My experience with Dixon's Home Services didn't go quite so well. One of the things that happened was that right off, they had a lot of excuses why they couldn't do a lot of the windows. Each pane was so many windows and that kind of thing. So, we said, "Okay, that's fine." Then there was a small BB bullet hole in one of the windows and when they took it out, they took it out in such a fashion that it totally shattered the window. We ended up replacing the window. That BB hole had been there for five years and had not caused a problem until then. This home was built in about 1977 and we explained that you've got to move the windows to the center and push it up to take the windows out to clean them. They said, "Oh yeah, we're professional. We know all about that." Halfway through, they said, "We couldn't get some of the windows out." I thought, "I'm 60 and can get them out and you're thirty and can't get them out? You can't get them out and you're a professional agency?" We prepaid for the service, so what are you going to do? It's definitely not a service we'd use again. They were here only about an hour. They were prompt and very much on time. As far as my trying to redirect or telling them anything, it didn't help anything. We were hoping to make it maybe a regular six month deal, but we're not using them again.

I bought an Angie's list special and called to schedule. Someone came out to see exactly what I needed. The window washer came out on time -- actually 15 min early. He was courteous and helpful. I asked him to add a few more windows and that was fine with him. Great job! I will call them again.

I rated this provider an A because their service was flawless. They got back to me very quickly when I called, showed up on time, were thorough and friendly--and even did a couple of interior windows that weren't in the original bid free of charge. George and Jack were cheerful and very intent on doing a good job. Hurray, Angie's List and hurray for Dixon's!

The crew arrived on time, was very cordial, and did an excellent job. I was impressed with how thorough they were in cleaning the windows, the rails, and the outside frame. I was completely satisfied with the work.

He was really good. He came out and returned calls really quickly. We just decided to do it ourselves.

They were quick and very nice. They were really polite and covered their shoes and were very professional.

This was our first experience hiring professional window washers to clean our windows and it was a great first experience. We were getting ready for our son's graduation Open House and my husband finally agreed to hire the professionals. It was a challenge to schedule a day for them to come out to wash the windows as it was an incredibly rainy spring but they were super accommodating and flexible. When the scheduled day arrived, once again it was raining so they called that morning to see if I still wanted them to come out. Since we were getting down to the wire and only 4 days out from the Open House I had them come and at least wash all the inside windows. They weren't sure if they would be able to squeeze me in to do the outside windows before the weekend but said they would call if they had a cancellation or got done with another job early. On Friday it was a beautiful sunny day and they called that morning and said they could fit us in so I jumped for joy and had them come out. They had a crew of 3 that arrived and they got set up and went about their work. They were super polite and professional and asked me to check their work when they were done. I did notice a couple of little drips and they were quick to set their ladders back up again to be sure that all the windows were done to our satisfaction. The small window pains on our garage doors had never been cleaned after they were stained in the fall and they spent lots of time cleaning & scraping those until they were immaculate and sparkling. The windows all looked amazing, even the next morning when the sun came streaming through there were absolutely no streaks! I would definitely use Dixon's again. It was a bit of an expense but well worth it! Thanks Dixon's!

If you have double hung windows with storms and screens, like almost every house in Minneapolis, Dixon's WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLEAN THEM. I bought an "Angie's List Big Deal" to have 24 windows cleaned for $129. I called ahead of time to make sure that they could come out before a big family event, which Mick said was no problem. He said the owner would swing by to do an estimate, and then sent me an un-detailed estimate for ANOTHER $348 on top of the $129 deal I already bought. I called and negotiated for them to do just the outside windows and screens, which (only) cost me an additional $77. First they were supposed to come at 2:00, then he called to say 10:30, then I got a confirmation email that said 8:30. They came out and within 45 minutes, they cleaned only one outside storm per window and kinda dusted off some screens. When I called back to say that they didn't clean all of the windows, he apologized and said he'd send another team out the next day at 2:30, but they showed up at 12:30 when I wasn't home. They told my husband that they didn't know how to operate my windows and they would just give me my money back. My windows are the standard ones that MAC installed on hundreds of homes in South Minneapolis and surrounding areas, so it was shocking that a window cleaning service had no idea how to open them up for cleaning. I called again, and he was going to send out another guy on another day, but by this time I was so frustrated and my family was already arriving in town, so I said to forget it. They said they would send me my $77, but that I had to file a dispute through Angie's List to get my money back. The only positive thing I can say is that the guy in the office, Mick, was very nice and responsive. After a while I started to feel sorry for him that he has to work for such an incompetent company. If anyone needs a great customer service guy, you should hire him and get him out of there.

After they left I had to do additional cleaning on some of the tracks. They took 2 or 3 screens outside to clean but the rest they wiped off in the house with a dry rag. Dirt from the tracks ended up on the floor & kitchen counter. I had to go through each room & vacuum the floor and furniture by each window to get rid of the dust left from their cleaning.

Marvelous! They were easy to work with, did the job while I was at work, no lost time, when I got home it was done and beautiful. The next rainfall, there was NO overflowing and all the water went only where it was supposed to go, out the downspouts.

Fantastic. I had a quote in my e- mail within days of purchasing the Big Deal. Then I received a call to schedule the service. I really appreciated that they took the initiative to get this done. I had the work scheduled within the next week which was great because we had guests coming. I received a call from the person doing the window cleaning saying he could get there a bit early if that was OK. The job was done thoroughly and professionally. My windows look so great! I will definitely use this company again and will recommend them to my friends.

They were excellent and came on promised. They installed on the same day. It works fantastic over the winter and we never had any ice stems on our roof. When we thought that one of the wires had come loose, we called them to check it out and they were out here late the next day. They inspected the whole system and it's a two year warranty. We were very satisfied with them.

I had contacted two other window cleaning contractors with "A" reviews on Angie's List. One never responded and one promptly came out and gave me an estimate, but when I e-mailed him back twice to arrange service, I never heard back. I had some fogged windows replaced around that time by Mtka Glass and they recommended Dixon's Home Services and said they personally used them and were very satisfied, so I checked them out on Angie's and they also had great ratings. I contacted Dixon's and they promptly arranged for someone to come out to do an estimate. The estimate was in line with the other estimate I received. They followed up with a phone call (left VM) a few days later asking if we had any questions, etc. Once I figured out my schedule, I contacted them to schedule the window cleaning when I was on vacation. On the scheduled day, two Dixon employees arrived promptly between the scheduled start time range of 8:00am - 8:30am. They were professional in appearance and polite. They started by cleaing the inside windows and then cleaned the outside. We have three dogs and my husband works from home and they worked around us and we hardly noticed they were here; they got right to work and were very efficient. I think it took about 1-1/2 hours to get all the windows done. The windows look great and I was impressed with the screen cleaning as our screens are a pain in the neck to get in and out. Window cleaning is one of those jobs that was nice to have totally done in one fell swoop and we have a few windows that need a tall ladder to reach and I don't like climbing 20-feet up on a ladder. The price I paid included $20 Angie's List discount and tax.

Quite honestly our experience is evidently uniquely poor. Ironically, I chose Dixons in part because of their great rating here. Our experience however was not good to say the least. I contacted them the beginning of May and spoke with Mick. He seemed nice and I was pleased somebody actually answered the phone instead of voice mail. He advised me that Mark the owner would be out later in the day for an estimate. Indeed he arrived a few hours later and gave an estimate for our windows and pressure washing the house. Estimate on the windows was quite reasonable but wanted $360 to wash the house. We don't live in a big house by any means so when his hourly rate for power washing is $80, that obviously means more than hour for each side of the house. Hmmm. Anyway that we could have lived with that as long as the job was well done and it really took them that long. Our dissatisfaction all relates to problems with scheduling. The date first given to me was May 27th, which is Memorial day and that seemed odd, but I just thought they work long hours during the summer to squeeze in all the business they can. I even verified it via email with Mick the week before. About midday on the 27th I called to see if they were still coming. No answer. Called back about an hour later and Mark answered the phone. He advised we were down for June 27th! I said that is not what Mick and I discussed. He was very apologetic and said he had no idea why we were scheduled so far out. "How does June 10th sound around 2 pm?" Fine. June 10th comes and no Dixons. I call about 3:40 to see what happened. Mick says let me call you back. He calls back 10 min later and... you guessed it, we are scheduled for June 27th! I advised him of my discussion with Mark and that the date was wrong from the beginning. I said "so you will be out here tomorrow?" I got a hardy laugh of out him on that one! I did not share the laughter. There was no apology or explanation on what might have happened to the appointment that Mark made. No taking ownership for the mistakes. Mick says he will try to move some things around and call me back with another time. About 45 minutes later he left a vm (I was outside) advising they would be out the next day at 8:30. That was it. Again no apology. No asking if that works for us. But wait, there is a final straw! Right after he leaves the vm, he sends an email with the invoice! An invoice before the work is even completed. Nice. I have had contracts for more expensive services where a portion was required up front as part of the deal, but never an invoice before work is completed. If for no other reason the invoice was premature as the time listed for pressure washing was an estimate only. Just tacky. Finally, if I was in Dixon's position, I would have given some kind of discount for the goofs and inconvenience....it was not once but TWICE that they goofed. That would have gone a long way toward getting me to take a more forgiving attitude here and when I talk to friends. So that is our experience, which it would appear is a really an outlier compared to the other Angie's list members, but our experience nonetheless. If it were not for the fact that they did offer to come out first thing the next morning I would have given them an F.

From start to finish it was a pleasure to work with Dixon's. I received a prompt response to my call followed by an estimate. The windows sparkled and I look forward to having them cleaned again in the spring.

Called Dixon's to inquire about ice dam removal. After receiving 14 inches of snow in early December, we noticed ice dams forming on our roof. We used Dixon's in 2010 to clear ice dams and snow from our roof and they were wonderful. Dixon's was very responsive and helpful on the phone, but with the volume of work they already had could not guarantee they'd be able to make it to our house in the next 48 hours. So, we used another company. In the future, I will still make Dixon's our first call.

They were easy to contact, arrived on time and did a thourogh job. This year they only cleaned the outside of the windows. Last year we had them clean inside and ountside of the windows.

Our home has many large windows which have never been cleaned since we moved in over 3 years ago. From my very first contact with Dixon's, everyone at the company was very professional and courteous. I was contacted the day before to confirm our appointment and then the next day, when the guys were running a little late, they called to let us know exactly what time they would be arriving. Chris and Wayne arrived ready to take on the project. It was obvious that they were experts in what they did, explaining in detail how the process would take place. They not only did a fabulous job but they were both very pleasant and respectful of our home. We look forward to scheduling with them again next year.

This company did a great job. A nice clean cut young man came out and worked very h****** our windows. He was a nice guy and professional. He was careful and clean. I plan on using this company again in the spring. Sometimes you never know who you're letting into your house but I will not hesitate to use this company again.

This is the second time I have used them. Both times the 2 man team arrived on time, did the work quickly & well. They left no mess. Good communications, very professional. I'll use them again.

I found Dixon's on Angie's List and called on a Tuesday for window cleaning. They were able to schedule me for that Thursday. The two young men who cleaned my windows arrived on schedule, gave me an estimate and got right to work. They were quick, very thorough and very polite. My windows look great and I wouldn't hesitate using Dixon's for future window cleaning. I highly recommend them.

A 2-man crew arrived cleaned all windows inside and out - took off all screens and wiped them; opened all windows and wiped the jambs. The were polite, introduced themselves, changed shoes for indoors and were careful around my house-critters. All work was done as expected and no mess, water or splashes were left when they'd finished. I've had some bad experiances before which were much more costly than Dixon's! We set up an appointment right after I recevied the quote on a day that worked for me to be home from work. I will certainly use Dixon's again for this service, will recommend them, and already plan on getting a quote for additional services when the weather permits outdoor gutter work.
