick was recommended as a Nest certified HVAC by Nest tech support. All I needed was a new thermostat wire run. I called Sedgwick as the first one on the list provided by Nest. I immediately got someone on the phone although it was after normal business hours, which was great. That individual didn't/couldn't schedule service, but promised that a technician would call to schedule service within 2 hours. Never got a call. Called again the next day and got the same response from the person on the phone, they couldn't schedule, but a technician would call within 2 hours to schedule. Again, no response.
Description of Work: Provider did not return phone calls to schedule. Multiple attempts were made.

Josh, the technician, could not have been more professional or more polite. He was there for my semiannual maintenance check for my AC unit but as part of that check he also checked the blower functions indoors located in the furnace unit. When he turned it on, I mentioned the rather loud noise made by the unit. Josh took it upon himself to attempt to diagnose the problem. He disassembled the portion of the furnace that contained the blower motor and after inspecting it carefully, advised me that the motor was leaking slightly and while it did not appear to be serious at this time it would certainly fail at some time in the future. I authorized him to replace the blower motor. Thankfully he had the appropriate size replacement unit in his truck and commenced to replace the blower motor. He was very neat and deliberate and took his time to ensure that he was properly installing the unit. When finished, he tested it a couple of times and it worked well and sounded much better. He then went outside to my AC unit and completed the maintenance check for that unit as well. Throughout the appointment, I found Josh to be very knowledgeable and careful, and his willingness to take care of my problem immediately instead of scheduling another service call was absolutely the right thing to do in terms of providing the highest quality customer service. I could not have been more impressed or pleased. I will say, however, that in the previous two years' worth of visits by the technicians at Sedgwick, I recall mentioning to all of the technicians that I thought the blower sounded too loud, but not one of them went to the bother of actually checking the unit. Until Josh did today, bless his heart--and that to me shows his commitment to true customer service, not to mention his excellent judgment. So to the Powers That Be at Sedgwick, you have a stellar employee on your hands and if I were you, I'd do everything I could to keep Josh on your payroll. Very well done.

We came out to install chimney liner and re-vent your water heater because whoever you hired to put in the water heater did so improperly and water heater was back drafting into your home. The work was done over 14 months ago. I believe your review belongs to another contractor who installed your equipment wrong. The only other visits to your home have been tune-ups.

I always recommend annual maintenance of HVAC system annually! From my experience I end up paying more money if I neglect it. Sedgwick installed both A/C and heater and doing annual maintenance ever since. As usual, they did great job, I am looking forward to continue working with them.

We contract with Sedgwick to come twice a year to check our furnace and our AC system. They are always punctual, do a great job and provide feedback when needed. We have used them for years. By using this service we have avoided any problems with our heating and cooling.

I called on a Friday afternoon, before Memorial Day, to tell them that my AC unit was not cooling. They had a technician come out by 4:30 that day. As it turned out, the circuit breaker in our house was turned off. The technician found the problem right away. He also check out the AC unit to make sure all else was operating well. What stood out on the service call was the technician's, Kevin, professionalism and friendliness. We will continue to use Sedgewick for all of our Heating and AC needs in the future.

I had a leaky water heater and contacted Sedgwick for a quote. Their quote was competitive and they were able to do the job quickly. Sedgwick did an excellent job. The water heater was priced fairly, the installation was done on time and without any problems.

We have been using Sedgewick for about 15 years. We first used their maintenance program for our furnace and a/c. Then in Dec. 2012 our furnace broke down and instead of putting money into repair of a 20 year old furnace we replaced it and the a/c with a even more energy saving unit. The install guys were great as usual and clean and everything was installed professionally. This company is on our annual maintenance list. We will always use them as their quality and pricing is good. We still have our new unit maintained on an annual basis. Recommend them highly. Are always prompt.

I called Sedgwick for an emergency service today and they were able to call me back right away to schedule an appointment within 2 hours. After the technician (Ron) confirmed he was on his way the furnace started working. I called Ron back to tell him to cancel and he proceeded to offer up his expertise on what he think was happening and instructed me over the phone on how to maintain the problem on my own if and quot;you are a little handyand quot;. I really appreciated that 1) he was not the least bit put off by the fact that I cancelled on him literally when he was on his way and even better 2) he offered up a potential solution if it were to happen again. My furnace is 23 years old and purchased / installed by Sedgwick back in 1991. I'll definitely continue to use them for service and my eventual replacement furnace. Nice service!

Had them out today for routine hot water boiler maintenance. Tech showed up on time and got the job done in a timely manner. Took the time to explain the answers to my questions. I thought the iPad Mini with card swiper way to pay was neat. The tech knew what he doing.

We were out of town when our son called and advised our nearly 30 year old furnace was out. We called several heating companies and Sedgewick had someone out to the house in an hour(in the middle of the night). Within a week we had a new furnace at what seems a reasonable price. Absolutely no complaints.

Customer responsiveness was non-existent. It was like they didn't want to do my job, but they didn't want to call me and tell me that. I figured if they didn't want to talk to me, they didn't want my business. That says a lot about a company if they fail to return your phone call in a timely manner, especially since through Angie's List they clearly said they could do the job and to contact them.
Description of Work: I emailed the company through Angie's List to request an estimate on installing ductwork for a ventilation ceiling fan that was recently installed. They told me to contact them by phone and request an estimate. I called them that same day and left them a voicemail message as a "live" person did not answer the phone. I asked them to call me back and let me know when we could set up an appointment for the estimate. I never received a call back from them and subsequently hired someone else to do the work.

If this happened, all I can do is apologize. I reviewed our call log for that day and did not see a record of your call. We also have a live person answering the phone 24/7. We always have a live body during business hours and a call center that answers the phones after hours. The fact you stated that you got a voicemail and not a live person leads me to believe you called the wrong number. If that is the case I feel you should remove this review.

Service person turned on air conditioner to perform service and left it on even though the windows were open and it was a cool spring day. It was several days before we noticed the air conditioner was on with doors and windows open. When I called to complain, the manager did apologize but said they leave on the air conditioner because it is the most energy efficient use of the air conditioner is to turn it on and leave it on for the entire summer. In spite of several articles I sent her to the contrary (from the University of Minnesota and other reputable sources), she insisted that she, as a professional in the field knew that turning one' s air conditioner on only when it was hot used more energy Than leaving it on for the entire summer!!!! I was shocked that a heating and air-conditioning service would believe that old myth that has been disproved over and over. It is important to me that my heating and air-conditioning service practices energy-efficient policies and is informed about how best to use appliances and Energy efficiently. Shortly after our conversations and several emails, I saw a Sedgewick ad which encouraged people to purchase a furnace now before the new energy efficient rules went into effect. Once again it was clear this company does not care about energy efficiency. I terminated my maintenance contract with them and am looking for a new company.

We are sorry that you were disappointed with our service. It was our mistake to have left the air conditioner running with your windows open. The idea of running your air conditioner constantly focuses more on comfort to the homeowner. If you prefer to open and close your windows during the summer then by all means you should not be running it. If you like to keep the humidity level low in your home during the summer then opening and closing the windows is definitely not a good choice. It takes up to 3 days to dehumidify a home completely with an air conditioner and only 3 hours of open windows will take you back to where you started. Unless your air conditioner is over sized then it will take a while to get your home comfortable if the temperature warms up considerably. The problem with this scenario is the over sized air conditioner is not able to remove humidity from your home because it cools the house of too quickly. This is why we sometimes encourage people to let their air conditioner run and do the job that it was designed to do. In response to your comment that we were encouraging people to purchase inefficient equipment your comments could not be further from the truth. Some homes are not easily retrofitted to accept a high efficiency furnace and require a considerable amount of modification to make them work. We were simply giving those that faced this situation a warning so they could make a choice while they still had it. Consequently, the ruling for the requirement was struck down because it did not consider the additional work and expense of installing such equipment in homes that were never designed to accept the way they function. Many homeowners struggle to pay for our least expensive furnaces and we simply wanted to give them a choice while they still had it. This may not be the case for you but for others it is a huge burden when you consider the cost to step up to a high efficiency furnace is $1000 minimum and if construction work was needed that number could easily triple. I truly hope you find the service you are looking for but we will always try to provide heating and cooling services for everyone on the economic ladder. Sincerely, Sedgwick Heating and Air
